Deadly Mixer is Book 21 in the Witch in the Woods Mystery series by Jenna St. James.
It's New Year's Eve and Shayla and Alex are attending a New Years party at the Spellmore with Needles. Zoie is at PADA for six months training to become a detective.
The party was so much fun and drunk Needles is my favorite! Unfortunately, there is a murder and there are not shortage of suspects and Shayla and Alex have found something to do to cure their empty nest syndrome, solve a murder!
This story really kept me guessing. I absolutely love this story and all the magical characters.
Needles will always be my favorite sidekick! Can't wait for the next book. !
I really enjoy Jenna St James's books. The stories are engaging from the first page. I did not guess who the perpetrator was. There were a few twists and turns. Love it. Start from the first book in the series.
A lot of series get stale by book 21. NOT anything by Jenna St James. Deadly Mixer was another exciting story filled with wonderfully detailed descriptions setting a very magical scene to visit with our friend on New Year’s Eve on Enchanted Island. A very unpleasant woman is killed in front of the whole town at the big event and there are no shortage of suspects. I did not guess this one right thanks to plenty of misdirection and red herrings. Once again Needles shines with his wonderful New Year’s Eve outfit and his invaluable help catching the killer. Ominous ending has me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book.
What a wonderful holiday and new year celebration! I would love to see the parades. So does everyone on Enchanted Island, except the few who have volatile secrets that led to murder. Needles once again shows what a protector he is, and the babies are growing and at the point they offer 'entertainment'. With the kids still at school, everyone is missing them. What will happen when the storm of the century hits the island? Don't ask, its in the upcoming book! Ms. Jenna knows how to keep us all intrigued!
Outstanding book in The Witch in the Woods series, Jenna St. James continues to keep this series strong and surprising! The ending was completely unexpected and I didn't see it ending the way it did. As usual, lots of twists and turns, great characters that are strongly written and new characters added. This book was difficult to put down as the story moves quickly with bits of ohy goodness, what's next!
Ms. St. James introduced the victim in the first chapter, and I knew right away that somebody was going to kill her. LOL! That's how well Ms. St. James describes her characters. I love visiting Enchanted Island and would move there if I could. A tangled mystery with few suspects, plenty of twists and turns, charming characters and a small, enchanted community that steals my heart every time I visit made for another perfect afternoon read.
With Zoie away for 6 months training at PADA, Alex and Shayla are alone living in the castle with just Needles.
It's New Years Eve and the community of Enchanted Island is throwing a party to celebrate the new year to come. When a witch is murdered just after midnight, one who has problems with just about everyone on the Island, Shayla and Alex have many suspects to consider. And each one of them is hiding something big from the police.
Shayla and Alex ring in the New Year with a new murder! The victim was killed by magical means, and the two of them are determined to find the killer quickly. This is, like much of the series, a quick, cosy read, with the familiar cast of characters we have come to love. It's an enjoyable story, perfect for those who want a quick cosy mystery to read.
It's really very basic. Little detective work is needed when the killers almost always confess. Dialogue is dire, and it lacks descriptors... if you don't paint the full picture with words, it's just blah, blah, blah!
I don't know how Jenna St James comes up with such amazing characters and stories!! This one was captivating and had me guessing who the bad guy was until the very end!!
Shayla and Alex are a great investigating team as well as being a married couple. I love the interaction they have with their friends and co-workers as the crimes are solved. Needles keeps everyone on their toes.
When Shayla and Alex attend a New Year’s Eve party, the festivities don’t go as planned. Another murder on the island keeps the crime fighting group busy solving the mystery. Magic complicates the clues but keeps readers thinking.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
Fun series that's a quick read. Murder investigation over New Years Eve and Day. A few twists and turns, but mostly a confession instead of too much investigation this time.
