Vera Rivers' debut novel, 'Claimed by Fate', is the first book in her new "Fae King of Ironhelm" Duet. The book tells the story of Zephyrine, also known as Zephy, who is bound by a blood oath to marry Prince Cade on his twenty-fifth birthday, when he will become the King of Ironhelm. Failure to uphold the Oath will destroy the entire kingdom. However, neither Zephy nor Cade desires to marry each other. As they attempt to fulfill their obligations, they face several obstacles that threaten to prevent their union. The question is, who is behind these obstacles? Who would want to see the downfall of their kingdom? Furthermore, the chemistry between Zephy and Cade is intense and undeniable, but their lack of trust in one another prevents them from pursuing a happy ending. There were several twists and turns throughout the story that made for a thrilling adventure. Vera Rivers does an excellent job of keeping the reader engaged and invested in the story. I'm eagerly anticipating the release of 'Bound by Fate'.

I was looking for a good fae story but man this was not it. The characters were in their twenties but acted like children. I just did not enjoy this at all.

If you enjoy stories about the Fae and romance this is a must read.  CHAINED BY FATE is the first installment in the King Of Ironhelm series by Vera River. The characters drew me in from the beginning to the end, leaving me wanting more. The characters were captivating and the plot drew me in till the end and left me wanting more. The mildly steamy scenes are well placed and not just for thrills. Warning, this does ends in a cliffhanger.

A Blood Oath for two future royals to marry is coming to fruition, but neither want to marry the other. Unfortunately the Blood Oath requires to be honored or the Ironhelm Kingdom will be destroyed. But, someone or something is also at work to prevent the union, but why if it will destroy the realm.

Will these two overcome their dislike for each other?  Can they save the world?  Read on and find out.

Chained by Fate was a good read that had a bit of mystery and suspense, but not as much romance as I was expecting. Zephyrine (Zephy) and Cade were good characters that were bound to fulfill their duty in order to protect King Cade's homeland. This is honestly the first book I've read where a wolf and a fae are mates and I liked that it was different. The steamy scenes were not lacking when it came to this story, but I do wish there was more romance between the two main characters. This was full of threats coming from unknown sources, but I suspect that I know who is involved as this story has a jealous ex. It ends with a cliffhanger and I'm looking forward to reading the next book to get the rest of Zephy and Cade's story.

Did not like the author's writing style. Words are used just because they are words used in most romance books nowadays. This book reads as if something from Wattpad or those pay by chapter apps.

Also, I didn't like either of the MCs. Granted, they're young (MMC is 25 and FMC is 21) but they're supposed to be ruling a kingdom and ugh the 3rd act miscommunication trope is just bad.

Think of this as the first half of the book as it abruptly ends and will continue on to Book 2. Will I read book 2 and the next duet in the fantasy world of Mystara? Yes, I will because I accidentally started the 3rd kingdom's story because this series is not properly labelled. Ugh.

I slowly got interested in this book. It is cute and on the predictable side. We go between the points of view of Zephyrine and Care our romantic leads. There are a few sex scenes before the wedding. You can easily see why they react the way they do to each other since we know their thoughts. Unfortunately for me, by the end of the book I was exasperated with Zephyrine and her insecurities with Cade. It feels like Cade grows a bit while Zephy is stuck in her loop causing a seesaw feeling. This is a Duet and it leaves you with a cliffhanger to get you ready for the second book.

What an incredible read! The author has done such a great job with this well written fantasy romance that you find yourself drawn into this incredible world that she has designed for us to enjoy. It’s an exciting read as we follow our characters, characters that have been bought to life and you feel as though you know them. Characters that will have you feeling all the emotions of hate, anger, fear and love and you are hoping they get their hea. Exciting, enthralling, passionate and captivating, I cannot wait to read the next book.

Zephyrine, also known as Zephy, is traveling to Ironhelm to become the future Queen of the Prince, who will become the King of Ironhelm once he turns 25 and marries her at his coronation. Cade is all for doing what is best for the Kingdom, even if it means pushing his current lover out of his life and marrying an unknown woman. This story is full of doom and gloom, love, romance, and steam, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

I did like the plot. I also loved how Cade was trying his best to show Zephy that he was all in. I really hated his ex. The enchantress was cool I would have liked to know more about her and what her piwers really were. I would've liked more information about the magic and just everyone's powers really. You kind of know that the prince has powers but you don't really learn what all of them are.

Bit dramatic that ending tho but I understand.

Over all I just would've liked more background but it's a nice romantacy.

This story was a riot and introduced to two people engaged to be married when they first meet each other. Cue the drama, insanity, danger, surprises and dash of mystery. Fun main characters and interesting side characters drive this story and made it hard to put down. Whispers of what ids and might be going on kept me reading to the end to try and figure it all out.

Not sure if i really liked this Alpha King Cade. He was so disrespectful to Zephy and sending away his lover so out of sight out of mind, not addressing feelings and emotions. The storyline wasnt very thrilling and the characters were boring accept I did like Zephys initial sacasam. A lot of sex and not a lot of anything else.
