Braving Creativity: Artists Who Turn the Scary, Thrilling, Messy Path of Change into Courageous Transformation

Rate this book
Naomi Vladeck coaches from a central belief that the time we spend in transition after a big life change holds the power to turn our fear of the unknown into the courage to create the life and work we love.

When big change blows up your life, do you have the courage to create from the empty space around you? Is change the catalyst that will challenge you to take the risks you’ve been longing to take? Can you grow bigger than the fear that is blocking your path forward?

In her work as a life coach for artists and creatives, Naomi has helped women answer these questions. She has found that the tools artists use to confront an empty space, blank page or canvas, are the very same as those they use to summon the courage to begin again when big-life change changes everything. Through her work, Naomi inspires artists and creatives to find their courage to create from crisis, grief, opportunity and from the whisper in their hearts that knows what they long to make of their lives.

Now, in her debut book, Naomi teaches you her Five Pillars of Braving Creativity to help you examine your relationship to change. Each pillar is part of the process of transition that is illuminated in real life transition stories, including her own, that offer insights, prompts, and touchstones to help you brave creativity after a big life change.

Naomi Vladek allows us into her life and shares the most vulnerable parts of herself. With her own emotional growth as our background, Vladek masterfully tells the stories of women who have had their own struggles and challenges in relation to their creative lives. They include dancers/choreographers, singers, etc. You will find pieces of yourself in each of these thoughtful and compelling women’s lives. At the end of each section, Vladek adds questions for the reader to consider. A must read book for creatives especially those who may be questioning themselves.

Truly inspiring

I've personally been navigating a really uncomfortable transition within my friend group and love how I was able to relate each of the artists stories to my own. We all experience changes in our life and this highlights how important it is for you to breathe through the resistance and center yourself. The questions provided forced me to self reflect and now I do feel a sense of release that better things (and people) are on the horizon.
