wonjin takes one look at lara and he knew she was the one for him 😍💅🏼but he looks like a minotaur and he thinks there's no way she'll like him 😕❌ later he captures the deadliest bird in the forest for her 💪🏼🦅 but he's heartbroken again because she said it's just a bird 😔

it's a fastttt burn since it's only 6 chapters 😌 it can be read as a standalone but reading i married a minotaur and maybe i married a birdman will make this more understandable. since i knew the couple from other book's epilogue i just enjoyed their cute moments together 🤍

I was excited at first, even knowing this was going to be shorter. Had I known just how short I'd have probably skipped it. These few pages don't do Wonjin and Lara justice. At all. He was so complex, even as a background character. In this even his inner monologues are bland. He lost everything that made him him in the previous book. And Lara remains undefined. She is a background character with pushy parents that just happens to exist to complete Wonjin. It lacks substance, heart and fulfillment. And the time skips are frustrating. Those could have been our bonding moments, where we learn more about the characters. Where Lara could have become her own person. We could have seen her asking Wonjin's mom for advice, or just her work with the Yurus in general. Bonding with the people she's going to be living with and making friends. But no. Has I known I really would have just not read this. This is not Abel's best, not anything like their usual writing. And romance without heart just isn't romance.

This novella is supposed to be read after I Married a Minotaur . It is the story of Wonjin, who was a side character (and somewhat antagonist for a bit) in the book mentioned. The plot mainly revolves around how he fell in love with Lara, another side character, and how he was able to woo her and make her his.

Gosh! I knew Wonjin would be such an endearing main character. I truly have a weakness for heroes who absolutely melt for the heroine. His attempts at wooing her, although clumsy, were adorable. I loved the fact his ears would start flapping when he was being self-conscious, embarrassed or shy in her presence. He is very brilliant, which we learned in I Married A Minotaur. It was nice to learn about him in greater details.

I stood transfixed, my lips parting to utter a greeting, but not a single word came out. Panic swelled within me as I gaped at her like an idiot. To add to my mortification, my wretched ears started flapping like the wings of a bird washing in a pond. The blasted things always did that whenever I felt embarrassed. It was a common trait with Yurus, but mine would just go on flapping endlessly.-Wonjin

As for Lara, I think I was expecting a bit more but she was likable overall. I didn't really care for the bits with her family. She was a bit oblivious to Wonjin's feelings because he wasn't being all that clear with what he was trying to do, and Lara naturally didn't recognize when people were interested in her. I kinda liked that because it made Wonjin pursue her stronger and for longer than what romance tend to do, especially in novellas. To me, the chase is always the most interesting part. She was a little bit nerdy and loved technology.

Now, I didn't give the best rating because I do have some things I was disappointed about. First of all, there wasn't much smut. The main scene was a bit short and not exactly what I was expecting...BUT, they were still cute together. Second of all, I kinda wish Kayog had been present in some type of way. I always enjoy it when he's there because as an empath, he can sense what people are feeling and it usually creates cute moments. His wisdom is also always welcomed. And lastly, I think the epilogue disappointed me the most because of how ''human'' it felt. It was a bit too centered on human customs rather than Yurus' customs. The idea of courting was sweet but a bit bland considering there could've been a more interesting approach with Yurus traditions and whatnot.

Overall, it was a very nice novella. I'm so happy the author decided to write it because of popular demand. At this point, I kinda hope for more side characters stories in the future. Her side characters can be just as interesting as her MCs. I also appreciate being able to dive deeper into certain cultures she invented and to see how other characters respond being thrown into the mix.

¡Me entretuvo y los disfruté! Es un libro corto de unas 117 páginas por lo que no me duró nada.

💥 Nos cuentan la historia de Wonjin y Lara. Estos personajes aparecen como secundarios en el quinto libro de la serie. En ese libro sabemos de que se hicieron pareja, se casaron y tuvieron un hijo pero nada más.

💥 En este nos relatan con más detalle toda su relación y me ha encantado. Siempre quise saber más sobre ellos.

💥 Por supuesto, amé a Wonjin. Demasiado lindo y respetuoso con Lara. Y esto es algo que me gusta mucho de esta serie: el romance sano, bonito y tierno que hay con cada una de las parejas de todos los libros, el respeto entre ambos, la importancia del consentimiento y la comunicación en una relación.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Wonjin is a Minotaur, formally with a disability that’s now been cured. The second he meets Lara, he knows she’s his future mate and begins pursuing her.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: No fluff. No overdrawn plot. This little novella gave me exactly what I needed. Wonjin was adorable and sweet. Lara was smart and independent. I loved that they dated more conventionally and ended up in love. Overall just another 👌 story in this series.

