'Twisted Embrace' is the second book in Piper Stone's "Tainted Regime" series. Although it's part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. The story revolves around Enzo and Joy. Enzo Lazarro is the heir to the Lazarro empire and also serves as the Consigliere of the DeLuca-Lazarro Costa Nostra in Italy. He's a handsome, sadistic, sociopathic, ruthless, and brutal man. He's also the brother of Lucia Lazarro-DeLuca, the wife of Don D'Artagnan. Lucia and Joy had been best friends for five years when they first spied D'Artagnan at a party. Fast forward until we find Lucia married to D'Artagnan and six months pregnant. Joy decides to throw Lucia a baby shower in New York, which means Lucia needs to fly in and have security with her. As soon as Joy saw Enzo guarding Lucia, she felt drawn towards him and wouldn't mind spending a night or two with him. The story is full of unexpected twists and turns that keep the reader engaged throughout. The drama, adventure, terror, and discoveries just kept on coming, making it nearly impossible to put the book down. Overall, 'Twisted Embrace' is a fantastic read and I can't wait for the next book in the series, 'Captured Innocence'.

This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. Joy is attending her best friend’s baby shower. When the shower is attacked by the Bratva, Enzo comes to the rescue. Enzo believes that Joy is some how tied to the attack. Can he keep her safe? What will happen when sparks begin to fly between them? Fast-paced mafia read with loads of drama suspense and sizzling chemistry. I really liked it.

Twisted Embrace is book two in the Tainted Regime trilogy. A full-length standalone novel with no cheating, no cliffhanger and guaranteed happily-ever-after. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone. A brilliantly written story with world building with twisty storyline that captures the reader attention from the beginning until the end. A fast paced, dark, and gripping story. This is Joy and Enzo story. Enzo Lazarro is the heir to the Lazarro Empire and also the Consigliere of the DeLuca-Lazarro Costa Nostra in Italy. He's handsome, sadistic, sociopathic, ruthless and brutal. He's the brother of Lucia Lazarro-DeLuca, the wife Don D'Artagnan. There was an attempted kidnapping of Lucia and Joy which resulted in Lucia and her baby fighting for their lives. Joy was besides herself and didn't want to leave her friend side. Enzo believed that since she was almost kidnapped that the Bratva's will back to get her so he decided to protect her as well. However, when went hunting for the culprits he learnt that they wanted Joy and was determined to make her pay. He blamed her for Lucia fighting for her life and life of baby. He thought that Joy was plant by the Bratva's but she didn't have any idea about what he was talking about. But Dimitri from the Bratva told him that she was very important to the Pakhan.
Joy is the daughter of Russian mafia Igor Petrov he gave her to the Levins raise because of his cousin the Russian Pakhan Grigori Volkov of Moscow who killed her mom and brother. He knew that she would become important to both man, and before Enzo killed him he asks him to protect her. Igor Petrov is the estranged brother of the New York Pakhan of the Russian Bratva Boris Petrov. He betrayed and went to work for Enzo but also betrayed him as well. Joy Levin is a Russian mafia princess born Sasha Petrov, she had no idea of her parentage even though she suspected that she was adopted because she didn't looked like any of her siblings. Joy resent the mob world and has wondered how her friend doesn't mind all the violence that goes with it. When Enzo told her the truth she didn't believe him but realized that it all made sense after the mysterious letter that she had received earlier that day from someone claiming to be her dad. Joy is the niece of the Russian Pakhan Grigori Volkov as well as the New York Pakhan Boris.
Joy is beautiful, defiant, sassy, fierce, and strong-willed. Enzo and her had an electrifying and magnetic chemistry and was scorching hot and burn up your kindle. He hadn't met any woman that he was drawn to as he did her. He punished her then rape her and got addicted to her after that. She had a caustic mouth awaken something him. After getting constant attacks from the Bratva's they decided to go back home to Italy where they could find on their own home front. Enzo knew that if the Bratva's got their hands on Joy they would either sell or trade her to the highest bidder or enter into an alliance which make them even more powerful, so he decided that he would take her for himself and marry. It also didn't hurt the fact that he couldn't stay away from her and couldn't get her off his mind when he was away from her. When word got out that she was is fiancee it was an all war on Italian soil involving all the five families. The Volkov was mad that they were beaten a year ago and wanted revenge. They team up with the New York Bratva and caused total mayhem.

