Time can heal all wounds… or at least that is what they say.
Onora Miller.
Nori has always been the girl that would continuously give until she had nothing left. She was a helper, a natural-born caretaker. From a young age, she has always hung around the people that live on the lavish side of life. Which meant never really living for herself but much rather for the approval of everyone around her.
Alonso
Having always been labeled the "bad boy," he never believed that he was worthy of any goodness in his life other than his three brothers and father figure. He was known for breaking the rules and getting into trouble.
The unlikely pair began to connect over a series of months, but one night will change the story… forever.
Six years later, Alonso is back. And now he's ready to win her back...
But the catch to all of this is that Nori is already engaged to another man.
Will six years be enough to repair the remnants of their broken hearts? Or will the only testament to their story be the second chance that never was?

Emily Keesee began telling stories at the early age of four years old. Back then, it became a way to pass the time for a child and anyone who would listen. But now, at the age of twenty-two, she began putting those stories on paper to share with the world. The stories created are meant to lead the reader on a journey through Ms. Keesee's turbulent mind. If not motivated by her family and friends, the books would not exist as they do today.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading all of the sad books and crying on the internet. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends. You can usually find her with a book in hand, rewatching any Marvel movie or Top Gun Maverick for the hundredth time, or with her laptop in tow.

I was given the chance to read an ARC for @nemysbooknook’s debut novel, Second Chance.

Alonso and Nori took me on a wild ride — very high highs and very low lows.

Immediately I fell in love with Alonso and all of his brothers. Same with Nori and her dad. It’s very easy to love them & want the best for them.

Not to mention the story and how it all came full circle. 🥹

But what really got me was the last couple chapters and THAT EPILOGUE! Ugh. So so good.

I literally just read the last sentence and already need to know more.

Such a beautiful story. Make sure to grab a copy when it becomes available August 18!

This is definitely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me. I can’t wait to see what’s next from Emily! 💜

Second Chance is Keesee's debut novel. It is a contemporary romance featuring Nori and Alonso.

Alonso's mom abandoned him as a child so he didn't have the best childhood. He was eventually taken in by a kindhearted man named Vincent, who gave him a home and a family. When Alonso crossed paths with Nori in his freshman year, he knew she was the one for him. He told himself that he wasn't good enough for her, but watched over her to protect her.

I refused to ever entertain the idea of friendship or anything more until I knew I was ready for her. Because this woman deserved me at my best, and this version of me clearly wasn't my best.

While Nori had seen Alonso around, she really met him for the first time when he beat up her then boyfriend for cheating on her. She, in turn, stuck up for Alonso to ensure he didn't get into trouble.

Nori saw the good in Alonso but he kept pushing her away, and so she kept her distance from him while still bonding with his family.

"You know, we may not be friends - but you're one of the best men I know, Alonso. You are worthy, but it doesn't matter if you don't believe it for yourself."

One day Nori stumbles across Alonso on the street. He's not in good shape so she calls an ambulance and his family. He recognizes that he has made some bad choices and endeavours to become a better man. Nori is so proud of him for putting in the work, and she sticks by him. They spend lots of time together and get closer.

And then tragedy strikes.

Alonso takes off, breaking Nori's heart, and they don't see each other for years.

This is a beautiful and heartfelt story about a man who loved a woman so much, all he wanted for her to be happy, while that same woman wanted that man to see himself through her eyes and recognize that he was good enough.

Keesee created wonderful characters who were easy to love. The storyline, told by both Nori and Alonso, flipped back and forth from present to past. Through their POVs we are able to see how the characters grow and change each other.

This book isn't just a second chance romance, but second chances in life. I definitely recommend checking it out.

This was such a beautiful and emotional second chance romance. I loved Alonso and Nori's friendship so much, and rooted from them to figure out how to be together the entire time, because their love story is one you just can't not root for.
This book is equal parts heartwarming and gut-wrenching and Keesee did a great job at tugging my feelings all over the place.
I'm so proud of you Nemy for releasing your debut novel and I cannot wait to see what else you write in the future.

Y'all. This book.

SC is Keesee's debut novel and OMG am I excited to see what she does next. The book follows Nori and Alonso as they meet again for the first time in years. It's dramatic and it's romantic and I love Alonso with my whole heart.

First off, the plot is amazing. Since it is a second chance romance (as the name implies) there is a duel timeline. It works really well and each jump back and forth comes at the perfect time. I couldn't put this book down!

The characters are perfect. We have our mmc, Alonso, who is precious and needs to be protected at all costs. He is the love of my life and if I didn't love his relationship with Nori so much I would try to steal him away. His character arc was easily my favorite since we got to see him grow and change throughout the years. He starts the book as a scared kid and becomes this amazing man worthy of the woman he loves. Nori is just as perfect. She's strong and resilient and isn't afraid to speak her mind. I love her to pieces.

The secondary cast is just as amazing. I am begging Emily to give them books too because I need more of them!

Overall, this is a romance book filled with complex characters fighting for what they want. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I blushed because I was reading in public and Alonso has a dirty mouth. SC has everything you could want in a romance and everyone needs to check it out.

Thank you to the author for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
