Planet Wolf: Shifter's World

Rate this book
When I snuck onto Planet Wolf to spy on the Union I didn't expect to be nearly blown up.

But that's what happened. And maybe I would have died if I hadn't been rescued by them.

Jadon, Carl and Alfie--three Wolf princes who weren't supposed to be at that meeting either.

Everything would be great--steamy and hot--if only the translators in our ears hadn't been destroyed in the explosion. Now, we can't understand each other and we're stuck in the woods running for our lives.

I'm not sure how this is going to work out but they're sure acting like they like me a whole lot. Maybe certain things can be communicated without words.

It was okay. I felt the pacing was off and it felt disjointed with the abrupt transitions from one planet to another. I also didn't like how they were all gung-ho to do one thing and then they just gave up at the first sign of opposition.

Fell Flat

I thought this book was simply ok. It felt unfinished in some ways because everything moved very quickly, but I do understand that this book is part of a series. As a standalone though, it doesn't stand strong.

The FMC, Esther, is surprisingly likeable. She's lived her whole life with some mysterious illness that causes her chronic pain, seizures, fainting spells and nausea, but didn't let these symptoms stop her from truly living. She's lived a life thinking she could die at any time, so she makes a habit of facing her fears. I like that she wasn't a FMC crying all the time, begging for pity because of her circumstances. She was the type to suck it up and keep going. She was a strong FMC in my opinion.

Esther meets her three love interests, Jaden, Carl, and Alphie while on an undercover mission that went sideways. They saved her after an explosion, which damaged her ear translator, so she had no clue what her saviors were saying. I enjoyed watching them interact, despite their language barrier, but at the same time, she trusted them almost too easy or too quickly. However, this can be blamed on the whole "mates" relationship, which is really just instalove. Not really a fan of instalove myself, but it was bearable in this book. I liked how her three guys took care of her and were 100% all in with her. They weren't overly controlling and didn't think she was less than because of her illness and made it their goal to heal her. This isn't a spoiler because obviously they figure out how to heal her, but the cause of her symptoms were both unsurprising and anticlimactic. The author even gave us hints, which were very repetitive.

Honestly, there was barely any romance in this book because it was instalove and most of their relationship building happened in the first few pages when no one could understand each other. When they finally could understand each other and were in a safer situation, it's like their relationship was on steroids, because they were suddenly in love and cohabitating days later. While their relationship was sweet, their intimate scenes were nothing too exciting. The scenes were pretty basic and not too explicit. Don't get me wrong, I don't NEED explicit scenes, but it's like the author attempted to give us hot scenes, but it just fell flat. It would've been better if she had either gone all out or simply hinted at them doing the deed.

Along with the uneventful "romance", most of the book felt like it was about taking the Union (shady shifter political organization) down and healing Esther, and both events were solved in a boring way. In the end, they encountered an unforseen problem, and their solution made it seem as if all the work they had put in throughout the book was for nothing. When I finished reading I legit thought to myself "that's it?" There was no climax. Everything quickly resolved itself and if there was a problem the characters either ran or it was skipped over. This book should've been longer so the relationship aspect could've been expanded on and more pages means more time to make the book more exciting. Overall, it was just blah, which sucks because I actually liked the FMC, because strong FMCs are hard to come by.

In spite of her cousin Patrice's objections, Esther is going to board the Union shuttle with false id in order to find out their plan with the wolves. They know the Union is up to no good, but they need more proof to add to what Tiffany from Cat Planet sent to overthrow them.

Esther is ill and no one can figure out what's wrong other than an abnormality in her blood. They treat her symptoms as best they can but there's nothing to cure her. She's determined to do her best to get Doug elected and the Union out.

The voyage is quiet even sharing a room doesn't yield any information. No one realizes she's not one of them, they don't socialize, and she's merely handed a paper with Bears written on it when they land. No mention of a plan. As she's standing waiting with the others she feels someone watching her.

And then there was an explosion.

Three wolves rescued Esther from the blasts and were protecting her. She couldn't go back for her pills; she would eventually go through some withdrawal. Their translators were broken in the blast so they couldn't understand each other, that made things interesting. She made up nicknames for them, Doctor, Leader and Hunter, based on what they were doing.

Somehow, they managed to communicate basically and their relationship with begins. When Esther becomes sicker they have a long way to travel and she's getting weaker. They call for help when the reach the mountain town, but they aren't with Esther when she wakens in the hospital back on earth.

They do however manage to find her at of all things a Charity event at the governor's home. They let Doug know they are her mates. She also finds out a few more surprising things.

There's quite a bit of danger, plenty of sizzle and one surprise after another as this story progresses.