Simply wonderful read, great characters and a scenario that will hold you completely captivated
This is a simply wonderful read that I guarantee you will love every single moment of and you will find that you will love every moment of this wonderful story, the characters were written absolutely beautifully and you will love the action and the adventure that are involved within this simply wonderful story.
Joy and Lucia have been friends for a great number of years and she had been there when she met her husband and then married and now has arranged a baby shower for Lucia who is six months pregnant and very much looking forward to the birth of the baby. Unfortunately, the party was suddenly infiltrated by the Bratva and both were taken hostage, Lucia was shot in the stomach and has been fighting for hers and the baby’s life.
Her brother had been tasked with caring for Lucia and had been diligently looking after her but when both Joy and Lucia were taken hostage and this had been when their world had crumbled at their feet and Enzo and D’Artagnan return back to Italy where they can control the enemies that are attacking the two women and who will kill anyone that dares to threaten their loved ones.
The facts that have come about regarding Joy has made her a commodity that the Russian Bratva would very much like to get their hands on, they will use her or they will kill her and this is something that Enzo is determined to prevent no matter what it takes.
He has never known a woman like her before she challenges him at every turn and she is no frightened to stand up to him, she also has put her life on the line when there was an attack at the hospital.
She had fought off an assassin that had been determined to kill Luccia and her baby with an injection he was going to plunge into her.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

We previously met Enzo in the first book in this series and honestly he didn’t come across as a very likeable character then and in the opening chapters of this book it doesn’t seem that much has changed, however this is a redemption story and with the help of Lucia’s best friend Joy we see real character growth in Enzo and meet a completely different side to the man he appeared to be.
When Enzo’s sister Lucia is attacked at her baby shower he is determined to find the culprit by any means possible, and when lines blur and it turns out that Lucia’s best friend Joy isn’t who everyone thinks she is (including herself) he points the finger at the wrong person and pins the blame on Joy and is determined to make her pay.
Joy is an absolute firecracker of a character, she’s not part of the mafia life and she has a very negative opinion of Enzo based on things Lucia has told her of their childhood and she thinks nothing of telling him what she thinks of him. Joy’s fiery and combative nature would normally irritate Enzo but it sparks something in him and so whilst he tries to get the truth he uses spanking and angry sex to punish her and the chemistry and sexual tension sizzles! Whilst he normally trusts his instincts and is never wrong seeing how protective of his sister Joy is he soon realises this time he has made a mistake and the whole trusting instincts and ‘premonition’ become a large pivotal point of the storyline alongside the hot sex and seeking revenge.
I love the way Piper switches between the two characters POV and really shows the characters warring personalities - Enzo is struggling to deal with the fact Joy brings out a softer side and makes him care which is something he’s never done before and Joy is angry and fearful of what the Mafia man might do to her but can’t fight her attraction to Enzo. The character growth in Enzo especially is amazing as he becomes more than the man his father made.
There was added suspense and danger to the story as we try to determine who is betraying them to the Russians with several characters falling under suspicion in an almost ‘whodunnit’ moment.

Part of the Tainted Regime series each can be read as a standalone but I don’t recommend it we meet all the characters in book one either way it isn’t needed to understand this one so hang on and double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love (ALL THINGS TO EXPECT FROM THE MAFIA WORLD). By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter! CAN’T SAY YOU WEREN’T WARNED!! Joy and Lucia are best friends, and they are attacked at Lucia’s baby shower in NY attempted kidnapping of Joy by the bratva and saved by Enzo who usually mean to any/everyone including his very own sister. But the moment they try to take Joy he knows something more is going on, thinking she is a traitor but the more he denies his attraction the harder it is for him to keep ignoring it, this actually goes for the both of them. But, the more time they spend around each other the more she convinces him she doesn’t know anything and going through the twist, the turns together finding out the truth is something neither of them would have every expected but does it change Enzo, does it change his mean, overbearing behavior, does she teach him how to love, how to accept love, will he be honest with his feelings for her, will she be honest with her feelings for him, dose he finally believe in her visions, and can they find happiness somewhere on the crazy ride they have embarked upon?

Enzo Lazarro is Consigliere of the DeLuca and Lazarro Cosa Nostra. If you read the previous book in the series, you are already familiar with him as a dark and twisted character. Joy Levin is the best friend of his sister Lucia Lazarro DeLuca. Joy is a reporter whose life is about to become wilder and more dangerous that any story she could’ve imagined covering.
It’s difficult to write a review of this book because the story is a little complicated, and I don’t want to ruin it for you. This book can be read as a standalone, but I think you get even more from it you read the first book in the series, “Cruelest Vow”. There are a lot of steamy scenes, some with much less consent than others. Both characters experience significant emotional developments on their way to a happy conclusion. I’m looking forward to the third book in the series.

