Despite this, she longs for a deep bond with someone she can share her life with. What begins as a matter of convenience soon blossoms into something more intense. However, as their connection deepens, she realizes that whether they're in a relationship or not, he will never let her go because for as long as he’s alive, she will forever be The Don’s Virgin Possession.

My my my... The story had so much going on, and I was suspended in the drama. Folks who know me, know that drama isn't my thing. Give this story a whirl and see if you agree with my assertion. 3.5 stars

I think I was truly held against my will with this story. Omari and Juli were completely different characters, in terms of their lifestyles but under the surface they had a lot in common. Mesha Mesh continues to pen stories that leave me utterly speechless and simultaneously questioning my beliefs. The first encounter for the characters was rocky; it was a tense and emergent scene but I knew I would like Juli. She is book smart but clearly had been through some things in life that made her not feel intimidated by Omari. The prologue laid the foundation for the type of man Omari was— a no-nonsense, dominant, and fearless man. I think overall the book was good. It starts at a slower pace but there’s a lot to unpack as the story progresses and I don’t think we’ve reached the climax yet. I am eager to see how Juli & Omari can overcome the surprise at the end.. the book has elements of darker romance, there’s kidnapping, stalking, bloodshed.. but stay the course-it’s worth it!

Mmmmm

Let me first say that I enjoyed the venacular and that the leasing lady had a extremely strong will...
The wordiness, excessive use of "Dr. Mohammed" and pace took the story down ... we get a very green woman to the world and extremely traumatized by her pass to end up with an equally traumatized man with control issues...it needed more dialog and less words but buy the time story starts is over... not sure if I will be reading book 2 or not

Too Many Insignificant Details

Some authors are truly linguistic, they like to describe the same scenes over and over using as many different words as possible. Unfortunately, I like simplicity. I found myself skimming quite a bit as I was reading just to avoid the long paragraphs of nothingness. I do not like to skim while reading it truly takes away from the experience. So even though the plot is solid and the characters are interesting, I’m going to stop here. I am not interested in reading part 2.

The pros to this book are:
1. Dark romance
2. Dark BLACK romance(Praise God!!)
3. Enemies to lovers, captor x captive, virgin FMC, stalking and eventual kidnapping and arranged/forced marriage are the tropes and themes in the book.
4. Morally gray MMC(Omari definitely ain't a hero)
5. Chemistry between the characters

I didn't love this book but it was fairly enjoyable. There were cons in it that could've made this book great however. Those being:
1. Constant grammatical errors. It's obvious the author doesn't have an editor. She needs to get one.
2. Inconsistencies. Some examples are, early in the book, she described Juli as being statuesque. Later in the book she reveals her height to be 5'6". 5'6" is not statuesque. She's literally two inches above average height for a woman. Another example is once again, early in the book, she mentions that Omari's friend, Malik is walking behind him. Malik was in the hospital recovering from being shot. How was he walking behind him??
3. Lack of description. For a good portion of this story, the author didn't describe what Juli's skin color looked like. It's not til much later we find out she has ebony skin. She's dark skinned. This should've been revealed early into the story. I'm a visual person and I like knowing what the characters look like.
4. The FMC. I didn't dislike Juli but she had two qualities authors who write dark romance often give their female characters. 1. Although she had book smarts(she was a trauma surgeon and graduated high school and college early) she had little common sense. She was also naive as hell at 29. Things that people with sense would know not to do, she did. Like calling 911 to report she had been kidnapped. Omari is a mafia Don, he has police connections. Why would you call them?? She was also too weepy. I understand that everybody reacts differently to being taken but what is crying going to do when this man doesn't care about your tears. He has no problem dropping bodies casually and he's supposed to care about tears. Please BFFR. She would go from crying one minute about her situation to suddenly becoming ballsy and telling him off. She switched on and off from both moods a lot.
5. Unrealistic love confession. Literally a good portion of the book, Omari and Juli are at odds with each other. She stayed fighting him. Yet somehow at the end she's in love!? How? There was no buildup to it at all.
6. The cliffhanger. This book is 266 pages. Not a long book at all. The author literally could've just added another 100-200 pages to the book to make it a full length novel. Instead she ended it on a cliffhanger. I will read the next book to know how the story ends but she could've easily finished Omari and Juli's story in one book.

