A discovery in his own backyard drives Nathan to seek out the secrets of an ancient portal—and into the path of enemies who want them dead. The Conclave is under increasing attack as the rebellion continues to spread like wildfire. Friends, family, enemies become indistinguishable.
Hope lies in the Fae realm, where Nathan seeks a portal master.
But reaching the Fae world means evading demons and vampires. It means trusting allies and estranged family members who might betray him. And it means learning portal magic from the fae who hold humans in contempt for their desecration of Earth.
With lives hanging in the balance and the magical world tearing itself apart, Nathan must master powers that could either aid him in his quest to become a master weaver—or open doorways that should have remained closed forever.
The hunt is on. And Nathan is both predator and prey.
Book three of the Old Blood Saga—when secrets span worlds, even estranged families can become crucial allies.
Some bloodlines carry magic. Others carry secrets. In the Old Blood Saga, they carry both.
B. Scott Hoadley writes urban fantasy for readers who like their magic dark, their loyalties treacherous, and the shadows between worlds uncomfortably close. His debut series follows Nathan Briggs — a young man who inherits more than money when his grandfather dies, and finds himself drawn into a hidden war between weavers, vampires, demons, and fae, all circling an ancient organization that will do anything to maintain its grip on the magical world.
Readers call it “a grown-up Harry Potter.” Others say it’s “like your own private movie — you can envisage every scene, every character, you feel part of it.” For fans of Deborah Harkness and the Discovery of Witches series, the comparison comes up again and again.
An expat New Yorker who has lived in Boston and now makes his home in Southeast London, the author writes with one eye on the hidden layers beneath familiar streets — the magic that might be lurking just behind the ordinary world, if you know where to look. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College and spends the remainder of his time in the English countryside, plotting Nathan’s next catastrophe.
The first five books of the Old Blood Saga — THE WEAVER, OLD BLOOD, HUNTER’S MOON, BLOOD TIES, and WEAVER’S ISLE — are available now. The final book, THE CONCLAVE, arrives in 2026.

I have loved these books and this one draws you ever further into the worlds of Weavers, Vampires, Demons and Fae. It shows you how all the worlds can work in harmony or destroy themselves through hatred and rebellion. Can’t wait to see what happens next on Nathan’s Quest
I enjoyed this fantasy fiction. These books need to be read in order, as the story progresses through each one, making you want to read the next one straight away. The characters keep you engaged as you learn more about them as the story develops. The suspense and suspicion keep you gripped to the end of the books. Can’t wait for book 4.
As Nathan and his friends embark on a very dangerous and important quest, what he sees at the last second as he leaves, plus what he doesn’t see on arrival, put a huge question mark on everything he thought he knew. Neither his lessons from his grandfather on video, nor what he was taught in the fae world, could prepare for this. I’m heading straight for book 4 right now!
Absolutely brilliant book… good pacing, settings and having read the ending I’m desperate for the next book to find out more… to read or to sleep that is the question!
