Her Wolf Daddy Protector

Rate this book
My fated mate will die to protect me. But I refuse to let that happen…

We have our twin boys back, but the threat is far from over. My fated mate’s enemies have set their sights on me and are resorting to frightening measures to win this war. Feral wolves are being used as living bombs, and we have to stop them before anyone else gets hurt.

Xander is building support from ally wolves, and it gives me hope that we can succeed. But when we begin to suspect that there’s a spy within our pack, if we don’t identify the culprit quickly, we’ll have no chance of winning this battle.

With the feral wolves multiplying at an alarming rate, I’m starting to think that maybe I’m the only one who can end this. I’ll do anything to save my pack and my family. And now I must decide exactly how much I’m willing to sacrifice…

I kind of hated this book. Somewhere in the chapters some character, I think Gena, calls Xander a "himbo" and it's probably the truest words of the whole book. Xander is supposed to be some big tough dominant Alpha but he is dumb as a box of rocks. He's constantly in danger but goes golfing, gets drunk, goes on a boat, all while leaving his pregnant human mate alone in a werewolf pack. People are actively trying to harm him, his mate, and steal his pups and he does NOTHING to actually defend them. People get hurt and his babies get kidnapped because he is a useless wimp. He actively stays in hostile, dangerous situations for no real reason at all, acting like he just can't say no thanks or leave.

Felicity is one dimensional. She is the human mate or a alpha, pregnant with alpha twin boys. She acts like a toddler having a temper tantrum screaming that she's a big girl. She is so out of her league with the danger around her but keeps secrets and makes choices that put her in even more danger. She is a wierd combination between the Madonna/whore dichotomy. She is saintly in her thoughts and actions (unrealistically and annoyingly) but externally valued only for her body and reproductive abilities. Something to be worshipped or owned. Never real or relatable and never a whole person on her own. Even Aubrey perpetuated this with her hyper serialized outfit choices, among other things.

Even at the end I still don't trust Aubrey and Clinton. The author spends so much time making them look shady that I couldn't get over it. There are lots of individual parts of tje storyline I can't move past, but it would make this review super long.

There was much less of Nana in this book who I actually really like. Not enough to get over the other idiot characters or storyline.

I gave this book 2 starts because the writing is actually decent and only had a few typos that I could see.

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait… but how long is the wait?

Wow, if you like intense you’ll love this book. There are betrayals, if you can call it that since betrayal always comes from a friend. These wolves may be family but they certainly are not friends. The bad guys, or should I say the bad wolves, play leading roles. They always seem one step ahead. The more we find out the less we know. The plot twists keep coming.

What about that blood curse on Marianne? Can it be broken? They say blood is thicker than water. Will love be stronger and override the curse? Never underestimate a mother’s love, but for now, it’s a waiting game.

And we can’t forget Melony. Will she suffer a curse? After all, she broke the blood vow she and her pack made. She may be delusional but her abilities to plot, plan and scheme are strong. She wants Xander and playing dirty is right up her alley. Seems like she has a lot in common with her alpha dad, Quincy.

Then there’s Samuel…. father, grandfather, alpha… and scumbag through and through. Family means nothing to him, except how he can use them for more power.

So, you now know the bad guys. How about the good guys? Why do they always seems a step or two behind? I’m thinking Xander somehow, someway will step up to the plate. Don’t forget Felicity. She’s protective and has good instincts. And now that she’s a new mother of alpha twins, I pity the person who tries to cross her. LOL, Nana Jordan trained her well.

As you read, it’s easy to know who is good and who is bad. That’s no secret. What kept me turning pages was trying to figure out what would happen next and how it would all unwind. We capture clues as we read but if ‘all’s well that ends well’ is true, we have to wait for answers in the next book.

🤔 QUESTIONS AND MUSINGS

✒︎ I do wonder how Samuel’s wolf made it out alive with both Xander’s and Marianne’s wolves tearing at his throat.