This book is so well written and so full of emotions it will take you on a journey that's dangerous, suspenseful, brutal, dark but through it all there is hope, healing and love. You can't help but root for them especially Joy because she is a force to be reckoned with. She is strong, determined, resistant, protective and fierce.

Twisted Embrace by Piper Stone is Book 2 of Tainted Regime Series. This is a dark mafia romance and Enzo Lazarro and Joy Levin's story. Enzo is Consigliere of the DeLuca and Lazarro Cosa Nostra. Enzo is Don D'Artagnan second in charge and brother-in-law. Joy's best friend is Enzo's sister Lucia Lazarro DeLuca. This book can be read as a standalone, but I think Book 1 should be read first. The characters are in both books 1 & 2. Enzo is dominant and powerful. Joy is strong, sassy and stands up to Enzo. This book is well written and very entertaining by a very talented writer. It is full of suspense, danger, secrets, lies, steamy scenes, and is action-packed.

Enzo Lazzaro is the brother from hell. Lucia doesn’t trust him to have a heart or even a soul. Joy sees the bad boy but she also the man down deep. But she doesn’t want any part of the bloodshed that comes with it. When a premonition throws Joy and Lucia into danger, things heat up.
I have to say, when you first read about Enzo in “Cruelest Vow” I thought he had no heart. He was cold and cruel to his sister. But you learn that their father was a man with no soul. Grooming his son to be as cold as he was. Fast forward, now Enzo is protecting his sister. When the Russians decide to make an example, war is declared. We find out a lot more about Joy and her past. She isn’t what she thought. I wasn’t too thrilled with Enzo’s treatment of her either. I was worried for her safety. We have a lot of infighting and rage going on. Not only with Enzo but Joy, Dar, Mattia and even Lucia. This story really heats up. The chemistry between Enzo and Joy is electric and joy keeps poking at Enzo. It takes a strong woman to break through to Enzo. I am so looking forward to Mattia’s fall.
I have to say, when you first read about Enzo in “Cruelest Vow” I thought he had no heart. He was cold and cruel to his sister. But you learn that their father was a man with no soul. Grooming his son to be as cold as he was. Fast forward, now Enzo is protecting his sister. When the Russians decide to make an example, war is declared. We find out a lot more about Joy and her past. She isn’t what she thought. I wasn’t too thrilled with Enzo’s treatment of her either. I was worried for her safety. We have a lot of infighting and rage going on. Not only with Enzo but Joy, Dar, Mattia and even Lucia. This story really heats up. The chemistry between Enzo and Joy is electric and joy keeps poking at Enzo. It takes a strong woman to break through to Enzo. I am so looking forward to Mattia’s fall.

Oh, the attraction women have to the "unlovable", arrogant sexy mafia man and Piper Stone writes it the best! Enzo is brother to Lucia Lazarro who was introduced in Book 1, Cruelest Vow but these two siblings are as different as night and day. Lucia's best friend is Joy who is not familiar to the Mafia lifestyle, but she is rudely introduced to the violence and the sexy Enzo when she is attending the baby shower for Lucia, and they seem to be targeted. Well, Joy has a big surprise when she learns that the mother and father who raised her "may not be" her real parents. As is no surprise, Enzo's view of commitment is being slowly changed the longer he is around Joy but, can they stay alive long enough to get their HEA. This series has been addictive, and I cannot wait to read the next and final conclusion to the Tainted Regime Series.

This is Joy and Enzo's story. They were both introduced in the first book in the Tainted Regime series. These 2 had instant attraction and both loved the ferociousness of that attraction even if the trust was slow building.
Lucia and Joy are attacked at the baby shower for the former and it is found out the intended target was both of them. Enzo has a hard time believing that Joy is not a traitor but can't fight his mad attraction to this jewel. Through numerous twists and turns they both found out the truth in this very complicated back story.
I think that is the part that I found a hard time with, the backstory just had me shaking my head BUT Piper's storytelling saved it and the hot hot smexy times really didn't hurt.