All in all, this book wasn't perfect but I liked it enough. We don't have a lot of dark black romance books unfortunately so I'm happy anytime an author just tries to give us something different. I say it all the time and I'll keep saying it. There are a lot of black readers who read and enjoy dark romance. The market is there for black authors if they just tried. So is the support. I didn't love this book but the effort is appreciated and much needed.

Surprised!

Well! That was a surprise! This must be who the lady was running from! I'm ready to see what Juli doing because Omari & Dante had her messed up for two separate reasons.

Juli (pronounced July like the month) meets Omari when his friend comes into her emergency room, gravely injured. Omari is a brand new don, trying to get out from under his father's terrible legacy and overwhelming shadow and immediately decides he wants the doctor. It doesn't hurt that the other dons think the thing that will solidify his legacy is a wife.

Okay, so this was dark. Omari's struggle with his father's actions and his worries as a new don were done well. I liked those aspects of the story. And y'all know I love a good kidnapping plot line. He snatched that little doctor up and took her for himself, after some obsessive stalking (why are you in that lady's underwear drawer, sir?) and then it was on. I did like how they leaned into each other eventually, but there seemed to be something missing in how they got there. I wish that had been explored a bit more, which is funny to say since the book was so wordy. Went on a bit longer than I thought it would. I also liked how he gave her the means to continue her career, and how his brother warmed up to her. Omari did a little too much in my opinion, when it came to how he handled Juli. And the reason I'm saying that is because there's a point in the book where they acknowledge their MUTUAL attraction and even act on it. So him going so heavy handed to force her when she's already shown that she'll open up to him willingly didn't make sense. I feel like a smarter man would have had more patience and learned how to finesse her. Speaking of finesse, I thought Juli did a little too much as well. Resisting was fine--she was supposed to, because of how she got there. But the book used her exposition to talk about her past and how smart and tough it made her, but she did a lot of careless things (like her bachelorette where she was secure and felt someone watching, but still made the decision to then go someplace LESS secure????). And she handled him like she could outmatch him in brute strength when she clearly couldn't. She just did this thing where she tried to bully him back all the time, which didn't seem smart. I feel like a wiser woman would have learned how to finesse him and use it.

The book ended on a cliffhanger and had I known that at the outset, I may have waited to read it. But the plot twist was a good one. This was an okay read.

I Like the Spirit of the book

On the hunt for good Black mafia dark romance recs, I was swerved in this direction. On the first page, I was rubbing my hands together in glee, kicking back and enjoying the ride. Big red flag: the characters need more smoothness or finesse. The book is aight, but some word choices leave a sour taste in one's mouth. Characters are described as whining or smirking, sneering making their behaviors sound immature.

#DaddyComeGetThis aka Omari
Omari is a great dark romance anti-hero/bad guy. He's menacing, he murks people, he smirks a lot. Nothing says dark romance MMC like a tall drink of water trying to be all dominant. The biggest issue with this book is the FMC. He starts sooo dark but becomes a little simpering by the end.

#JejuneJuli
Juli is so worrisome. She's so vexing it's almost like she's the villain. Starting off decent enough with a sprinkle of charm, I thought ok then, here we go. Unfortunately, Juli swiftly landed in the land of the BRAT. For a doctor who allegedly graduated high school early, I was shocked by how young Juli behaved. She didn't make moves like an almost 30-year-old woman. That was disappointing. A sheltered or shy woman doesn't equate to immature and borderline childish.

List of things the FMC ruins (⚠️Major Spoilers🛑⚠️):

😞She ruins her engagement with an immature Sike-style joke
😞She ruins the ladynapping plot by being a mary sue
😞She ruins her bachelorette party with gross shenanigans and then wonders why her possessive Don Finance is upset.

