Dive headfirst into the captivating universe of "The Planetary Fixer Trilogy Book 1: The Wanderer," where the seasoned Planetary Fixer, Zaelen Skyreaver, stands at the threshold of retirement, ready to grapple with his final mission. On the surface, it seems like a straightforward task—thwart an impending horde of menacing monsters, and voilà, mission accomplished. But alas, the universe revels in twisting fate. The planet he's been assigned to, unlike any other, teems with Qi-cultivating martial artists who aren’t keen on a helping hand from an outsider.
Prepare yourself for an enthralling expedition as the story unfolds, though, let's be real, when do things ever go according to plan? Zaelen's mission to restore equilibrium transforms into a roller coaster ride of adventure and unexpected twists and turns. In a cosmos shrouded in enigma, mysteries await at every turn, and Zaelen's journey of self-discovery and unforeseen alliances is merely a prelude to the boundless realms of intrigue.
A portal/progression fantasy with a twist that blends Sci-fi with western cultivation fantasy.
For P.R. Ramos and anyone else who plans to read this novel
An interesting twist to advanced civilization meeting something different. I liked it overall.
There were type-o's that were distracting and a number of formating issues with the periods but overall a fun read. The characters were nicely unique enough though I did struggle to envision what they looked like as the details of the character descriptions were light. Some people I guess like that as their imagination creates the details. Similarly I found it interesting how little details of the settings were described over time. I know some authors spend a lot of time describing the world in vivid details ... others not so much. Anyhow it did not detract for me as I always found the character dynamics the most interesting and fun parts.
Anyhow, good first book and I hope I can do as good of a job for my own first novels. Looking forward to the next book.
Zaelen Skyreaver was preparing to leave Earth in less than 20 minutes. With Phase 3 completed here, he was taking on his last mission before retiring. The two models in his bed begged him to stay, but he had already ordered a chauffeur to take them wherever they wished since he had no time remaining here. Before he left, he gave his Bentley to the driver since it was James’ favorite vehicle. He listened to a final Earth song because he loved the Earth’s music, and then he joined his AI assistant to begin their journey to quell a horde of monsters. It had sounded easy, but it is anything but that and will take him into danger and intrigue! Join him here, at the beginning, and see if his final quest is resolved as he had imagined…
I chose the audio since it was free with audible plus, and was hesitant because it’s “virtual voice” but it turned out to be pretty legit. It sounds pretty natural, the only real blips being lack of inflections with dialogue. Don’t let it hold you back
Pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this! I was expecting another hollow third-rate story to cram into my brain like junk food, but really enjoyed the ride.
I like. Definitely invested in seeing where book 2 takes me
Aside- {Spoiler}
I found it funny how at the end his friends we’d spent the whole book with were like “srry bro, my da said I can’t hang out with you anymore ✌️”
Then two randos he barely knows come in clutch and actually help. Really shows who’s the fair weather friends and who will be the Ride or Dies ✊
I'm looking forward to this series... With this first book, author P.R. Ramos has set up a fully realized world and culture and inhabited it with likable characters. While the narration and details that come out in the book are first-rate, the book is slightly let down by its dialogue, which at times can be too simplified and plot-leading. This would be a five-star book without the distractions the dialogue causes, as the story really is quite good.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Over all the story was fairly good, but everything felt contrived. The simple EMP grenade that can wipe out advance technology included implants. A advanced wrist guard that you can damage simply by squeezing it too tight. One would think advanced explorer/infiltration technology would have a certain level of protection. Even today, our military technology has built-in safeguards against stuff like this. I guess turning it into super technology, makes it more vulnerable to impact and magnetic waves.
Okay, first off. I did like this book. It has some issues, but that might be more of a me thing than anything else. Two small warnings. 1) Don't get too attached to the characters, outside the MC, and a couple of supporting characters. Outside those, they might as well be disposable. Again, it's probably a me thing. 2) The cultivation is more of a subplot through most of this book.
I am cautiously optimistic about the next one.
Highly recommended, but with (some small) caveats.
Could have done with a bit more editing on the grammar, but overall a excellent read. Waiting with baited breath for book 2. P.S. keep up the good work, love your style.
Quite a good book......but, the author sometimes happens to add random things without previous mentions and without enough explanations, to help the protagonist in the journey.....