I hope there will be more books in this world.

This is book three in Rebecca Royce’s incredible Shifter’s World series, and it’s definitely a favorite for me. Although it is enjoyable as a standalone read, it will make much more sense overall if you read the first two books in the series. They’re both great books too, so it won’t be a burden, believe me. In this book, we meet Esther and her three wolf-shifter mates. In an effort to aid in ousting the corrupt Union now in power, she sneaks onto a shuttle bound for Planet Wolf to infiltrate a Union shifter meeting. When the meeting is bombed, she’s injured but luckily rescued by three handsome wolf shifters, whom she eventually learns are her mates. Her translator is destroyed in the blast, which means she can’t understand their language at all. She’s also lost the pills she relies on to stay as healthy as is possible for her. Despite all that, she feels safer and more at ease with these men—whom she has dubbed Leader, Hunter, and Doctor since she doesn’t know their actual names—than she ever has in her entire life. What follows is a beautiful slow-burn romance and a story chocked full of heat, surprises, action, and intrigue. Most of the questions left unanswered from the previous books are resolved in this one, but there are still a few lingering questions. I’m really hoping this means there’s another book coming for this series. Rebecca Royce proves once again with this book just exactly why she is the queen of paranormal reverse harem/why choose romance. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and the entire series!

Esther's life is limited. Fact. She's been sick and in pain most of her life and isn't expected to live to old age. She will never have children, travel, or even do many of the things normal people do. So, she wants to leave her mark in the only way she can think of. She wants to help get the Union ousted and her cousin elected. Her first step is to get to the Union's meeting with the Shifters off-planet. Her plan is going as designed until the meeting is blown up. Literally. Esther is rescued by Jadon, Carl, and Alfie, three Wolf Shifters, and although they can't understand each other, she's never felt safer with three men in her entire life. And never felt more alive.

I loved Esther. She displayed such strength and grace in the face of her pain and limitations. She had such a giving disposition. I loved the politics in this book. There were so many forms of discrimination, prejudice, and deep-seated beliefs. Many weren't even recognized as the restrictions or barriers they were. I enjoyed the relationships between Esther and the men. They never saw her weakness, only her beauty and strength. And I loved the revelations regarding Esther. But I wanted more. This was a short read, and I could have easily devoured another 100 pages. I wanted more information on the Union, more time with Esther and her family, and more time on the new planet. I'm hoping there will be another surprise book on Animal Planet with all of the Shifters and the end of the Union.

Esther has been sick since when she remembers. From headeaches to muscle pain to vomiting and more, she suffers every day but refuses to let it paralyze her.

Very close to her cousin, who is far along in her pregnancy, Esther volunteers for a mission on Planet Wolf, inhabited by wolf shifters of which some are redicals and others are more progressive.

She is discovered by three inhabitants that she calls the Hunter, the Healer and the Leader. What she doesn't know is that Carl, the Hunter Alfie, the Healer and Jodon the Leader, arecher fated mates.

The author creates a tale about the autocracy of some influencial beings on different planets, motivated by bigotery, power and old customs, who live on different planets with very well defined names and a new generation of younger beings tired of that outdated phylosophie who oppose these colder and older beings and their ways in fighting for liberty, love and freedom to live their own ways.

I highly recomnend andcrate this book with 5 stars.

Esther has snuck onto Planet Wolf under an assumed identity to spy on Union procedures and has barely stepped planet-side when all hell breaks loose. She’s rescued from under the debris of an explosion by three men who turn out to be wolf shifters. They’re leading her to the safety of the mountain, unaware her life saving medication was left somewhere in the rubble.
There’s a lot of connection and sweet moments in this book, and it really takes the actions speak louder than words message to heart, because there’s a language barrier in play once their translators were lost in the initial explosion.
The tromping through the wilderness portion was great, and once they could communicate things really develop.
The ending is quite rushed, and I feel like there were some really instrumental reveals in the epilogue that were completely glossed over and needed some exploration, but overall it’s a very enjoyable read.

The story itself is what I would consider an easy afternoon read with low angst with the main focus of the story on the romance between the MFC and her mates. Overall, I did enjoy the story but I did have questions were never actually answered in regard to the background of the world that we were in. There was really no background information on Union itself and why they were so corrupt. A little background information on the world that was created would have made the picture more whole versus just the tiny bits of information we did get while reading the story. Political information on what is going on with Earth as well as background information on the shifter planets for example.

The story did have promise and I do hope the author will continue the series so we can visit the planets again because it was an interesting world.

