I can see everyone’s future but my own. I’ve lived most of my life as a recluse because leaving my house means being bombarded with visions of the possible futures that exist with every step I take. If that person crosses the road here, they live, but if they go to the traffic lights at the corner, they’ll get hit by someone running the red. It’s a curse, and one I do my best to hide from until I’m dragged on a mission to rescue my sister. Not that my assassin sibling needs my help. What I don’t expect is to be hit by a wave of power that throws my ability into overdrive—and threatens my sanity. Rather than drag my sisters into my nightmare, I enlist the aid of a professor specializing in arcane history. A man I could easily love, but I already know how that ends—with him dying at my feet. There has to be a way to change the future, but what if my choices bring about the apocalypse?
Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
I typically love this author but this book was painful. I got so irritated with the FC and her constant woe is me, I’m a powerful seer boohoo even though I’m 40 and have been seeing the future since turning 16. You’d think she was young with fresh new seer powers but no. She’s 40. And has been seeing the future since she was 16. I’m sorry but that’s a long ass time to be CONSTANTLY CRYING ABOUT YOUR POWERS. Not only that, but she tries to be so overly good, it’s nauseating. “Oh I didn’t mean to kill this child murderer and women killer! I’m so good!!” It made the FC the blandest Mary Sue only made worse because the book is geared towards adults, not teens.
Enter John (the blandest name ever) and he instantly took over as her protector. He also is the most bland stereotypical book boyfriend ever. It’s actually hilarious because you can just imagine the author writing him so he would perfectly fit the FC. He must have a baby play kink because he treated the FC like a delicate new born. Cutting her food, trying to help blanket her seer powers, even to his own detriment, washing her clothes, all so we can make the pretty delicate snowflake smile. He was constantly coddling her because all she did was cry. And I’ll repeat - THIS IS A 40 YEAR OLD WOMAN! Not just Jerry I mean Jon either, Everyone in her vicinity had to treat this 40 year old WOMAN with kid gloves. Misery loves company I suppose. With all the wining the FC does about her gifts, she acts like shes never received visions before your introduced to her. But no, again, she’s lived with these same powers for 40 flippin years. 🙄 my eye rolling is causing a headache.
Either way, Could the author not make her, you know, act her age? Why make her 40 going on 2?? It just screams “I’m trying to reach a different audience by making a middle aged teen, because I fail to understand how non-teenagers act.” And THAT screams “I’ll do anything for that sweet sweet cash”.
So that’s this book in a nutshell. A pathetic 40 year old teenager, who doesn’t know how to wipe her own ass, while she cries and complains about her powerful seer ability that she doesn’t know how to control unless we’re at a point in the story that calls for progression then our pathetic FC turns into the All Powerful to save the day.
Honestly this is your typical FC who happens to be older in THIS book, but with the same maturity as all the other FCs you see so much in this fantasy genre. But hey, at least she ain’t a virgin. 😂
Side note: HOW DOES SHE GO PEE IF A SLIGHT TOUCH CAUSES VISIONS? Because if I’m bombarded with thousands of people prior to me shitting on the toilet, I’d probably jump off a cliff.

Good book I enjoyed this book but didn’t love it as much as book 1. Its mainly because I like my heroine tough and a little rough around the edges like Eros in book 1. Frida appears more scared, timid and unable to handle her seer ability. John is a nice guy but also not edgy. The plot is cool though so it I enjoyed listening to this book. More is revealed about the entity that was released in book 1 and why it was locked up. The ending was super cool and I love all that was revealed and the action involved. I recommend this series and excited to move on to book 3.
When you are so caught up in the story, when something significant happens and you actually stop and yell, in public, you know it’s a good story! These two are the seemingly weak links in the story, but we quickly find out, abilities and fate are not what they seem. A delicious slow burn to their romance, while lots of action, intrigue, and secrets keep them occupied. And while these two have their part of the story resolved, there is still lots to happen, as our epilogue set us up!
3.6 Would be a higher rating but for the gratuitous sex scene detail that is crass and not at all scintillating, given it leaves nothing to the imagination. Maybe women readers like it, but I skip thru it, since it adds nothing to the narrative or plot-line. Brings an otherwise fun read down two notches.
I really enjoyed this book, as I hoped I would after the first one in this series. The mysteries were interesting, characters entertaining, chemistry excellent… this was wonderful read with great story and I’m looking forward to third book and the conclusion to this series.
Was not expecting this anxiety riddled character to be transformed into one I liked and rooted for. So many surprises in this book. Enjoyed it from start to end. Looking forward to last sister.
I adored Enyo because she was so strong, I didn’t much like Frieda because she seemed wimpy, but man was I wrong she’s got one heck of a punch when she lets it go. She and John make a perfect couple I can’t wait for the next book.
“ I got my first vision of the future when I turned sixteen. It happened during an eclipse.”
Sisters Enyo the shadow warrior Dina a witch Frida, this books main heroine, a seer who can see futures
“Someone entered the room from the living area, blond hair tousled, face still groggy from sleep. “What’s going on?” I blinked and wavered on my feet, for there, decades after I’d first seen him, was the man from my very first vision. And when he smiled in my direction, I knew without needing a glimpse at the future I was in trouble.”
“I’ve only met one other true seer. She called herself Lady Clara and only got her visions in spurts. She never saw the branches like I did.”
“If you wish to say goodbye, I can wake him.” The kind offer surprised me. Pity I had to reject it. My lips pinched. “No, leave him sleeping. Otherwise, he’ll insist on coming.” He’d die for me.”
“An arm lifted, the sleeve draped over the hand as it pointed at them. Frieda muttered, “That didn’t happen in my dream.” “It’s just your imagination. The mirror only shows what you’re thinking.” “But I wasn’t thinking about him,” she replied in a whisper. A chill breeze suddenly swept past his cheek, the feel of it unnatural. “Take your hand off the mirror.” He tried to keep his tone calm so as to not frighten Frieda. “I can’t.” A tiny thread of panic in those words”
