The pack is falling apart. Ruth's cousin made sure of that when he was the Alpha, and now her family is doing whatever they can to make sure that Elyas doesn't have an easy go of taking over. The pack doesn't go on runs together anymore, the houses in town are falling part, there's garbage all over the place, and if something doesn't change soon, there won't be a pack left to save.
Ruth has only ever heard her family say terrible things about Elyas. How he's power hungry, disloyal, a bad leader, and just all around bad for the pack. She's only ever tried to be what her family wanted her to be, and that means staying far away from the new Alpha that took rank from her family.
Elyas never wanted to be Alpha. But someone had to step up, and now he's got a whole bunch of responsibilities and no one to help him with any of it. He has to try and change the minds of the shifters in the pack, convince them to give him a chance.
But then fate steps in and he finds out that Ruth Banks is his mate.
Wren Elton grew up in the midwestern United States, dreaming of different fantasy worlds, and pouring words out onto whatever paper she could get her hands on. She fell in love with writing when she was around five years old, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has one big dog, a couple of cats, and a deep love of anything bread based.
Oh, I wanted to shake these two then smush their faces together and make them talk to each other! But then there wouldn’t be a book, I guess. I like the writing, the angst. There was miscommunication that was frustrating, but understandable. Slow burn, no other person drama. Family & pack issues were the cause of the conflict. Dual POV.
Such a sweet story! Different take on a werewolf romance. I like the angst and how the couple had to work through it. Definitely a story I enjoyed reading.

The Alpha is hated by her brothers because he defeated her cousin for the position. Her brothers, cousins, her dad and uncle are gruff and entitled with horrid tempers. When she finds the Alpha is her mate she tries to hide it but love won and the mess hit the fan at first but things worked out.
The story was cute but a little bland. The miscommunication trope is essentially the plot, and there is minimal action. No cool wolfie battles. I actually enjoyed the beginning more than the end as it started to feel rushed.
Oh goodness did I have fun with this one! In my mind, it was going to be another rejection novel, like my first shifter romance, The Alpha's Rejected Luna, but neither of these two would let me do it! Ruth and Elias were both very stubborn and very clueless, and while that did lead me toward the miscommunication trope that I normally like to avoid, I ended up having so much fun with it!