#smexytimes
The book has a couple of kinky scenes going on that are panty-melting, but it definitely isn't D/s,w which is fine. We still have to endure moments where Juli is a brat with a capital B. There is a spanking scene, some rough commands, sex with tied-up hands, and good 😸 licking scenes.

#badquotesthatarenotBAD
Something about this line hits wrong in an OTT-J/P mafia romance book: "Omari wasn't the only boss in this relationship, and he had better learn that sooner rather than later." Whew....my immediate response would have been, "Who are you leading, little girl?" She's barely able to be a strong adult, yet she's supposedly able to make whack demanding choices.

The Don's Vitgin Possession

I just completed The Don's Vitgin Possession by @Mesha Mesh Presents. I have good news and bad news. I will start with the good news. This was a really good and entertaining story that kept my interest. I am a Mesha Mesh fan. I expected nothing less. The bad news is I listened to the audio version of book one, and it was not great. I almost DNF'd it. The story was good, but narration was bad. This is the part I hate. Giving a bad review. The narrator did not make the flow naturally, especially with MMC. He sounded like he was trying to be an old white man from another galaxy and not a black man from New Orleans. Without going into further detail of the narration, the story was overall good. This is my opinion. I hope to read this story because it is good. Judge for yourself. Happy reading!

Boring

I got to 28% and finally called it quits. This was like watching paint dry, and through characters was like running your nails across a chalk board. I've read books by this author before and they were pretty good. I do not understand how she thought this would be a good one to put out. It was like reading an erotica about slow people. 🤦🤦 This was entirely toooooooo wordy, toooooo descriptive and toooo boring. Omari really turned me off when he broke into ole girl house and started smelling and taking her panties. That's not cute AT ALL. He was super lame with money and anger issues.

This was just horrible. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Mario Puzo move over!

the thing is: if Juli hadn’t been a virgin when she got invited to dine with Mob Boss Omari, they’d have likely just done the thing & gone about their lives. however, her virginity triggers some Kevin Spacey “American Beauty”-type response and it takes the rest of the story to tell the tale! warning: Juli’s orphaned status is of SIGNIFICANT importance. I was hot/cold on Omari. too temperamental. I like my fictional dons of the Corleone school and less Tony Soprano, but it works here because it’s his passion that fires the plot. what happens next? I CAN’T WAIT to find out!

The Don

I really enjoyed this story. The characters as well as the storyline. Omari is no nonsense take charge type of person but when he cane in contact with Dr. Muhammad everything changed. Dr. Muhammad's life was all work no play but it all changed when the casino was shot up. The attraction was their on both ends and I feel like if she didn't go looking for him he would jer hence how they got together. The thing I like is that even though they had their woes about each other it was no denying their feelings. I feel like the torture has just begun on both of their parts because I did not see that ending at all!!!

Honestly, I’m just here for Priest. 🤣🤣

Omari is an unhinged mafia Don that falls in love with Dr. Juli (pronounced July) Muhammad shortly after meeting her. They seem to have a lot in common, traumatic childhood, trust issues, tough exteriors and more. And magically - after she goes out in the hopes to find him and does and there’s some loving- he her kidnaps her and they fall in love!

There was one thing that was annoying in the book. He literally only called her Dr. Muhammad up until about 70% of the book. After he has her kidnapped and everything. I hated it.

Priest was funny! We need more of him. Nice little twist at the end. Give it a try.

That ending literally blew my mind

Whew child I am in total shock because I definitely did not see that bomb that dropped coming. Juli finally came to grips with being with Omari to only learn a crazy secret that could destroy everything they have accomplished. I truly hope that Juli and Omari survive what happened because they are perfect for each other. Dante deserves what ever he gets in this book especially after he comes back to try and claim the very child that he gave away because she wasn’t a boy so sad.

Conflicted Don!!

