Transform your career and embrace risk by recognizing your worth in the job market. Instead of relying on outdated advice, this book encourages you to take control of your professional destiny. With a meaningful career strategy, you can create a happier, more balanced life by making pivotal changes and betting on yourself.

Robynn Storey's journey began with her grandfather, a modest bookie who taught her the value of hard work and risk-taking. Embracing these lessons, she started a résumé-writing business from humble beginnings, eventually generating millions. Her story emphasizes the importance of betting on yourself, valuing your unique identity, and committing to hard work. These principles can guide you to a more authentic and rewarding life.

Casual encounters can lead to life-changing opportunities, as seen in John's story. Starting in a department store stock room, a chance conversation with a corporate officer led to his promotion and eventual success in the fashion industry. This highlights the importance of being open to forming new contacts in everyday interactions, as they can unexpectedly enrich your professional life.

The erosion of deep-seated loyalty in today's workforce is illustrated by the experience of a 27-year employee demoted despite her dedication. Setting clear boundaries is essential to achieve work-life balance, as seen in the story of a senior account executive whose vacation was ruined by work demands. Protecting your personal time and well-being is crucial in a world where work can follow you everywhere through digital means.

Imposter syndrome, the feeling of not deserving your success, is common but can be overcome. Examples include a marketing assistant who advanced by recognizing her contributions and an IT manager who acknowledged his true role. Embracing your achievements and recognizing your worth can lead to fair compensation and greater professional fulfillment.

The 2023 job market shift requires resilience and persistence. Confidence is crucial in negotiations, as shown by a marketing executive who secured a substantial salary increase by asserting her value. Tailoring your cover letter to specific jobs and companies, exuding confidence, and maintaining a positive attitude are key strategies for securing your next big opportunity.

This book by Robynn Storey offers insights that go beyond your résumé, emphasizing the significance of risk-taking, valuing your worth, and hard work. By applying these lessons, you can transform your career narrative and embark on a more authentic and rewarding professional life.

In a direct - sometimes bold - way, the author achieves the title goal providing confidence to the reader. While not all situations may apply, and probably less in contexts out of the US, the reader can certainly find some tie and adapt what described to his own background. Among all the continous messages telling you have to improve this, that, that other thing, stop doing this other, gain new skills and keep afloat on the job market (all probably true or acceptable, though) it is good from time to time to have some view and find out you were not (that) wrong in your impressions.

This was a graduation gift and a great read as I am entering the Corporate America world in two months. Obviously I was able to relate to some chapters more than others since I have not officially started my full time job yet, but I thought the information was relevant and well organized. Definitely keeping this book in my back pocket throughout my career!

I was extremely disappointed in this book. More memoire than strategy with writing that left me underwhelmed, sentiments that made me go yuck, and not much to offer for one’s career.

As a resume writing service, I still see loads of value in the business the author has built and what her business offers the world of work. However, very little of that value shone through to me in this book.

Upon finding myself laid off for the first time in my life at 54-years-old, I bought books on writing resumes and acing interviews, however this book is truly the only one I needed!

The author has a best-friend-like writing style, so it is an easy read. Plus, it is FULL of career advice!

Worth every penny and then some! I was able to get 4 interviews in my first week!

Eh. I did not really care for this business/advice book. Also, it needed a good second round of edits. I saw SO many blatantly obvious typos and errors.
