Rate this book
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Donna Grant returns for a Dragon King holiday novella.

The holiday season is Rhi’s favorite time of year, which means Con loves it, too. Except they’re on Zora, where there are no traditions—and beginning one could be hazardous. Finding the lost dragons should’ve given everyone peace. Instead, they’re facing powerful enemies at every turn. Despite the danger, the King of Dragon Kings knows his mate longs to have their space dripping with holiday decorations and gifts piled under the tree, and he’s going to do his best to give it to her and make sure they have time to celebrate the season and their love.

And perhaps a surprise or two.

Rhi and Con prove time and again that a love like theirs never fades and only grows and becomes so much more. As winter grows closer on the Dragon Realm, Rhi grows restless. The way the dragons look at them has been weighing her down and the need to do what she loves the most, decorate for Christmas, and seems impossible where they are. Con would do anything for his Rhi, and taking her away where they can be alone and simply be together, may just take them in a direction they had not even contemplated. Sweet, holiday novella with a specialty little surprise I loved the heck out of!

Series: Dragon Kings #6.5
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

This was a short holiday novella featuring Con and Rhi having a little vacation away from the situation on Zora. This was a sweet scene filled with a lot of love and holiday cheer. It shows the importance of spending time with loved ones, especially when times are hard, and supporting them in what they love, in this case, Rhi’s love for Christmas. We really can see how strong Con and Rhi’s love has grown, and will continue to grow in the future.

Our favorite couple returns for a quick and sweetly romantic holiday novella in Donna Grant’s outstanding Dragon King’s series. For longtime fans, this is a small gift from one of our favorite authors and a chance to reconnect with our beloved Rhi and Constantine as they take a romantic holiday getaway and a much needed reset on their relationship. We all know that sometimes the rigors of life and the stress of just living such a demanding can put stressors on a relationship and taking the time to remind ourselves of the love and devotion of our partnership is crucial to a happy relationship. This year so much has been going on for Rhi and Con, ever since they learned of their adult twins’ existence, the continuation of the dragons, and the trouble on their home world of Zora, but their love continues to shine. This year Con wants to give his mate something she really needs, a break to celebrate the beauty of the winter season and a chance for them to just breathe and be together. A trip away from all their worries, to just be together is just what they both need and the beauty of recommitting their love couldn’t be more perfect for Rhi. Rhi knows that Con has never stopped loving her, but the strength of his worries has been weighing on her as well, so the chance to just enjoy her mate and relax is the most beautiful gift he could give her this year, but she has an even more beautiful gift for him, one that will give them both the greatest job they could ever experience together, one they were robbed of before and will cherish forever. I loved every moment of this sweet, sexy, and loving holiday filled story. Rhi and Con are always so beauftil together that is could bring you to tears. There love is truly epic, but the moment when they are just quiet together you could forget that they are millennia old beings filled with magic and see them truly as just lovers indulging in time together to be one. I love how Donna Grant reminds us that no matter how powerful a being is, the strongest power in the universe will always be love and nothing beats it. Can’t wait for the next story in the series and to see more of Rhi and Con and their beautiful family.

I really enjoy Grant's Holiday slice of life novellas. She always features a couple (or couples) that are fan favorites, and gives a glimpse into what's going on at that moment. This novella features Con and Rhi.

As the King of Dragon Kings, Con is always alert to what his dragons need and to what is going on around him. He never really gets any downtime... especially since they're spending so much time on Zora. And his mate Rhi is right there beside him, though she has her own different concerns. When Con realizes how stressed they both are, he takes Rhi away to their very own snowy paradise somewhere in the Fae world. There, they are able to relax and reconnect. And just share in their love for each other.

Sigh! I adored this novella so much. Con and Rhi have been through so much (yes, a lot of it was of Con's doing but still). It's good to see them happy and together. And the surprise at the end?! OMGOODNESS! I actually teared up a little thinking of the possibilities.
Love these characters so hard! They've become like family. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Many thanks to the author and Bookfunnel for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

So, it's Christmas time once again. Con and Rhi are still on Zora with the twins and their dragons. Rhi has always loved Christmas and wants to decorate and do all the Christmas things they did on Earth but the Zora dragons weren't happy with the fact that Con and Rhi were on Zora. The dragons still resented Con for what happened with their ancestors and forgiveness was still a long way away.
Con, was troubled with the mood on Zora with the dragons. He wanted Rhi to have her Christmas so after speaking with Vaughn, he decided to take Rhi away for a few days for a much-needed holiday without the demands of everyday life intruding on them and spend some much-needed alone time together.
The story is one of love and togetherness and I really enjoyed reading how they spent their time together. I could picture the beauty in my mind. I totally recommend this book written by Donna Grant.

Dragon Frost

Con and Rhi, are one of my very favorite couples. This is a wonderful holiday story as Con surprises Rhi with a trip to the Fae Realm that she had been painstakingly restoring. As they leave to enjoy their holiday….