✒︎ Hmmmm, Felicity doesn’t know who her father is. Makes me wonder if he’s a wolf and if she has any latent wolf genes in her. She definitely is no pushover.

✒︎ I didn’t read the book preceding this one. However, I was able to figure out what had happened in that book and how it intertwined here.

✒︎ I love the intensity of this book but gave four stars instead of five due to the use of profanity... and I really don’t like being left hanging at the end of a book.

This is book two of the Wolves of Evergreen series and the main characters are Xander Miller, alpha wolf, and Felicity Jordan, his best friend after she moved to Evergreen to live with her Nana in high school. Felicity never knew her father and her mother had a swinging door policy of different men coming into their lives, often marrying for their money and then divorcing them soon after. Xander and his siblings Macy, Kingston and Dylan, lived a life ruled by their very strict mother Marianne, who punished them all for the slightest things. It was only after Xander asked Felicity to be his fake fiancé when his mother wanted to see him mated, that the mating pull actually happened and they both had their moon dreams of the other, a very shifter thing. Xander’s father had stepped down from his alpha position when he felt he was ready and should have been enjoying his life with his wife and mate, but she had gone off with the feral alpha of the neighbouring Carter’s Creek pack, Quincy Houghton, after trying to abduct and kill Felicity, not wanting a human for her son’s mate! Now Felicity is one month pregnant with twins, out of a short four month pregnancy and abut to move into her dream home she had saved for ages to buy. When Xander finds a threat on their doorstep as they are packing, the move is postponed and he takes her back to the pack house for safety. She also needs to agree to a mating ceremony asap, so the rest of the pack will treat her as one of theirs and protect her when Xander can’t.

The celebrations are interrupted by Xander’s uncle Clinton Morrow, his mother’s sister, who he has never really known. They had invited him and his father Samuel to be courteous, but never had a reply. So his showing up at that precise moment was a bit worrying. Clinton finding out she is carrying twin alphas makes him offer for one of them to become alpha of Portersmith, the Morrow family pack lands, and asks them to go and visit. They intend to only stay a day, but other matters soon get in the way and the reclusive Samuel is playing with them all, especially his own son. Xander can see a little of how his mother became like she did, as Samuel may have given over the alpha lead of the pack to Clinton, but he continues to rule everyone with fear, the only way he sees it should be! A shocking invitation for Felicity soon has her helping another human, but also not telling Xander, knowing he would want to kill the person, no matter that it would probably start a war! Their visit is extended long past the time they are comfortable with, but Xander has to play his alpha card very careful so as not to annoy distant family, no matter what. All Felicity wants to do is to get back to their own pack and home, with those she knows and trusts. But they aren’t safe from the threat to their babies, even with supposed family, as the threat from Marianne and Quincy gets closer and no one can seem to find a trace of them!

The book ends on a very sharp knife edge of a cliff hanger, just as you thought matters were getting settled. You really get into Xander and Felicity’s struggles by then and could be fully committed, only to have a chasm explode as the story ends abruptly. So fair warning! Felicity manages to uncover a large number of secrets about Samuel, but that just makes him ever more dangerous to her, Xander and even his own son. Felicity can sense some of the wolf vibes that as a human she shouldn’t be able to, but while she thinks she is 100% human, not knowing who her father is kind of really means she can’t actually be sure of that! That was a bit of a silly premise in the book for me. Loved how Xander was so protective of her and wanted to protect her and their babies, but he knows far more about wolf law and customs than she does and has to get her to follow his wishes, even when maybe he should have questioned her reluctance about some matters for the warning they were! I would have loved to not have it end quite the way it did, but I am obviously now looking to get the next book asap to find out what happens. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

“She was my mate. She wouldn’t lie to me.”