Omari got rid of the King because he was a tyrant who put of him and Priest. He all ready got rid of their mama. I think of kidnapped Juli because she reminded him of their mama. Juli has a little bit in her and a lot of sassiness. After she realized it was no escaping Omari. Even Priest, Malik and Honor like her. She is still on the fence about Honor. Omari sexed her into submission. Omari still loves Juli, he was to really think hard about their marriage. Dante is evil as hell. Got Juli thinking she was an ophan and I think Miss Anise is her mama

It is pure madness

This book started off with a bang and ended the same way!!! Juli was just getting started with her life as a surgeon and then boom she got kidnapped by a boss that had became obsessed with just wanting her. Omari had an obligation to fill but he was sprung for the good old doc lol. Dante was on a suicide mission coming after the Asante Mafia. This secret being revealed at the end has my mouth on the floor….. on to the finale

Hmmmm

While it is well written… you can definitely see where the influences for this story came from. Fifty Shades Of Grey & 365 Days movies. The subject matter didn’t appear fresh or innovative and some things were so far fetched. I found myself rushing through to see how and if the story would progress. I gave 3 stars because it was a least well written. I most likely will pass on book 2. Sorry but this one just didn’t do it for me. 😒🤷🏽‍♀️

This book was ok I guess but it was way too wordy. I’m like damn, we get it? Like the characters overly described every thought they had it was too much.

Another thing, there was a lot of confusion( for me) on the physical appearance of the characters. One minute the FMC is described as “espresso” then “molten honey” and then “ebony”. She was also described as having long curly black hair but then the MMC said she had Locs. Chile, which one is it? 😭

*sigh*

Mannn, lol, Omari was not playing with Juli. I loved the connection with Priest and Juli; that moment they shared was everything bond worthy. Now that ending!!! I had some suspicions, but the person who it turned out to be, I did not think it would. Wheww 🥴🥴🫠🫠🫣. Please book two us next month.

Good Book

This book had me on pins and needles. Omari was a little crazy. How can you kidnap a woman and then she falls in love. Juli had it rough growing up. She had no family or friends. I believe her and Omari were meant to be. That ending though. Who would have thought. Can't wait for part 2. Very good book.

I wanted to love this book, but I just couldn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I like the storyline. But! I hated the MFC. Like she as hot and cold for 62% of the book, but magically falls in line at the end and the plot twist was pretty good. I love Omari character & Priest, I felt like she could’ve ended up with Priest she had a better connection with him anyways

A rotten dirty dog. I wonder was that her adopted father ot the father that gave her away at birth. It's about to go down. She is going to bring him down to his knees. He really don't know what she have going through her head, and he don't know who her best friend is. Priest and her husband will skin him alive.

Time for part 2!

I know I'm not the only one who felt like the beginning sounded like it came straight out of a Batman movie 😂😂 I read it in a creepy voice and everything! Anywhoo... overall this was a great read! I really liked Juli and Omari once they really got together. But that ending though!!! I hope Omari don't do my girl wrong ...

Captive in Love

This book had me hooked! Omari is something else, he definitely is not traditional, he kidnapped the good doctor because he felt the strong connection. Juli said she wanted to experience, I don’t think she meant quit like this. Now how is Omari going to handle the words he spewed to Dante

🤯 Emotional Rollercoaster! Loved it

I couldn't believe the lengths Omari would go to in order to have Juli as his wife. I love how Juli asserted herself, but she was also friendly and loving to the staff. Dante is a despicable person 😑 he deserves a firing squad. Priest protects his brother with his everything 🥰 I love the brotherly bond Omari had with Malik and Honor.

I was expecting this book to be good because other people had a lot of great things to say but I didnt so much. I feel like the book was dragged and was repetitious. I also feel like it was more “mafia” like than actually telling a good love story. It wasn’t a good balance between the two in the story. I would say 80% of the story is about the mafia . I don’t think ill be reading part 2 .

This was a beautiful love story. My heart went out to Juli when she would have those nightmares. It's sad what some of these so-called foster parents do to a child that's in need of love
