To Lady Mirade, it seems a simple task: abduct the sorcerer son of her clan’s greatest enemy and persuade him to teach her the magic she needs to defend her family and her keep. She never expects her greatest battle to be against the forbidden desire that burns between them.
The Lord Sorcerer Lorien’s task is to escape and return to his own clan so they can resume their feud. But even as he remains Mirade’s prisoner, he finds himself enchanted by her determination and passion to protect her people.
As they grow ever closer, finding a way to resolve the feud so they can be together may prove to be the most impossible task of all.
I loved this book! Lorien reads like a Loki, with all the delicious trickster bits. Tropes include forbidden love, enemies to lovers, and forced proximity. Spicy with open door love scenes. Mirada was an awesome, strong character and I love the way she never backed down and was willing to do anything to help her people. Wonderful read that I couldn't put down. Can't wait for Santi's next book!
4.5 Stars. Set in an unnamed coastal region that sounds like Cornwall, or Wales, Mirade is the daughter of the (now deceased) Lord of the castle and region, and a dark skinned woman from the southern countries that their clan used to sail to and trade with. She HAS magickal abilities, but not the practice, training, or family spellbook to learn from.
In desperation, she's kidnapped the sorcerer son of the rival clan, so that Lorien can teach her the skills she needs to defend her keep and her home. Sparks fly, even when they're not practicing spells, and despite the whole Romeo-and-Juliet feuding clans aspect.
Mirade is smart and brave, and Lorien is delightfully yummy. But will they have to face one another in battle? (Hint: It's a romance, so it has a HEA.) I really liked both characters, the situation, and the magickal aspects, as well as the tasks they had to fulfill to het to that HEA.
I loved Impossible Tasks! The way our FMC is willing to do whatever it takes for her people won me over even if she is a kidnapper! (Usually I don’t encourage such things, lol) You wouldn’t expect then, for the MMC to be able to fall in love with the heroine but he does, and Santi orchestrates that beautifully. I believed 100% in their love story. I couldn’t put it down. You won’t be sorry you picked up this book, it’s worth the price! You’ll be itching to give it five stars too- you’ll see!
This was the first read by Alexa and I loved every minute of this story. I was hooked from the first page. Mirade is an extremely brave and dedicated to her people and will do what ever it takes. Lorien is a character you can absolutely fall for. It starts with a bang when Lorien has been k!dnapp3d but he discovers his surroundings is anything but what he expected. Forced to share his magical knowledge and skills with Mirade there is also different sparks that are beginning to fly. Great read and will definitely be reading more by this author.
Medium burn, medium heat, enemies to lovers. FMC has the MMC imprisoned in order to get him to teach her magic (the first “impossible task” of the novel), since their families’ long standing feud against one another has deprived her of her family’s grimoire and a wealth of generational knowledge. They fall in love despite being warned against it (when has that ever worked?) and their love is tested by the MMC’s family (the second impossible task).
This is a fascinating historical romance with magic and sorcerers. I can see why it won awards. So much was packed into this novella length romance. I really appreciated both Lady Mirade and the Lord Sorcerer Lorien. I found that pacing of their romance incredibly well done. And it matched the pacing of the more suspenseful plot elements well. Everything made sense in this world. I loved how magic worked. And I really want to read more set in the same fantasy world.
I loved Mirade and Lorien! Their chemistry was so good. 😍 The story was short, sweet, and steamy. I love how fierce Mirade is, and willing to do anything for her people. Lorien is pretty likeable as well-for a captive.😂 Loved them, and loved this book!
The one thing I really enjoyed about this one was the fact that Lady Mirade was the one doing the kidnapping! The tension between her and Lorien was absolutely hot. A true enemies to lovers story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mirade and Lorien are star-crossed enemies to lovers. One taken prisoner to teach the other, the drama and suspense kept me turning page after page. I enjoyed their story.