Book two of the wolves of Evergreen story, this is a continuation of the first book and just like book one is a cliffhanger. While the book is good, it does suffer a bit from middle part syndrome. It’s not the first which gets us excited about the story and it’s not the last that ties everything up and provides closure along with the HEA. The story continues where the last book left off and without spoiling anything we have more drama, intrigue, curses, secrets and through it all Xander and Felicity’s love. The focus of the story is much more on the drama than on Xander and Felicity’s love but it’s still steamy and interesting. To be honest, though, I probably wouldn’t have read it if I hadn’t been almost forced to since I read the first book, not knowing it was a cliffhanger, and loved the characters too much not to stick around to see them through to the end. It’s why I also plan to read the third and final book when it comes out, even though I am frustrated with having to wait almost four more months. I suggest anyone who is interested in reading this to wait until the last book is published in December and then read all three books together. If I had known this was a three part trilogy that’s what I would have done. But, I’m committed now and determined to see how it all works out.

Danger Around Every Corner … there’s a price to pay for love

The twin boys are safely back in Xander and Felicity’s arms. Felicity’s dad is with them and, believe it or not, Marianne, Xander’s traitor mom, is back too… which doesn’t make the pack too happy. And the ‘relationship’ between Marianne and Felicity becomes verrry interesting.

Ahhh, if that were the least of their problems. Things get really explosive in this book... literally! The ‘family feud’ is as dangerous as they come. Bitterness, jealousy and self-righteous selfishness are taken to extreme. Add that to the ancestral curse that Marianne is under, something has to give…. but what and how?

There is a lot of action and interaction involving feral wolves and ‘other’ types of supernaturals geared up for the battle of their lives. Xander loves Felicity so much he’s willing to pay the ultimate price to keep her and his twin babies safe.

🤔OBSERVATIONS:

✒︎ This book is loaded with profanity, which is not necessary at all. The book’s emotion and action are enough to draw the reader and the profanity is a detractor…. hence, 3 1/2 stars instead of five.

✒︎ At first I was confused as the book’s title threw me off. I was convinced I’d already read it, or at least a book by the author with the same title. After searching, I found a review I’d done last August with the same title but said it was book two where this is book three.

Felicity bought her dream house but had to move to the pack house to keep her and the twins safe after she had been kidnapped by Xander’s mother and the alpha of the pack next to them and they were on the run and the twins were threatened. Had a mating ceremony met his uncle Clinton who told him that the twins were boys and both alphas, asked if when they were grown for one to be his heir since he didn’t have any children. Went to see where his mother had come from getting along with the uncle and aunt but then his grandfather decided to keep Felicity and the twins, they got away with the uncle’s and aunt’s help. Mother saved Felicity from the grandfather and she saved the mother. The ending made me cry! Good book!.

Xander and Felicity got their twins back but she was still wanted by his grandfather to use so Quincy the man helping Samuel to take down the pack to get her, was sending in wolves that were carrying bombs in their bodies they died they exploded. Worked it out that to use a smaller dose to take them out so they could remove the bombs then sent to a rescue because they couldn’t shift. They felt there was a traitor but it was a bird in the air which was caught Felicity fed him and took care of him, he then told them everything he knew then sent to Xander’s uncle’s place because he was just a young kid Quincy disappeared so his mother went after him. Felicity was sent to Las Vegas during the war then came back, found out that Samuel had been killed but Xander had gone feral. She found him out of her home but she put food out for it gradually the wolf came to trust her and let Xander be human again. Good book!.

This is the second installment of Xander and Felicity's story. Felicity is pregnant and Xander wants a mating ceremony to cement their relationship and Felicitys place in the Evergreen pack. After the ceremony Xanders uncle shows up and talks them into visiting him and his grandfather Samuel. From there things take a dark turn. There is more to the Morrow manor and Samuel than they realize. Can they escape or will they be trapped. Can they stay ahead of those who are after them and the babies or will they be torn apart? There is plenty of drama and twists and turns in this storyline that keep you guessing. I can't wait for the next installment to see what happens.

As Felicity and Xander recover from the recent events, Xander wants to have a mating ceremony to show the pack what Felicity means to him. When his Uncle appears Xander and Felicity agree to visit them at Morrow Manor and meet his grandfather, Samuel. Once there events take a sinister turn and put everyone at risks, including the babies. Jam packed with drama, suspense and intrigue, the story continues and I can't wait for the next installment.

