'The Expressionist puzzle' is the title of the first chapter. It is a mind-expandig text. What follows is a comprehensive review of the movement, which includes also literature, film, and music. The end chapter is titled 'Unresolved conclusions' and, again, it is one for the mind. This book is not a hagiography. It is unorthodox and intelligent instead.

Informative and incisive, although I question Willett's assessment of expressionism in film (From Morn to Midnight but no Nosferatu?)
