Well, this was okay, I guess? A lot had happened, and it was kind of overwhelming in a sense.

In the first part of the story, Angelo still thought Sabella had betrayed him, and he wouldn't have believed her if it weren't for the drones he planted to spy on her. Sabella was being punished for something she hadn't even done for the entire two and a half books of this series. It was difficult to accept that fact, and I'm furious with Angelo for giving her such a rough time.

Then, his retaliation against everyone who had betrayed him was underwhelming because it was primarily told rather than shown. I don't know; I need to witness the violence and torture these guys endure on page; they should die a long, painful death.

My heart was broken by what happened with Sabella. After all, Angelo had already treated her horribly on a few occasions, so it was just awful for that dreadful scene to happen too. Can't a girl have a freaking break??? I would've wanted for her to seek professional help after what she went through, but it was never brought up.

Then, I think, beginning at 68%, the main focus became on Angelo's attempts to make up for all of his errors and convince Sabella that, despite his lack of being worthy of her, he would stop at nothing to convince her that her decision to choose him was not a mistake. This would probably be considered groveling, but the chapters after that mark only covered 2-3 months or so. And, idk, how to feel about that.

I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that the majority of this series was all about his anger and vengeance toward her and her family, only for him to be forgiven within a few chapters. Maybe Sabella's just a better person than me. 🤷‍♀️

Even though I'm happy to have finished the series, I felt that four books was a bit much; this could have easily been a trilogy. In any case, I did, for the most part, enjoy most of the books, and honestly, it was a wild ride.

I must admit that I found myself disappointed with this series.
My expectations were high because my friends loved it, but it fell short.
It wasn't entirely bad—after all, I managed to complete four books—but the overall experience didn't quite warrant a four-star rating as an entire series.

Whoa!!! This took a dark, dramatic and gut wrenching turn! Holy heck, I wasn’t sure if I was going to survive it.

Sabella shows what she’s really made of even as she is forced down a road she never saw coming. I was barely breathing through it all and my heart ached for her in every way. Angelo learns some hard truths that shine a light so bright on his own actions that I thought he might shatter. And then the story unraveled into a darkness so black that I was clutching my kindle with both hands and could not look away.

May be a black-and-white image of bedroom

This is not a stand alone and it comes with strong warnings for sensitive readers. I’ve loved every book in this series, but Kisses Like Rain made them all look like bubble gum candy.

Sabella and Angelo’s story has been so heartbreaking until now,and i couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened so far.
Fearing what still might lay ahead,i equally dreaded and needed Kisses Like Rain.
But when the ARC dropped into my inbox,i knew one thing for sure….nothing was going to stop me from finding out if they got the HEA they deserved.
Even though yes,it could get worse…..
Even though it hurt even more…..
Even though there were times i started to think the universe was working against a HEA for this tormented couple…..
There was só much going on in this final book, good ánd bad, that my mind was spinning.

Every small step forward was hard earned, and still not enough.
Both struggled with the feelings they had for eachother.
Add in the children under Angelo’s care, with a very painful past of their own,and how to care for them, and the situation becomes that more difficult.
Keeping them from Sabella hurts them, but his trust in her is still nihil….even though he finally admits his feelings for her…..to himself.
She puts family and loved ones before everything else, but he doesn’t see that yet. Including her feelings for him…..in spite of everything.
Until he’s forced to acknowledge the truth.
But it might be too late…..with disastrous consequences.

Can Angelo save Sabella and the children?
And can he save his marriage to the only woman he’s ever loved?
Will she ever be able to forgive him for what happened to her because of him?
And what about the children….will they be ok after all they’ve been through?

Kisses Like Rain was everything i’d thought it would be and more.
I laughed,i cried,i cursed,i yelled, and wanted to hit certain people at certain times, but in the end i was very happy with where Sabella,Angelo and the children are now.

I'm not sure what to rate this.
I think it helps that by half way through book 4, book 4!! he FINALLY believes the heroine won't betray him, but only because he hears the conversation when the heroine is offered a deal. Its not because he comes to trust her or takes a leap of faith trusting her.
He is absolutely faithful and never so much as entertains the idea of flirting or cheating.

So the last half of the boom is spent with him trying to redeem himself and convince the heroine he's all in.
She has decided she loves him anyway but does demand changes.

I did feel when you read a trilogy it can feel dragged out a bit at times but I feel for me 4 books was stretching it. Yes you have extra issues with the Hero's family, uncles and the children, the village, her family and the shark fascination but I felt there was a good bit of waffle and repetition that could have made it 3 books. I think the issue was book 1 it took too long.