📝 𝗔 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲… This book runs alongside I Married a Minotaur, which was also an excellent read.

Rating: Perfect for a shorter romance read / 5

Although not an exploration of a new species for the Prime Mating Agency--or, for that matter, even involving the PMA--I think that this is a cute story that deserves to be told.

From I Married a Minotaur, Wonjin is the Yurus who was always bullied because of his "disability", and therefore captured all of our hearts in the story while we were following along with Rhianna and Zatruk's romance. And while we didn't precisely ask for a story for this character, I certainly can't see anyone being disappointed that Regine Abel saw fit to give us one!

It's short and sweet, only six chapters long, but feels evenly paced, engaging, and gives both Wonjin and his love interest, Lara, enough going for them that we can turn into mushy, gushy pools of happiness once the two get together.

What can I say except that it's a great addition to the series, and I certainly look forward to seeing more from this author and the PMA in general! Keep it coming and keep it original!

These monstrous aliens are super sweet

Another great alien monster relationship with a human. This novels shows how Wonjin got his own hea, and I'm so pleased Regime Abel wrote it cos I needed to know he would be ok after all he endured in his life before the previous book.
As with the other books there isn't any angst or real relationship struggle, just a sweet and devoted male alien and a human. Size difference is REAL, but they make it work. Very cute.

Highlights:
I loved Wonjin in the 'I married a minotaur' book so I ran to KU to read this as soon as it was published! Wonjin falls in love at first sight while Lara is more in love with the science of it all and oblivious to his feelings.
There were some sweet moments between them that I liked and I enjoyed a new type of dynamic in this series.

Lowlights:
I didn't like how Lara was made to feel guilty at the beginning for not understanding Wonjin when he was not being direct with his feelings in a way she would understand. This book being a novella really took the wind out of the romances sails. Instead of the growth of romance we usually get through communication and understanding, I feel like this story is a bit hollow in comparison. There is a lot of telling and not showing through time-skips and exposition. I feel like there needed to be more depth to the relationship whether through conflict or through more/better characterization of Lara.

Lara and Wonjin are up and I'm ready for them! As an aside, while they weren't matched by the PMA, they are DEFINITELY a solid couple. They had a few differences to get past (mostly because Lara's village had been raided on more than one occasion by the Yurus and Lara had to learn to look at what they were doing now instead of what came before) and a few social cues that went over Lara's head, but those weren't insurmountable.

That said, one of the things Lara had to wrap her head around first was that Wonjin might enjoy fighting (as most of the Yurus men do), but that's not the be-all and end-all of him as a person. He's smart. Really smart. He's also completely tongue-tied around Lara at first, so it takes a third party intervention before Lara begins to see him as a potential romantic partner.

But once she does...well, all bets are off. Wonjin gets his woo on and soon the two see just how compatible they are. Well, actually, the physical part doesn't happen right away because Wonjin is diabolical like that. He wants Lara to want him the way he wants her and he's willing to wait until they reach that point.

A smitten male, a lady who needs a little nudging, collaboration, courting gifts, a fight or two, and a whole lot of consent. All the things I'm here for.

So I reread it and honestly while I absolutely love the side characters and think there is a rich abundance of characters to pull from. I feel this really was an insult to her characters and the readers and the second time around did not do it any further justice

So I really enjoy this series but I also think a lot of issues were short changed and the other human characters were a bit much in behavior towards the FMC.

I also skimmed through the last 20% of the book simply because I just couldn’t bring myself to care. By the time 80% rolls around we are finally getting our first spicy scene and it took so long I stopped caring and skipped right over it.

I honestly can say this is one story that we didn’t need the way it was presented

