Her unsettling presence shadows Evie's sleuthing, leaving Evie to wonder if she’ll need to fight for her relationship with Caden. While Aunt Birdie assures her that love will find its way, her feisty familiar kitten, Kookie, is ready to pounce at any sign of trouble, especially if it involves Amelia.
Between a covert rendezvous under moonlit skies and old mills that still hold the echoes of forbidden love, Evie dives deep into a world where magic is as real as the town's history. Evie is still working with Valerie at her bakery. Her bestie, Chloe is out of town visiting her grandma. The monster cookie is still doing ridiculously well and Liam Thorne from the Honeysuckle Herald put in for a cookie contest, with the winner getting their recipe used at the bakery for a month and bragging rights. They find out the winner is Stella Moonwater with her Moonlit Macadamia Madness cookies. Very cool name, however, I dislike coconut and macadamia nuts. Lol
There is a problem with this when they make the cookies and start selling them, because the recipe belongs to the grandmother of Percy. His grandparents used to run one of the mills. Some very weird stuff happens. Every time Evie takes a bite, she hears a whisper from the shadows. Very freaky. Kookie, Evie’s kitten familiar is adorable and mischief incarnate. Lol.
So, Evie tries to get to the bottom of the mystery. She befriends Stella and Percy, but it takes a bit and I found them to be their own type of Kookie. Lol. Caden gets involved when someone tries to hurt Evie & Kookie. I freaked out then. Started chewing my nails and my lips. After seeing the original recipe, I had even more questions. Most of them were answered in the book and Evie’s Aunt Birdie in her cat’s, Theodosia’s body, answers some of the questions.
More clues, lead to more questions to the point that mayhem ensues and I fear for Evie, Kookie and Stella and Percy. Things hit the fan and we find out the truth of what happened to Percy’s gram and it is a doozy! I literally saw red when I found out. I can’t wait for the next book.

When the Honeysuckle Herald holds a cookie recipe contest, strange things begin to happen. While eating the cookies made according to this recipe, Evie starts to hear things and is intrigued enough to investigate the original recipe owner, Virginia. Evie has experienced ghosts before and would love to connect with Virginia, who apparently was a fellow baker. With the help of her familiar, Aunt Birdie, Caden and a few others, Evie sets out to find the truth and to help Virginia's spirit find peace. Evie soon learns that the biggest clue may be the cookies. But what she soon finds may be dangerous and may put her in the crosshairs.
Love this series! Flirty, mysterious and full of magic!!! Evie and Caden make a fantastic team and I love catching up with the residents of Honeysuckle Springs!!! I highly recommend this quick read with it's quirky characters and it's small town, magical feel!!!
Evie is making the winner of the contest when she is drawn to trying them, when something weird happens. When no one else has the same thing happen to them, she wonders if magic is involved. Evie sets out to discover the meaning of what she hears when the mystery deepens. She will have the help of her familiar, aunt and some new friends to help her find her way to the answers. Evie will have to be careful, or someone might end up getting hurt or worse.
There are some really interesting twists and turns. Introduction of some new characters. Evie and Caden relationship is only getting stronger and they have their own journey to continue. I can't wait for the next book. I love this world and cast of characters. Recommend reading this book.

Evie St. Claire got a visit at the bakery from a Honeysuckle Herald reporter giving her the winning cookie recipe from their contest. She bakes a batch, but when she bites into one of the cookies, she hears a whisper! She wants to make contact with Virginia, the recipe’s deceased owner who seemed to be trying to communicate with her. Will she find answers to the old mystery to bring peace to Virginia? She is running out of time because the closer she gets to those answers, the more danger catches up with her as someone wants to keep the past hidden.
The author writes awesome cozies that keep the reader fully invested in the story. The characters feel like old friends now and we enjoy seeing them in action as they help Evie solve the mystery. Grab your copy and enjoy the exciting story.
This was a really intriguing mystery dealing with a case from the forties that Evie felt was connected to a recipe because she felt the recipe’s owner was trying to communicate with her from the grave. And being Evie, she felt she needed to find this woman her answer so she’d rest in peace.
The ending was absolutely the sweetest and most satisfying ever! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Evie and Caden next and of course, her kitties and Aunt Birdie. Since Caden already knows everything about Evie, I’ve got total confidence he’ll be totally receptive to the truth about Aunt Birdie.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the author via BookSprout, and my opinions are my own.
