Arlene James has written romance for four decades, and has published 100+ novels. A mother of sons and now a happy grandmother to the brightest, most talented, and lovely of all granddaughters, she is finding her sixth decade to be great fun.
She and her very supportive husband of 45 years (whom she agreed to marry on their first date!) enjoy a busy social life and have visited much of the world. After calling Texas home for three decades, they now live in beautiful NW Arkansas.
Arlene grew up on a ranch in south central Oklahoma and still maintains strong ties in that area. She firmly believes that writing has afforded her the best of all possible means of earning a living, and credits a junior high school English teacher with proving to her that her dream of being an author was entirely achievable.
After 4 decades of deadlines and multiple-book contracts (for which she is deeply grateful), she is enjoying the ability to write exactly what she feels led to write on her own schedule.
THE BEST 'Love, Inspired' novel I have read yet - and I'd bought hundreds of them to read thru the winter.
The cover is utterly misleading. Neither of them look anything like the front of this book. And there's a weird timeless air to the book, like we can't tell what decade it actually takes place. But the 'what's going on' factor really drives the book, and Arlene's writing is *PHENOMENAL* in this one. The characters are beautiful, the supporting characters amazing, and the F.A.I.T.H. in this story...! It's just perfect, the way we're brought through love, grief, hope, and more.
This book is DEFINITELY worth reading. And yes, it tugs at heartstrings, but with the best of reasons and the best of results.
Piper has run from her life. She experienced a tragedy so devastating, she can't face her family, her co-workers, herself, or her God. But God has a plan for Piper, and sends just the right person at just the right time to help her to find her way back to the Lord and His mercies. And that journey is INCREDIBLE and fantastic.
I can't say enough good about this one. Which is amazing, because the last FOUR 'Love Inspired's that I've read were one stars. I was beginning to lose faith in the publisher. But this one? Makes it worth them. HIGHLY recommend it!
So sweet and poignant. The authors description of Mitch doesn’t match the cover model at all. Mitch understands grief all too well and his meeting Piper is absolutely God ordained. Love Mitch’s parents and Pipers neighbors. Mitch was perfect, in fact too perfect to be realistic. An attorney that goes above and beyond for each and every client, a grief counselor, and perfect son.
This cover has a very 70s Love story look about it lol Didnt really like this one I guess because of all pipers problems from her past she just was not very likable. wont read it again and dont really recommend it
Mitch Sayer and Piper Wynne meet on a plane and he later finds a crumpled letter on the plane's floor which affects him to the degree that he feels he must find out who wrote it. He later discovers that he and Piper share the same city and work near each other, so this leads to a few dates for them both. Piper is running from her past and a mistake she can't forgive herself for, and Mitch's growing attraction to her causes her to feel threatened.
I liked Mitch as a character, but Piper behaved, for the most part, like an idiot. There's feeling guilty for what you did, and then there's 'I don't deserve to live' level drama. Piper's behavior is grossly unrealistic and downright silly at times. There are some decent supporting characters, including a married couple who befriend Piper. However, Piper's family includes kids named "Thai" and "Asia" (really?). It's not a truly bad book, but it's a mediocre romance at best.