“He surged upward, the air rushing around them as the thump of his wings drowned out all other sounds. She felt the power of him beneath her. The strength, the might.
The supremacy.
He climbed higher, taking her toward the clouds. The wind whipped her hair out of its hold to stream behind her. The ground became a blur of color. She didn’t pay it any attention. Not when she felt this free.”

Beautiful. This story brings all the feelings and love of a couple that has been together for a long time and are still in love, still feeling the romance. A quick read, but well worth it for the holiday vibes.

A Holiday Celebration for 2 on Zora

Dragon Frost is the newest holiday novella about our beloved characters from Donna Grant’s Dark World. This story focuses on Con & Rhi – Con knows his mate loves to celebrate the holidays and that she feels uncomfortable doing it with all the turmoil on Zora. The two decide to take some time away for just them. We get to see how, and where, Con & Rhi take time for each other. We see them revel in their love and their freedom to be themselves without hiding.

Donna Grant has built such a full world of magic with wonderful characters, but she still can surprise her readers…with a little extra special magic at the end of this holiday story!

Con and Rhi are needed time alone. It's the holiday season and Rhi loves decorating but they are on Zora. The dragons still haven't warmed up to them and they don't celebrate the holidays. So Con takes Rhi away for a few days but not at Zora or Earth. It's a wonderful surprise and Rhi has a few surprises up her sleeve.
Short. Sexy. I could just see where they were it was so descriptive. I could picture the Christmas trees and almost smell the cold.

Christmas is my favorite holiday, even though summer is my season. All of Ms. Grant's characters are so full of love and she manages to spread that to her readers. Dragons, Fae and magic. What more can you ask for? Oh, a Christmas surprise...maybe. A must read for fans of the series and this author. I would even recommend if you need a little something to make you smile. Then, you should start at the beginning. You won't be disappointed. I received an early copy and this is my honest opinion.

The dragons on Zora are still angry and distant from the Dragon Kings and harbor deep resentment and loathing. Con, Rhi and the other Kings worry that they will be asked to leave Zora before they can defeat their unknown enemy. As the weather changes both Con and Rhi can see how much the other is worried and a bit homesick.
Should they go home or somewhere for just the two of them.
Grab a hot chocolate, Christmas cookies a warm blanket and enjoy a Dragon and Fae styled Christmas romance.

Rhi is Con’s mate.
Con Rhi is his mate and he is King of The Dragon Kings.

They are vacationing on the Fae World ( where Rhi is from).
It was a time for reconnecting with each other and to enjoy the coming holidays
and letting go for awhile all their problems.

This book had laughter, joy, and gaiety of life.

It’s so great to see how their relationship is progressing and reading about how they are enjoying their time together. The ending is fabulous and I really enjoyed them opening the presents they gave to each other. It really made me smile and is a great surprise.

Con and Rhi's quiet moment of reflection, of love, of time spent is the best gift a long mated couple can have. I enjoy how self-involved Rhi can be, but how the most thoughtful in the next moment.

ARC review

I loved this short story so much. It was the perfect little Christmas story featuring my favorite couple to get me in the mood for the holidays.

Constantine and Rhi have been on Zora for quite some time helping the twins and the dragons fight their new enemies but the dragons are still unhappy with the presence of the Kings and their mates in their world.

Rhi can see the stress weighing her mate down and is feeling unhappy as well. Fall has arrived on Zora and with Halloween past, Rhi is thinking of her favorite holiday, Christmas, and wishing she could decorate and get into the holiday spirit but there are no such traditions in Zora and Rhi is worried about instigating further tensions.

Constantine, realizing his mate needs a holiday takes her on a special vacation to a surprising location where they can spend some time together cozy by a fire but Constantine isn’t the only one with a surprise for his mate and Rhi’s surprise will change their lives entirely.

DRAGON FROST is a stand alone, holiday novella in Donna Grant’s DRAGON KINGS paranormal, fantasy series, a part of the numerous interconnected Dark Kings series. This is the continuing story of Constantine, King of Dragon Kings, and his mate, Fae warrior and Queen Rhi. DRAGON FROST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for backstory I recommend reading the series in order or having knowledge of previous events.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Rhi and Con) DRAGON FROST focuses on the approach of the Christmas holidays. Con’s mate Rhi loves Christmas, her favorite human holiday but life in Zora is anything by happy for our story line couple. Ostracized by his own children, and the dragons he sent to another realm, Con struggles with his new direction and position but in an effort to make his mate happy, Con plans a holiday celebration for two, taking a trip to the Fae Realm, in spite of what happened months before.

Donna Grant pulls the reader into an emotional story of one man (dragon’s) emotional and powerful love for the woman he lost then found. Watching his mate’s childlike abandon meant more to Con than he could have ever imagined but their exchange of gifts is about change his life, in more ways than one.

DRAGON FROST is a sweet, tender and heart warming holiday short story focusing on Con and Rhi. The premise is captivating-there are no conflicts or pressing issues for our story line couple ; the romance is seductive ; the characters are familiar and fun.
