In this installment we learned more about the history of Asher's parents and the history of ghosts and the history of the Big Bad.
Lots of history! (It does feel like an installment in a larger book, so it's hard to review on its own.)

Review and read dates are for the whole series; I read it in one go. It really should be one book; the individual books didn't really have any resolved arcs of their own.
