Arlene James has written romance for four decades, and has published 100+ novels. A mother of sons and now a happy grandmother to the brightest, most talented, and lovely of all granddaughters, she is finding her sixth decade to be great fun.

She and her very supportive husband of 45 years (whom she agreed to marry on their first date!) enjoy a busy social life and have visited much of the world. After calling Texas home for three decades, they now live in beautiful NW Arkansas.

Arlene grew up on a ranch in south central Oklahoma and still maintains strong ties in that area. She firmly believes that writing has afforded her the best of all possible means of earning a living, and credits a junior high school English teacher with proving to her that her dream of being an author was entirely achievable.

After 4 decades of deadlines and multiple-book contracts (for which she is deeply grateful), she is enjoying the ability to write exactly what she feels led to write on her own schedule.

Logan is a confirmed bachelor and his Executive Assistant Emily has been covering for him for two years now. Suddenly Logan finds out that he has a 16 month old daughter named Amanda Sue. Her mother Donna has been killed in an accident and now he is her guardian. He takes her to the ranch and tries to get his Mom to look after her but his Mom tells him now.

Now he has Emily helping him with Amanda and they are searching for a Nanny. A really good story that will keep you interested.

Quinto volume da série Fortunes of Texas.

História bonitinha em que Logan descobre que é pai e tem que rearranjar sua vida. Emily termina sendo uma boa inserção, ainda que um tanto forçada em certos momentos.

Recomendo.

Logan's love story is similar to Cam (older brother) Fortune's romance story (book one in the Fortunes of Texas series). Logan and Emily is hinted in the first book when Lucy or Cam notice Emily's interest in Logan, but with all the craziness that is going on with kidnappings and divorce, their story has to wait until book 5 in the series to get developed.
Logan finds out that he is a father to a 16 month old daughter suddenly. He has no idea what to do or how to be a parent. I love the car-seat episode because it really shows how little he knows about children and their care. Emily is Logan's executive assistant and she has taken care of his professional and personal life for two years (including the disposal of many short love affairs). She is not stupid so she avoids a romantic relationship with Logan to preserve her sanity and self respect. This is a common love story scenario, nothing really special about this story but the evolution of Logan as a single business man to a father and husband, is a cute and sweet ride.
Nothing is mentioned about kidnapped Bryan or Marie's possession of the child in this story, but there are hints to someone who has read the whole series.

Loved the story line but a bit disappointed in the execution. Emily's knowledge about everything baby was too pact ...almost as if she was a walking encyclopedia on baby care. Too, Logan's progression to ever lasting love with Emily was a bit unbelievable and the love scenes? Too amateurish for someone who James attempts to build into this great lothario. Some development needed on the main characters - Emily and Logan's occupation I felt to be elusive at best - the jump to the new power job - unbelievable...Logan's behavior at the bank meet - unbelievable. Bit amused that Emily's horshish features at the beginning of the book transforms into this raving beauty at the end. Book was a bit too long - the good people were unbelievably good while the bad ones were horrific - Carol seemed in strong competition with the late Mother T. While I understand fiction is a form of escapism...it must be in touch with reality. Good story, weak execution.

i'm not really into this kind of book, but it was ok. logan finds out that he has a daughter when the baby's mother dies. logan isn't ready for the job of daddy, so he asks his assistant, emily, for help. emily ends up helping him more ways than one. logan and emily have always work well in a professional setting, so it's no surprise when they work well on a personal level. maybe they worked a little to good this time.

Good, but I'm not sure how I like that this man finds out he has a daughter only after the mother dies. Also, the 16th month old's vocabulary seems quite advanced for her age.
