This book is the second read in " The Family Crackhead " series and it tells how the protagonist was doing so well in his life and was having almost everything an individual desires to have but yet the addiction, introduction to a drug named Cocaine turned his world upside down.. Raheem was someone who was quite afraid to fight & easily got bullied by people, his father Melvin told him that the people who won in life were the ones that weren’t afraid to fight. Eric was bragging to Raheem about how he was a millionaire and making his own money. Everything sounded too fake to Raheem as he knew Eric had been a frail, little white boy in school, and over the top things made him feel like the man. He had a nice house and had all the things you would dream as of a kid in a house..He sold penny stocks and promised people a dream. Seasoned investors could see through it. The amateur investor saw it as the proverbial pie in the sky. These white boys were clearly selling shit and trying to call it sugar. The difference between Raheem and the average white boy was that he actually could make them believe it was sugar. People often get trapped into bad thing really soon, the same happened with Raheem, now all he focus on was to do something big and make history. His life would never be the same anymore from that day. It was like he was an addict, and pussy and money were his addiction. Later, he seemed to be interested in a girl named Shanice, a pediatrician. Raheem sold to Shanice’s father that he was the kind of man who needed to marry her and would make all her dreams come true. What do you think what will the protagonist do when he actually starts losing everything that he had in his life ?? There are a lot of supporting characters like Eric, Donald, Bryan, etc which typically adds flavours to the story and makes it quite interesting for the readers to read. This is the best book that I've read till now. It kept me turning the pages. I really couldn't resist it's call until the end. Highly recommended. Overall, can't wait to read more books by the author.
Although the title is The Family Crackhead, this book was more about love than anything. It was about self, real love, love of family, friends, and one's community. I was happy to read about how Roger recovered from his crack addiction. Especially since he was so far into it. Initially, it read as if it the story would be about Raheem and how stuck he was to the hustle but once he'd redeemed his life and pulled his brother out of the gutter with him, the story tied together nicely. There were some spelling and grammatical errors, but overall, this was a great read.
I loved this. Redemption story. Both brothers reached rock.bottom and made their way back to the top it was a very inspiring story that showcased black low at its finest five stars all the way
Hitting rock bottom and coming out a better person on the other side. It takes work, dedication and the ability to forgive. Anyone who wants to can achieve this goal.
It just keeps on getting better. This author is so realistic with so my life learning humbling gems. I'm heading to part 3. I have really enjoyed part 1&2.
It’s crazy how quickly the fast life greed, and addiction can tear you down. I’m glad that everyone in this story found their happy place in the midst of it all.
This book was ssoo boring. It should of had more life about it. It was so slow to start moving. Jumped around the characters i found myself saying who,,,