Non riprendevo questa serie da fin troppo tempo e quindi chiedo venia, perché l’universo creato dalla Abel mi mancava.
E sto giro le battute sui manzi, bistecche, redbull e via dicendo si sprecano dato il soggetto protagonista! La cosa tragica è che ho voglia di hamburger da giorni… Non pensarci, Ale, non pensarci…
Anyway, questa è la prima novella della serie. Che giustamente si becca quel povero nerd di Wonjin, ma noi gli vogliamo bene lo stesso. Perché sì, meritava molte più pagine, ma alla fine si è rivelata lo stesso una lettura soddisfacente.
In più, rullo ti tamburi, questa è la prima coppia a non essere sorteggiata dalla Agenzia Primaria. Wonjin ha fatto tutto da solo, anche se me lo immagino Kayog fargli l’occhiolino da lontano.
Comunque, come tutti i romanzi della serie, vi sono importanti messaggi veicolati dai tori da monta con extra spicy e questo si concentrerà sulla diversità.
La razza di Wonjin, come ben sappiamo, era l’incubo dei coloni, tanto che tra una razzia e l’altra ai bambini veniva insegnato ad aver paura di loro. Questa linea di pensiero persiste nonostante sia arrivata la pace e Lara, l’umana che catturerà il cuore di Wonjin, continua a essere soggetta a questa mentalità a livello subconscio.
Certo, non è colpa di nessuno dei due, ma quando un manzo da monta che pesa il triplo di te sembra perennemente scocciato e col muso, non lascia molti spiragli di conversazione. Soprattutto se anche tu non sai come rapportarti con l’altro sesso.
Morale della favola: quei due hanno avuto bisogno di diverse spintarelle per aprirsi e iniziare a frequentarsi.
Questo vuole essere un inno all’apertura mentale e all’accettazione delle diversità, che di per sé è cosa buona e giusta.
Ma tanto sappiamo cosa rende davvero felici le protagoniste di questa serie…
E qui chiudo perché vado a cercare cibo. Magari riesco davvero a reperire un hamburger, chissà.

Honestamente estaba esperando para leer la historia de estos dos y me sorprendió totalmente para bien, Wonjin se me hizo SUPER TIERNO y de verdad que queria un libro del que consideraban el más “tonto” del grupo porque mi hombre demostró ser muy inteligente y tener más intereses que un conflicto bélico y aunque no pudimos conocer mucho de la personalidad De Lara me dio mucha ternura todo el proceso de conquista y como el reaccionó la primera vez 😩😩✨✨✨ TODOS ESTOS HOMBRES SON LA EXPECTATIVA, y este libro me ha dejado el corazón calentito y me hizo subir mis expectativas en los inservibles de los hombres reales.

This was really short and sweet. I kinda wish we got some newer stuff and not the same timeline covered in I Married A Minotaur, but I'm happy we got to see more of my beloved Wonjin and learn more about Lara.

I also wish we got to see a bit more of Lara falling for Wonjin but instead, one page she doesn't have a clue or pay attention to Wonjin, the next, it's 2 weeks later and she's very interested. There was buildup there, we just didn't get to see it, which was a bummer. Otherwise, very cute, sweet, and a hint of spice.

Pensavo che questa fosse una novella (è certamente breve) e non mi desse niente di nuovo.
Invece è stata proprio una lettura carina.
Abbiamo conosciuto Wonjin nel volume precedente con protagonista il capo degli Yurus, Zatruk, e abbiamo visto il primo incontro tra Wonjin e Lara, un'ingegnere umana, che si reca insieme agli zelconiani dagli Yurus per progettare nuovi speeder.
Wonjin fa la figura del pesce lesso e resta a bocca aperta davanti a questa donna che capisce essere destinata ad essere la sua compagna. Lara non se lo fila di striscio.
Wonjin inizierà a corteggiarla ma ci vorrà una spintarella da parte di Rihanna per far capire a Lara l'interesse dello Yurus.
Qui sta la differenza con i libri della serie: non c'è nessun matrimonio combinato da parte dell'agenzia primaria, nessuna guerra, ricatto o pericolo vario.
Una storia normalissima ma che lancia sempre un bel messaggio: bisogna superare la prima impressione, aprire la mente e cercare la felicità dove non si pensa proprio che possa esserci.
Carinissime le orecchie di Wonjin che frullano sempre a più non posso!

Casada con Wonjin fue… raro, pero en el buen sentido. Tiene ese toque extraño que caracteriza a esta autora, donde de repente estás leyendo algo que jamás pensaste que verías en tu vida y aun así seguís pasando páginas como si nada.

La historia en sí estuvo bien: entretenida, rápida y con momentos tiernos. Wonjin es un protagonista distinto, más reservado y extraño, pero eso mismo lo hace interesante. La dinámica con la protagonista funciona, aunque por momentos sentí que la relación avanzaba demasiado rápido o se quedaba corta en desarrollo emocional.

No es de los mejores de la saga, pero tampoco el peor. Es un libro raro, simpático y bastante adictivo, perfecto para cuando queres algo distinto sin pensar demasiado. Tres estrellas bien puestas.

Wonjin y Lara
Wonjin es un Yuru al cual su pueblo lo trataba de tonto ya que su madre le dio de pequeño una hierva que su pueblo usa para bajar su instinto de pelea, lo que el al ser expuesto a ello tan pequeño hizo que tuviera un defecto en las costillas.
Ahora ya lograron curarlo y con los nuevos planes para los Yurus, Lara llega a ayudar..... muy cute.