Felicity and Xander are together and they are happy. They go to meet. Xander’s relatives and their world tips on its axis!
This is a great book and you get to see so much of Felicity and Xander’s relationship develop. They are so hot and cute together.
There are so many new characters, some nice, some brave and others are downright evil. There is also a nice twist to the story.
This is a great book, with many revealing moment but, there is still so much to discover in the next instalment.

This is a continuation of Xander and Felicity's story. Their twins are back home after being kidnapped but their problems with Samuel and Quincy continue. They are threatening war and hurting others in the pack and town if they don't get what they want. Samuel wants Felicity as his mate even though she is Xander's mate already. Add into that feral wolves being used as a live bombs and the possibility of a traitor living among them and the tension is palpable. Felicity feels she might be the only one that can stop all this but at what cost. Will Xander and Felicity get their HEA or will outside forces destroy their chance at happiness. Check it out to see.

Felicity and Xander get their ceremony to make it official. Then off to the grandfathers estate where everything starts to go wrong. She must protect their twins as danger and hostile relatives are all around. Not many answers here as the storyline is still ramping up in intrigue. Can not wait to see what more happens in their path.

Danger is Escalating . . .

Felicity and Xander are best friends who discovered they are Fated mates. Now she is expecting twin sons. Xander is trying to protect her, maybe a little more aggressively than she would like. Visiting family might be the safest way to do this, but apparently things are not as they seemed. Has he put them at even greater risk by going elsewhere? Will someone try to kill them now that they are more isolated? Is there any way to escape?

Fantastic

This was a fantastic wrap up to the series. Got to see Felicity's relationship with her newly found father grow along with both her and Xander's relationship with Xander's mother resolve itself as the family curse lifted. There were just so many wonderful things going on throughout despite their struggles with the shifter war, but everything was wrapped up and resolved nicely. A great series.

Dragged on...

This book felt like it was never going to end but it didn't take you anywhere. Not super fond on the new characters, felicity lost her backbone, Xander got snowed and didn't listen to his mate. Abandoned his pack for what? Some man he'd never met before? Didn't feel true to the characters from the first book..

I loved the first book SO much but I started reading it because it was a standalone. As I finished the first book, which ends with a huge cliffhanger, the author then released info.about the second book. So now that i have tead the second book i learn this is a trilogy! Now I am 2/3 done with the trilogy and I just want to be done with the story.

I loved being back with Xander & Felicity. The love between these two characters is heartwarming. The only thing I was disappointed in was the jump between the final chapters. I can't say why without a spoiler. I loved Felicity's unshakable faith in Xander & their love for each other. The ending was lovely but sad it's over & I don't get these characters in my life anymore.

Too many typos and a dragging plot made this a tedious read. I only kept reading to find out the fate of the evil grandfather, and it wasn't even described. The ending wasn't very well-developed. Honestly, a few hundred pages could have been cut from books 2 and 3 to allow the author to give more than an anticlimactic ending and the trilogy still would have been too long.

The ending fell flat. Two of the main villians were killed off page so the ending just felt a little anticlimactic.

And I'm Guessing that Zayn will take over the pack in Maine given that Doris has agreed to let one of Felicity and Xanders sons to take over that pack. It never explicitly states that Zayn was adopted, but given Marianne's curse was broken after saving him that's my assumption.

My first books by Sky Wilson. The first two are very entertaining with some awesome plot twists and hateable villains. I'm sorry I read them before the 3rd one was out because it has a helluva cliffhanger.

Not sure what happened but this book is part of the first book on this app. I thought I was getting the continuation only to find that the continuation hasn’t come out yet and the second book is the second half of the first book.

A fitting conclusion to this story about Xander and Felicity as they continue their fight against Quincy and Samuel. As the fight turns desperate with feral wolves being used against them, they will have to think outside of the box to find a way to defeat them and to finally have the life that they want together.