It's not one I'd reread.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Violent scenes. Rape but no actual detail and miscarriage.

HEA. Pregnancy.

4 STARS!
My tireless and violent pursuit of her is enough to tell anyone how much she means to me.
She's everything.
She's the reason I fight, live, and survive.
Despite its rocky start, I ended up enjoying the series as a whole.

My Review

The conclusion to the series and what a finale this was. My favourite out of all the books so far and this fourth book upped its game in every single way. This has been an angsty toxic minefield that I've completely devoured and navigated with absolute relish. This series has always had a dark and gritty vibe but Kisses Like Rain took all that one step further and this one got dark. My heart was in my absolute throat as this descended into territory I wasn't expecting.

My heart broke for poor Sabella it was just so bloody tragic and completely gutting and i was equally shattered right alongside her and Angelo as things unravelled it was some emotional stuff that had quite the impact on me I was an emotional mess. But then out of all of this pain came some serious healing as Angelo finally woke up and brought his A game. I then adored their journey together towards a much anticipated HEA and the protective warmer side of Angelo that was buried deep was so worth the wait.

I've enjoyed this series immensely honestly it's been one of my favourites from this author and I recommend reading if this genre is your jam. It's well written totally engrossing and i ran through a whole gauntlet of emotions whilst reading this. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of Kisses Like Rain.

I feel like I've been waiting for this conclusion forever. This saga has made a permanent fan out of me for this author. My heart & soul felt shredded as I followed along this journey, but in the end, it also felt complete. Angelo and Sabella left bruises on each other along the way, but the redemption-filled HEA was perfect. Charmaine Pauls showed true creative genius in how she weaved the plot from beginning to end. This four book long series was worth every angst-filled moment. If I could, I would shout its praises from the highest point available to me. It is trigger heavy, and each book has to be read in order from the beginning. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Charmaine Pauls concludes one of her most intense and heartbreaking stories to an outstanding finish and brings the story full circle with themes of redemption, forgiveness, survival, betrayal, and most importantly—love. There is a fine line between love and hate and Sabella's relationship with Angelo has always captured this to perfection. Sabella and Angelo's intense love and story will forever be etched on my heart, which is truly a testament to the author's ability to create characters and write stories that leave such a lasting impression on her readers. Angelo's obsessive love for his wife has often blinded him to many things and left so much destruction in his path because of it but he is finally able to realize the one person he cannot live without—Sabella. I didn't think he would be able to redeem himself but certain events made them realize that there was more to life than hatred, pride, and revenge. Despite everything that happened, Sabella's love for Angelo never faded. In many ways, she was able to tame her monster and seize her happiness once and for all.

“Because I can’t live without you. Because everything has always been about you. Everything I think, dream, breathe, and feel are you. If you leave me, I’ll have nothing.”

In the end, I loved this series and I can't highly recommend it enough. Even though their story was incredibly devastating and brutal to read at times, especially when you think about how much time Sabella and Angelo had lost because they were too stubborn to realize their love for each other, it was all worth it. Sabella and Angelo have gone through tremendous character growth but there has always been one thing that will never change—his deeply, madly and obsessive love for her. The epilogue brought tears to my eyes and I love that Angelo and Sabella were able to move on from their past together. Two characters that I am keeping my eyes on and hope Charmaine Pauls will write stories for them in the future are Johan and Sophie, Angelo's young and impressionable nephew and niece. I highly recommend this series to anyone who is looking for a heartbreaking and powerful love story between a tortured and broken anti-hero who desperately loves his resilient and formidable heroine.

Kisses Like Rain by Charmaine Pauls is book 4 in the Corsican Crime Lord Series. This continues the story of Angelo Russo and Sabella Edwards. There story started in the first book 'Love Like Poison' then continued on into the next books: 'Hate Like Honey' and then 'Tears Like Acid'. So, this won't be a standalone book. This has been such an emotional read that just kept me wanting to know what happens next. This book is the conclusion to this series. Loved it!

5* Turbulent Stars

What an angst fest epic conclusion to Angelo and Sabella’s rollercoaster of a relationship.

I was apprehensive to begin the final book in the Corsican Crime Lord Series because I did not know how much more my heart could take.

Throughout their story you could feel the hurt and betrayal bestowed upon them as well as a love so strong it nearly destroyed them. I honestly, at one stage, thought there was no possibility for a HEA for them but in true Charmaine Paul style that HEA was hard earned and eventuated.

