Imitated many times. It is often referred to, discussed and used to settle disputes but its 18th century English often frustrates and confuses people to the point that many don't actually read it. It is the Constitution of the United States of America. I have tried to simplify it, explain it so people can read it. Hopefully gain a better understanding of this important founding document. It not only deserves to read in these times. It needs to be read at all times.
sought this book because of the publication date. ..
I was looking for a book about the constitution written during a time of relative quiet in the US. I worried later publications interpretations would be slanted or even misinterpreted purposefully to sway thinking and perception a specific way.
Call me paranoid if you want be we all know our education system has been a target for a while now.
The author is an esteemed educator. An ambassador of education and dedication to the learning welfare of children. This book is not dumbed down like most these days but explained intelligently with clarification of legal speak that turns so many off to learning.
Thanks to the author for her intelligence and determination.
If you have not actually read the constitution, this is a good walkthrough by a non-lawyer. There are a few interpretations that a lawyer will find questionable, but the thrust of the book is to make the constitution more accessible and it admirably achieves that goal.
It’s probably a good idea to read this every now and then.
I appreciated the layout. One font for the original text, a separate font for clarifications in modern language, and another font for definitions of terms. The nice thing was, about halfway through, I found I could mostly understand the original text.
With the election coming up, do yourself a favor and take a couple days to read through the constitution. Maybe make a habit of reading it before every election.