This story was about Enzo and Joy, Enzo's sister Lucia is Joy's best friend, they happened to be at a baby shower when their lives changed forever. Enzo is Don D'Artagnan second in charge and his brother-in-law. Enzo and his crew are trying to protect the girls and they are trying find out why the Bratva are after them, Joy is really angry at Enzo for not being close to his sister. This book is full of action from start to finish very easy to love the crazy hardware characters and the challenges they give one another! A much needed read fast read if you love these types of books I think it could be described a suspenseful action thriller to some degree definitely a enemies to lovers book with lots of sexual tension. A page turner with secrets betray that feels like you’re playing on of those types of games only your reading it. Full of danger and lots of what if’s among so much more I really enjoy it the ending made my night! The characters are so strong independent especially the female lead I love that she proves she doesn’t need no man to protect her lol:) it’s got a great bestie theme going on in this book too!.

Ok, this is the follow up to the first book in the series, Cruelest Vow. It takes place a few years later. Enzo is Lucia’s brother and Joy is her best friend. Unlike Lucia and Dar, Enzo and Joy did not grow up knowing each other. Once they meet, though, their chemistry is explosive. There is a LOT of action in this story and tons of intrigue and secrets. Stay away from reviews that discuss the plot as you don’t want to chance spoilers. This is dark mafia romance although it’s not as deep as some. That being said, Enzo is definitely not a good guy and they go through a lot on their journey to their HEA. Don’t worry if you didn’t read the first book as this can easily be read as a standalone. But, if you don’t want spoilers for Cruelest Vow you should read it first.

These men, they think they can resist the pull of love and feelings. Bless their hearts. Remember Enzo from the first book, well, he falls and he falls hard. I really love that about these types of stories. So all books are really like that, but Piper writes the story that will delve deep into your heart and believe me when I say I teared up a bit and had to get out the tissues. Besides all of the feelings flying around, this is a non-stop action-packed story that said to me “keep reading, you know you cannot stop”. This is the type of story that I really enjoy and the older I get the morally grey characters pull me toward them.

The foreshadowing from the start with Enzo agreeing to do what he can for a traitor’s last request and Joy teasing her best friend, Lucia over her gorgeous brother, Enzo who is keeping an eye over the baby shower. Yet it’s Joy’s premonitions that take center stage throughout the book when danger is near. The danger that Joy now finds herself a part of makes no sense to her, until Enzo reveals her true background. Will Enzo be able to keep Joy safe? Will the two be able to find their happily ever after? You have to read to find out and don’t expect to book down until you turn the last page!

Piper Stone does it again! Enzo is the cruel sadistic mafia enforcer. We open with him torturing and murdering a traitor in the organization. Before dying he begs Enzo to protect his daughter. Joy is a sweet gutsy woman and best friend of Lucia, wife of the Don and sister of Enzo. An attempted kidnapping of the two women occurs during a baby shower, which sets off a long sequence of events. Great characters, Enzo the evil killer who sees nothing redeeming about himself, and Joy who doesn't realize the power and courage she has. Lots of action and suspense with a nice measure of love-making. Great read!

The appreciate how characters from previous stories finally get their own love story as the series continues.
Enzo's sister is best friends with Joy and they all come together at a family event. Joy has some psychic abilities and she foresees events that may happen.
The chemistry between Enzo and Joy is off the charts. She knows she shouldn't get involved but she can't help herself!
Hold on for a harrowing ride, in the world and the bedroom. This book is not for the faint of heart or if spanking is not your thing to read about.

This is Book 2 of Tainted Regime it can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend the series as there are interconnected characters!
You can expect a fast paced well written storyline. Dark mafia romance with a feisty strong heroine and a touch her and die hero !

This time we get the story of Enzo and Joy. They are attracted to each other from the start. Their story contains cruelty. It becomes exciting when it turns out that not only Joy but also Lucia are attacked during a baby shower. The tension, suspicion, betrayal and distrust also play a role, because Enzo thinks that Joy is a traitor and that is why they were attacked. It's an emotional rollercoaster of feelings and events. It is a story that requires attention because a lot happens.

Oh my, Piper Stone you are awesome. Enzo Lazarro, the brother and and Joy, the best friend of Lucia Lazarro-DeLuca start off like fire and ice, but soon become so much more and the secrets that are revealed are a total surprise. This book is full of sizzle, steam, action, drama, twists, turns, betrayal , and so much more. Well paced, great characters, and a book 3 with another sibling!! Outstanding trilogy.

This one is a fantastic story. The author manages to redeem our Hero, even when I didn't think it possible. Joy is a feisty, independent heroine who didn't seem in need of rescuing until she was. The happily ever after ending is guaranteed, and Twisted Embrace may be read as a stand alone, although the reader is better served reading the Tainted Regime series in order. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and enthusiastically recommend it.