I really enjoyed the dual POV’s throughout their story as you got their inner thoughts and reasons for their behavior and actions.

I adored this series and the emotional journey it took me on.

My Review: The last installment of this 4-part series finally brings Angelo and Sabella’s romance full circle. They endured a journey of heartbreak, pain, secrets and betrayal; but also unexpectedly found a family together and created a life full of love and devotion. Sabella definitely had a rough road and I admired her resilience and never-ending strength to face whatever was thrown at her. Angelo was not always my favorite person, but he learned from his mistakes and earned a place in my heart. Overall a great series that I enjoyed very much.

The Corsican Crime Lord series has been an amazing story, full of twists and turns, death and life, betrayal and love.

In this final installment, we see Angelo and Sabella’s relationship come to a crossroad - do they love and trust each other? Or will the hurt and mistrust cause their relationship to crumble?

There were both extremely difficult parts and really happy parts in this book; in the end, Angelo and Sabella got their happy ending and I loved reading about it.

Thanks so much to Charmaine Pauls and Literally Yours PR for this ARC and for letting me go on this 4-book journey!

It's the finale and I have to say, it should be just trilogy.

First part, the love hate chemistry was strong, I don't know how they will come back from all the bloodshed, revenge, anger and animosity. One thing that bind them? Passion aka the segs. Even when in angry, both needed that fragile bond.

Love the children. Specially Sophie. I think they become the glue for them.

But then there was trigger.

I'm sure the world, including the author know what happened to Palestine. Simply genocide. So for the author to use the word "genocide " or "massacre" in term of Angelo destroying and basically wiping clear the enemy who has attack and assaulted Bella, felt insensitive for me.
Why not use the word destroy, instead of those more than vile words? It's the most terrible word in the world and it's happening today, so the fact the author use it easily... It shock me to the core.

I've read the author books before, so I move along to read the rest. With full intention to not put my trigger in rating. But after that, the plot going down hill. The lull time was too much. I skipped pages when Angelo tell her his POV from previous book readers already know. Why must the author tell it again so detail, I don't know. To fill out the page? Should stay in trilogy.

But the weird thing is, Bella was segsually assaulted. But in those recovery time, there's not one moment describing her as victim of segsual attack or how she Cope and heal. Why?
Is it not important phase?

Overall, I got my expectations too high on this finale. 3 star

But, my heart couldn't take me being silent. So I ask the author why she wrote those vile words? And to make it short, she said she will consider about changing the words. Which I find ironically funny cause Palestinians have 75 years and the world seems not think about them in any humain capacity.

So, this is will be the last book from the author I would ever read or review. Not even doing any reread of her older books. I regret the first day I ever supported her. Deleting all her books in my library. At this point, I really don't care whatever she says or write anymore. 0 star for ever thinking her books are more important than any human lives.

Kisses Like Rain by Charmaine Pauls is the perfect ending to Angelo and Sabella's angst filled, heartbreaking and explosive journey. Wounds will be opened and healed. Forgiveness and redemption will be earned. The author put me through an emotional hell and this ending is worth every pain. This dark romance consumed me and I couldn't put it down even for a second. Angelo already owned my heart but when his vulnerable underbelly is exposed and his dark broken pieces are unveiled showing the depth and intensity of his obsession for Sabella..he becomes just epic. Sabella has suffered through so much pain but she finally realised her broken heart belongs to Angelo. The line between love and hate is a thin one and I am so happy that they ended up in the right side!

I knew this book is all about Angelo's redemption arc. Through the previous three books, the author has beautifully portrayed the contradiction in his personality. On one hand, he is a ruthless and heartless crime lord. But deep inside his heart, he is so weak for Sabella. He couldn't show it openly or in the right way because the mistrust, manipulations, betrayal and mind games clouded his heart. He wanted to show Sabella how much he wants her but ended up hurting her even more. But now is the time to take down the real enemies and he took his vengeance. His over protective and jealous possessive sides are even crazier in this book. Sabella has matured a lot through the story. She fights for her own happiness. Even in front of Angelo's Wrath, she stands tall and proud and stubborn. No amount of violence and abuse could extinguish her spirit. She is kind and sweet and loving and that's why she finally could see what Angelo was trying to show all these times..in a twisted way. This book is dark with gore and trauma but that was necessary to destroy everything from past so that they can find their happily ever after. The ending was so beautiful. Full of love, light, laughter and family. What an incredible dark romance series from Charmaine Pauls.

Well written but….