Amazing how such a cold case can be so dangerous. Especially since there is nothing that indicated it was anything more than an accident. When biting into a cookie makes Evie hear a whisper, every single time she took a bite, she knew she had a mystery to solve. Unfortunately, things take a deadly twist when Evie and Kookie are ran off the road. Caden is ready to kill at that point! Things only get more exciting and boy, I did not see what happened, happening! That goes for how the whole mystery played out AND the incredible surprise at the ending.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series and this one was the best book yet! I don’t like to give away “secrets in the sweetness” so I will just say you have to read this book. The story is well written with excellent plot line and keeps you engaged the entire time. I’ve read hundreds of cozy mysteries and so far this is in my top favorites. Looking forward to the next book
Cookie Whispers is the 8th installment of the "Cookie" series. I've read all of them, just as I have read all of Ms. Stark's other books and series. I believe her writing, though it has always been good, just keeps getting better and better. The stories in this series have become more and more interesting. There are few if any of the typos and grammatical errors that plaque so many authors these days. That is always an important plus for me as I know it is for others. If you enjoy a well written story, with heart, a little suspense and a cute romance, this books and series is for you. I look forward to the next addition. Enjoy!
I love this series - Cookie Corner Paranormal Cozy Mysteries by Cindy Stark. They have just enough thriller in them to keeping you turning the pages making it hard to put them down. And lots of gentle but twisted romance with several couples in the same story. The same romance between Evie and Caden while the others keep reappearing In later books! Highly recommended.
Cookie Whispers (Cookie Corner Paranormal Cozy Mysteries Book 8) by Cindy Stark. Evie and her boss Valerie make the cookies from the recipe that won the competition in the local paper but every time Evie takes a bit she gets “secrets in the sweetness” whispered in her ear. When no one else hears this, Evie sets out to investigate and uncovers murder and nearly her own.
Probably one of my least favorite in this series so far. Was very slow paced and I found myself continually putting it down to read something else instead. The 2nd half or 1/3rd of the book definitely picked up and felt more like the rest of the series. The biggest plus was getting to see Kookie and Evie’s relationship really start to develop and seeing more of Kookie’s personality. Missed Aunt Birdie and Gertie though. 2.5 stars
why does Evie hear whispers when she bites into cookies that are a variation of a treasured family recipe from one of the early families around the town and mills?
secrets, heartbreak, lost memories, power struggles and greed compete with powers of love and hope
intense magical adventures and romance amid murderous mayhem and drama
I really really like this series, the characters and the plot. Best of all no murders in this small town, this time!! I'm not doing a synopsis, never do. Read the description on the author's website or sale page, it always sells me. It's a good, clean cozy mystery, that involves a good witch. Can't wait to read the installment from this talented storyteller.
Get a baker's dozen cookies and chew on these cozy mysteries
If you enjoy mysteries with witches and their furry familars, plus a sweet romance, this series is for you. Set in a small Idaho town, the characters will enchant you. You can read the first book and will want to go on and on through all of the books.
This book had great mystery. I enjoyed the growth between Evie and her familiar. There a few parts that didn't really add to this story, but I'm guessing it's build up for another story. I wish there had been some interaction with Gertie. I missed her in this book. Can't wait for to read book 9.
Mystery, magic, mayhem - what more could I possibly want? And all that is a lighthearted, humorous tone that I love. It feels so effortless and I was easily transported inside the book, only to be totally bewildered when I was at the end. Great book, I want to live there, LOL!
Evie is intrigued with the words that she is hearing in her head. She works on trying to figure out what they mean and whether there is a murder involved. Will Evie get help from someone connected to this? A very enjoyable read.
I’ve loved all the books in this series, but I think this one is my favorite. Old secrets revealed and a new beginning. I look forward to the next one.
These stories are so good. Mystery and mayhem. Caden and Evie make a nice couple. Birdie and her babies are so so cute. Can't wait to read the next one.
Absolutely fascinating plot, loved the magical elements and original ideas. Fabulous characters, romance, mystery and kittens, what more could a reader want for a lighter read.
The story starts in full force with an enticing mystery to pursue. A very enjoyable book to read. I definitely will call this book one of my favorites!
