This edition, with padded cover, and 'elf' that looks nice and friendly, is ridiculous. The king and other adults look like young teens. There's no nuance, nothing to think about, no lesson or adventure or vocabulary or anything. Some retellings are interesting, but please skip this, don't even give your library the circulation count for it.

3.75 Stars As a child Rumpelstiltskin was my favorite story. I don't know why, you have a greedy king, a helpless maiden and some sort of weird elf...but non the less I liked the story.


This one is an nice retelling...the story I had was on tape and I listen to it over and over again before I fell asleep. So the story I have memorized is not the same as this one but I still liked it. The pictures are great (better than the story book that went along with my old fashion tape). This is a good one!!