I liked the book for the most part. SPOILER: He treats her worse than sh💩t based on nothing. She says she will take care of her own happiness and not depend on he who cannot act like a decent human. But, voila!! She is attacked, assaulted and almost beaten to death and somehow this makes her realize how much she loves and needs him. All is forgiven and we go into the sunset happily ever after. JUST ONCE I’d like to read the book where the alpha-hole gets handed his @ss, is miserable after losing the woman he realized he loved because he treated her like a slave. And she lives happily ever after without him. I think I’ll have to wait for Jay Marie’s 5th book, Stronger, to get that joy. If I live long enough for it to be published that is.
If you like the same ol’ forgiveness romance, this is the book for you. If you like a bit more dark in your fantasy reading, you will come up short. As said, it’s well written but a weak ending to the series. Just my opinion.

We come to the conclusion of Angelo and Sabella's story. The first half of this book was pretty good. There was some twists with Angelo's uncles plotting against him continuing from book three that were finally brought out into the open. And the kidnapping of the children and the attack that almost killed Sabella took the book dark once again for a short time.

However, I felt like the dark parts (kidnapping, beating, loss of a baby) and even some of the good parts left me wanting for a more emotional tug at my heart and more angst and tension from the characters. It felt like a lot of the scenes were quick and clinical and then they were immediately over and we were on to the next thing. I didn't feel the emotions coming from either Sabella or Angelo that I would expect, emotions that should rock their world and mine. Basically I was left still reaching for the chemistry, anticipation, tension and angst that lifts the characters off the page and brings them to life. To sum things up, I feel like the whole series was trying to be dark but was too light, and was trying to be light but was too dark, thus it missed the mark on both for me. I am not sure if that makes sense or conveys what I am trying to get across, and I am not saying that I didn't like the story, I did, alot. I am just saying for once I didn't love the story as much as I hoped I would, considering what the author is capable of based on other books I have read.

I also felt that in the last third of the book the story starting getting boring. Everything was wrapped up and there was an HEA, so I give you that, but the last part of the book was my least favorite part of the whole series.

I am giving this final book 3.75 stars.

I feel like the last half of book two through about a quarter of this book carried the series at about 4 stars. Book one and the last of this book brought the series rating down. It is definitely worth reading, the writing is good, the story had a lot of potential, and there were some really good scenes, but this one will not be going on my read again list.

*Happy sigh* Angelo and Sabella finally get their HEA. And it was one heck of a journey getting there. These last two books had their relationship evolving into directions that I wasn't expecting, and it was EVERYTHING. This book was longer than the others, so we really got to enjoy it more. There were more interactions with the kids, which is something I really wanted after book 3.

If I had anything negative to say, it would only be that I feel like there should have been an extra content/trigger warning. There IS a list at the beginning of each book, but there was something that happened in this one, that is huge, and while I was okay with it, it is something that some people would have liked to know in advance that they may need to avoid.

Wow, what a truly incredible, dark, twisty, hot and emotional journey this couple has taken us on. This is the final piece of Angelo and Sabella's story, so be sure you've read books 1-3 before you start this one. This book honestly had me hanging on every word and by The Goddess did it put my heart and emotions through the wringer. From heartbreaking to heart melting and from swoon worthy to having you screaming at the pages, you are headed into a world of feels that will utterly pummel you and believe me, it hurts so good.

Kisses Like Rain by Charmaine Pauls, is the fourth and final book in the Corsican Crime Lord Series, we pick up the story where we left off and meet again with this couple whose relationship is constantly navigating between love and hate, neither wants to love the other, but that love is there and it's inevitable. It's now when the secrets begin to be revealed that we will meet the true enemies of Sabella and Angelo, and the possibility of forgiveness and the hope that they can love each other and be happy will open, but before reaching that you must hold on because the journey is a very moved one.
I must say that at some moments I doubted that there was hope for Angelo and Sabella, but I loved being completely wrong, the author gives us a perfect closure to a series that from the first book was intense and heartbreaking. Here we can get answers to the questions we had and one of the things I enjoyed the most is that it was done impeccably. In this last book we once again enjoy the elements that we liked so much from the previous ones with a lot of drama, angst action and finally a happy ending! If you have not done so, go read this series now, remember that if you have not read the previous books you should go to the beginning so that you know this wonderful story and fall in love with these characters, just as I did. A story that will stay in my heart for a long time. Highly recommended!

Altamente Recomendada!

