The Free Fleet has captured two of the largest assets ever created, but those they took them from will not give them up without a fight. Unfortunately, there is only one way to shake the pursuit, and their enemy knows this.
The Free Fleet is about to face their biggest battle yet, and the odds will not be in their favor.
Born in 1960 and raised on an overdose of television, NASA, and science fiction, Ryk Brown has worked as a cook, rock guitarist, stage lighting technician, and paramedic. He currently resides in Northern California with his wife, daughter, and cat. By day he fixes computers, and by night he creates stories. Having spent his entire life "thinking stuff up", the advent of digital publishing has finally given him an excuse to write it all down and share it with others. ("Others" meaning someone other than his poor wife and daughter.) A long-time fan of all things science and space, his goal is to write and publish an on-going series of sci-fi adventures. To be set in his own version of humanity's future, his characters will explore the vast reaches of the galaxy, and perhaps even the universe. He invites you all to join him on this journey through his vivid imagination.
In the episode previous to "A Few Against Many," author Ryk Brown sent the Aurora and the ship belonging to the Ghatazak out to pilfer a couple of Jung battle platforms. The platforms are about 700 years old and apparently derelict before the Korsan crime syndicate found them abandoned. They were in bad shape, and the Korsan could only field a crew just a fraction the size of the original contingent of 10,000 previously required to run the 20-kilometer vessels. But they were built to last, and the Korsan crews cobbled together their systems, patching everything with new technology. Captain Nathan Scott and the rest of his ragtag allies got hold of the battle platforms and jumped them next to a star to mask their jump signatures. Success has its drawbacks. The platforms travel excruciatingly slowly, especially for a team that stays alive by moving quickly and farther than anybody else. The Korsan want the platforms back, and have assembled a fleet capable of tearing up even the two most powerful ships in the universe. Two steps forward, one step back. The conflict doesn't end, and the odds look even worse than before. But it's one heck of a ride.
Overall the series is excellent, however I feel the last couple of books have left a bit to be desired. They fail to carry over the intensity of the previous books, except during the battles and the battles have become overly wordy and long One other complaint is that each book follows the previous one in timeline almost to the minute and if this is the case, just make them one book Overall an ok addition to the series, just hope we can get back to the previous books level quickly
Mr. Brown has hit his stride in the latest chapter of The Frontier Saga. After a slow begining to the third installment he has ramped up the action and adventure in A Few Against Many. I look forward to reading the next chapter and following the story to the end.
I always enjoy reading the next book in the series. It's like getting reacquainted with old friends. And seeing what they've been up to. It's definitely another winner. As always the action moves quickly. Not a dull moment! I can't wait for the next book. I hope they keep coming for a long long time!!
More very exciting adventures for Nathan and the team
I have been reading this saga, book by book, from day one. That has to be the best part of 10 years. It just gets better. Ryk is an excellent story teller, who really gets you into the minds of the characters he has skilfully created. Another action packed adventure, full of twists and turns. A cracking read
As always Ryk Brown stunned me again as Nathan and crew and comrades take you on a roller coaster ride of pure sci fi fun. All the best elements of of good science based adventure combine with a developed cast of characters and a rich strong story to keep you reading way past your bed time.
The Korsen are very angry and have declared war on the free fleet. Trying to gain information about the free fleet, they stage constant assaults on protected worlds. In addition to defense, the fleet is still trying to upgrade themselves and the captured battle stations. It's everyone on deck as they prepare for another impossible battle.
Went sharply right in a couple of places and got lectured on The One Truth ... This really wasn't the escape I was looking for the week Hamaas and Israel both decided they are in possession of The One Truth...
Still VERY. exciting and detailed, but I've binged too much .. time to get off the ride....
Do You Believe in Clones?🏋🏋 Being a clone🏋🏋 means you never have to really die💀. Military🐺🗡🔫💪 and Mercenary Sci-fi .🚀💫 Nearly constant space battles run throughout this action packed, high octane space🚀💫 opera. All the while, its touch and go as to if the good guys will win. This is book 8 in this series of ten books. I got this e-book from Amazon with Kindle Unlimited
Ryk is an incredible author who writes a series where despite dozens of books they all feel like a fresh non-repeating addition to the overall story while telling their own tale, great work!
So much going on and so many attacking the Free Fleet! The action probably did stop for a few minutes it's just that there is so much going on at the end its hard to remember. Another great book in this series.
Not really fair. I have to wait for another installment again. I envy anyone that has not read this series the fact that they can read so many episodes without waiting....lol.... If that's not a ringing endorsement, don't know what is!!!
This was a little nerve racking because of the odds but it came out well Ready for the next one which should be a different as this was the end of Fringe Worlds.
That after so many episodes that this series would start to water down some. However, Ryk continues to keep the action immersive and the characters engaging. Another phenomenal read! And another reason this is my favorite sci-fi series.
Love this series!!!!! Whenever I get the email of a new episode it makes my day and finding the time to read is sometimes the highlight of said day......can't wait for next episode. Woooo tug!!!!
There's always a new twist. A wrinkle that adds to the legend. I have to keep reading to see where they are going next. My only critique is that Nathan and Jessica must have more of a relationship. It's past time.
I have read every book in this series and they are all very good. Usually, a series gets boring, but not this one. The characters are fun and likable. The stories link well and have plenty of twists. Highly recommend this series to all readers!
After so many books in the series, a quality level of writing is expected and delivered. I love the plot, the characters and the philosophy behind the book. Thank you Ryk for giving me 3 books a year to look forward to reading.
Very good story. Mr Ryk Brown outdid himself. I got a kick out of the name of one of the ships. The Anastianus. Looking for the next one. To anyone reading this do not read this unless you have read all 37 of the series.
Full of lots of action remember it’s science fiction, cloning fabricators ai interstellar communication and unlimited distance to get around in the galaxy, no where is safe if you have an enemy like that.
I cannot reiterate how great this series is. It's one of the early ones I read when I first started reading Kindle stories and I have never been disappointed.