Esther had been sick literally all her life. She had to be careful what she ate, often got faint and knew when she was going to have a seizure. It just was a big part of her makeup. But doing nothing was never in the cards....Sneaking onto a ship bound for Planet Wolf, she was on an adventure. All went well until the bombing after landing.....and the 3 men she couldn't communicate with.....The leader, the hunter and the medic. They and their wolves took care of her, until she was taken from them....And what about this planet? Even sick she feels so much better....Fabulous reverse harem shifter romance. Wonderful story, kick butt heroine, swoon worthy shifters/heros. Welcome back Rebecca Royce!

Esther tries to do good in her world but when she tries to help those against the Union her plans go awry when an explosion rocks her world. Luckily for her three men come to her rescue but what do you do when you cannot understand each other?

I enjoyed meeting Esther and her men. Their story is an engaging read that pulled me in right from the start. I liked how strong Esther is and that she was not a poor girl needing to be saved. The men are just as strong and have distinct personalities yet they work well together. I enjoyed watching their relationships take shape and the fight that they have to keep the love that they have found. The story moves at a good pace and has some twists and turns to it making this a nice addition to the series.

Great read!✨

My first foray into this series, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Esther is a fascinating, and resilient FMC that I was cheering for every step of the way. I loved the unique take with her being ill. She is so intelligent, kind and determined...and wills herself to just keep going. This world is layered and really interesting. I loved the three alphas that entered her world. Talk about opening ones eyes to the reality of more than a few things. There are a few twists and turns, some spice, adventure, family, galactic politics and more within these exciting pages. Overall an A+ read that I highly recommend!

The story starts out with a bang, really. And from there kept my interest until the end. Esther is spying on the Union to help her cousin when an explosion happens and she's saved by 3 wolves. As they figure out how to communicate while getting to safety they form a bond and add to all this she has an illness and her meds are lost. When she's taken home it takes a bit but her wolves find her and they solidify their bond. The story has twists, secrets and surprises! I hope we get more from this word especially to find out what happens to the Union.

Really loved Esther. She has Spent her whole life in pain. While trying to overthrow the Union. She ends up on planet Wolf. There. She unknowingly meets her three mates and her life changes forever. I loved everything about this. It was cute and loving. The guys were great. Each of them gave Esther something she needed. Even though it was a stand alone it was connected to the other 2 books in the series but you don't have to read them to know what's going on. Sad that there won't be anymore Shifter planet books. Great book.

Really good

So I vaguely remember the blurb and being hesitant to read this. Turns out, it was nothing like I thought. Esther goes undercover, there's a huge explosion and all of a sudden, three hot guys are saving her life. Except, she's really sick and that life might not be long. Funny thing is, she's feeling the best she ever has. Now she's trecking through the wilderness, unable to speak to the dynamic trio but somehow they get each other.

So yeah, quick read, but I have to say it's one of my faves!

I enjoyed the story between Esther and her mates. It was a good story with the focus mostly there. However there were a lot of political machinations going on and even having read the other three books, there isn’t a lot of overall information. I loved the interplay between the main characters and I liked Patrice as a side character a lot and kind of wish she had a bigger role. Overall not a bad sappy afternoon read.

When you have no expectations for a future, you want to make the present count. That's how Esther found herself on a shuttle to Planet Wolf. That's when her life changes forever. Three wolf shifters come into her life and things will never be the same. Great story as always from this author. Loved everything about it.

I can’t say enough positive things about Planet Wolf. The entire book was not as I expected, in a good way. Just as I was getting used to one thing, another turn happened. Even Esther’s name is unique for this book. I loved how she interacted with her guys. She never let anything stop her. I really enjoyed Planet Wolf. This is part of a series but totally stands alone.

Esther, has an unexplained illness. Her goal is to get information to break up the Union. She travels to Planet Wolf to gather information to do so when there is an explosion. The three men that rescue her are wolf shifters. And then..... A very suspenseful read with unexpected twists. Enjoyed! Received a free copy and am posting an honest review.

Enjoyable addition to the series

I have really enjoyed this series. Each book better than the last. I really liked Esther, and I really enjoyed getting to know her and her men. My only complaint, I want more! More of the good times and more of the series.

Short but sweet

I quite liked this book, i avoided it for a while because of the whole not being able to talk to each other thing and i hate miscommunication- but it worked out nicely and they were all so in love!

Enjoyable read

It was an enjoyable book although sometimes the paragraphs felt unfinished. The storyline was good but it needed more. I would've like more backstory on the men.

I dropped this somewhere around the 50% mark. I think I am done with this series. The female lead was kind of meh and nothing else was really grabbing me. So DNF.