This fourth and final book is incredible! It simply blew my mind, and I do not say that lightly. I was starting to despair that these two, Sabella and Angelo, would never find their happy ever after. Let me just say the road is rough, paved with potholes and pitfalls that are fraught with danger and deception. I wasn’t sure my heart could take the emotional roller coaster!

Throughout this series, emotions have played a significant role, but nothing like it does in Kisses Like Rain. I felt so angry with characters’ actions, afraid for other characters, and delighted in the lighter scenes. You truly cannot stand back when reading this story; you participate fully—all in, and I love stories that grab readers like this.

I found Angelo’s reflection on his actions and beliefs refreshing, and he redeemed himself in my eyes—that was a massive task as I wanted to throw him off a cliff after the previous book. 😄
Sabella’s need to survive her relationship with Angelo continues to amaze me; her inner strength is so strong that she is a character I truly admire. Her inherent kindness is what makes her so different from many other people, as well as, a fantastic role model. Ah, I really can’t say enough about this wonderful character.

There is a lot of action and drama throughout the book, all quite nail-biting and heartbreaking. One of the main things that makes this book stand out is that every question is answered, answered in such a manner that not only are they embedded as parts of the story, but they’re very smoothly inserted.

I can’t recommend this series enough, and honestly, this book alone makes it all worthwhile.

I wrote this review for Saucy Reviews on Kinky Korner.

So this author definitely saved the best for last for us. This series has been a roller coaster of emotions for me! Sabella and Angelo’s relationship has had its highs and its rock bottom lows. But this book…this book was the pinnacle and by far the best of the series. I don’t want to give any additional details for the story in this review because they would reveal spoilers. But one thing that I love in a series is to see real character growth and development. Sabella was my least favorite in the beginning of this series, but these last two books she has done a 180 on me. The maturity that she’s had to develop, and the backbone that she’s been forced to grow into has made her a FMC to be reckoned with. I love how she recognizes that anger and bitterness will make her miserable. I love how she acknowledges the wrong doings of her own family, and that she’s willing to accept Angelo’s darkness if it means she can have him. This girl has got an inner strength that is no joke. And the trauma and turmoil she experiences in this book absolutely shredded me! And Angelo…he is something else. I love the inner turmoil and struggle he is fighting against himself with how he’s treating Sabella. I love the insight we get into his emotions. He wants desperately to love her and let her in, but he’s being told he can’t trust her. This man wraps himself up in anger and hate all in an attempt to protect himself emotionally. Once he realizes the truth he may be too late though. But his determination to right his wrongs was so admirable. When this man gives himself freedom and permission to love Sabella it’s a thing of beauty. The journey that these characters take, and the hardships and struggles just make their HEA that much sweeter! Definitely recommend this series!

Kisses Like Rain is the 4Th book in the Corsican Crime Lord.

This book by shows us the will to move forward, to choose what makes us happy, to choose life with all its ugly but also wonderful colors.

Both Angelo and Sabella, on their own, kept their feelings for each other, with longing, sorrows and pains, where the lack of communication made a dent in their hearts and relationship.

After discovering all the lies, betrayals, eliminating those who were part of all their suffering, anger and pain, the only thing left to do is to forgive each other and come together.

How to get to the reconciliation after such devastation? You have a very difficult road to build, but at least, you know that you have each other, you know that despite everything, you chose each other above all things. It is time to leave the past where it belongs and look at life for what it is? A gift... A new chance of reconciliation for their fragile and broken relationship....

But can you move forward with that pain of loss and hurt that tears you inside, the pain that kills and suffocates you, the loss that was meant for hope?

Angelo and Sabella, show us that they are made for each other, that under all the masks they are one, that when they are together they are invincible, that they will do everything they can to make their house their home, that those homeless children are their family, that it is worth suffering for, to reach the precious happiness they yearn for.

After all, for Sabella he is her ocean and for Angelo she is the angel to his monster.

I like the series overall. I was conflicted when I started the fourth one because on one hand I almost didn't care but at the same time I could get into the story and the couple. In this book Sabella has some horrible things happened to her as do most of the heroines in charmaine's books. Thankfully in this one Angelo is there to help pick up the pieces and heal her and get revenge for her, I wish the heroine in her reverse age Gap book had gotten a better deal. I do wish the half sister hadn't gotten off quite so easy, that her situation had taken a little bit longer, I know that's Twisted of me.
There are some prose and realistic handling of inter family relationships. I love the ocean and I love water so I connected with Sabella. The community from the village added depth and feels to the story. Overall I would recommend reading this especially if you like Charmaine Paul's. I'm not sure if I would reread it.
