Temp Jobs Can Be Murder!

Autumn has arrived, and Scarlett Chase is working a temp job at a local pumpkin farm where guests can enjoy a corn maze, pony rides, yummy fall treats, and many other attractions. Nothing could be more wholesome.

But not everything is as ideal on the farm as it might seem. Scarlett learns that it is struggling financially and on the brink of shutting down. Aggressive property developers are hounding the owners, trying to convince them to sell. When one of the developers ends up dead in the goat pen, Scarlett immediately suspects foul play. No one at the pumpkin farm liked the victim, but would any of them resort to murder?

Scarlett stumbles across even more mysteries at the pumpkin farm, including the spooky appearance of a witch, the disappearance of a rare vintage costume, and several customers becoming violently ill.

Are any of these mysteries related to the murder? Scarlett tries to figure it all out, but will she solve the crimes before she—or anyone else—becomes the next victim?

Murder—unlike her job—isn’t temporary.

Cursed in the Cornfield is the fifth book in the fun and clever Temp Jobs Cozy Mystery Series.

Great book!

I am excited to start on the next book in this series. I love that their are huge bigger mysteries outside of the mystery just inside this book! The clues are coming together. I can't wait to hear more. I definitely recommend the audio books! The narrative is very expressive in telling the stories. They really suck you into the story. The whole book was great as a whole.

Oh my gosh, who would have thought working in a pumpkin patch would be such an adventure, well other than this talented author, that is! I am just loving this series and with so many different jobs for the main character to try, I hope it doesn't end anytime soon. I loved the characters and spent the whole time hoping they wouldn't turn out to be the killer. I did guess who the killer was but that was because I didn't want it to be any of the others, who I quickly fell in love with. It was also nice to find out what happened to Pudding, the goat we met in the first book. This doesn't mean you have to read the other books in the series to enjoy this one but I would HIGHLY recommend that you do, as they are so much fun and you get to know the characters a lot better that way. The mystery had a lot going on with a murder, sabotage and stolen items but it all gets wrapped up and explained nicely. Scarlett's dads case (which is a long running mystery) also takes a dramatic turn. I hope I don't have to wait long for the next book.
With Halloween fast approaching, its not surprising that Scarlett's latest temp job is working on a pumpkin farm. What is surprising is how far two property developers would go to buy the farm. As far as murder? Scarlett isn't sure but she does know that it was no accident one of them is found dead in the goat pen. Is one of the family responsible? And if they want to sell the farm why sabotage it? Because when customers start getting sick and things stolen, it looks like the killer hasn't finished. Can Scarlett find out and find the missing evidence to prove who the man behind for her dads accident is?
I like the narrator for this series and hope she continues to be the narrator of choice. She makes the story entertaining and helps paint a vivid picture of the delightful characters.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

A Pumpkin Farm, Family, Friends & A cozy mystery

Cursed in the Cornfield is the 5th book in the Temp Job cozy mysteries and they are all so enjoyable! Scarlett Chase is trying to figure out what type of job she wants to do. She has a temp job for a month working at a farm that has a petting zoo, corn maze, hay rides, and sells food, crafts and produce. The farm is struggling financially and a couple of developers are pestering the family to sell. One of the developers ends up dead and Scarlett finds her in the goat pen. A nice surprise is Pudding the goat from the first book lives on the farm. There are a lot of problems and strange things happening at the farm which keeps the story intriguing. On top of that, Scarlett's father is improving after his accident which adds to the story. Scarlett's boyfriend Austin is busy studying and working and they don't get to see much of each other but he is definitely still in the picture although they work through a misunderstanding. I guessed the culprit but wasn't sure until the end. This was a great addition to the series and some story lines carried through the other books are resolved. I hope the series continues! #CursedInTheCornfield #ATempJobCozyMystery

This was such a fun Halloween read! I hadn’t figured out whodunit until Scarlett did. The showdown was much scarier for her and Austin than it would’ve been if it’d been a ghost or real witch they were meeting. I always knew corn mazes were creepy and never went in one and never plan to lol. I loved how the side stories got happy endings as well, and Scarlett’s Dad’s making such awesome progress too! I can’t wait to read the next book!

Audiobook review.

I had so much fun listening to this book! It is full of humour and the plot is very entertaining. There is a lot of suspense, and sometimes the story even gets spooky. The narration by Amber Battaglia is top-notch. It is the perfect book for Halloween (and equally enjoyable every other day of the year).

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

A perfect cozy Fall mystery

I have enjoyed all of K. B. Blake’s temp job mysteries, and this one was just as fun and suspenseful. Scarlett is a such a realistic character that we can all identify with, even though she keeps finding herself in murder mysteries! A fun and fulfilling read. I highly recommend all of the Temp Job Cozy Mysteries.

Very fun, and the clues and action were exciting. There was a Clue reference and I really thought someone was going to call Scarlet 'Ms. Scarlet'
