My mom never told me there was a heart stealing murderer at the Academy of the Profane. But here we are. I thought I'd be navigating classes, mean girls, and boys. Not this. Never in a million years this. I can't unsee what they did to that witch. And honestly? With the history of this academy, it could be a curse, a ghost, or someone like me doing it. But I have a team and my twin. And another god on my side. If anyone can stop this, it's us.
USA Today Bestselling Author JB Trepagnier is secretly 30 feral cats in a trench coat and combat boots writing romance with a shared feral cat hive mind.
The Academy of the Profane continues with the second book in the series, The Goddess is Angry, which was a delight to read.
George is living her best life with her guys, everything is going great. Not only are they taking the time to get to know each other but they are taking the time to cement their bonds with not only G, but each other as well. Poor Azran can't be involved as much since they are the Headmaster but I did enjoy getting a better look at who the Death God was as a person in this one.
As for the others, Church is still obsessed with G, Ren has stepped up his mischievous game (is it any wonder he's involved with a Chaos god's daughter), Oscar is the most level out of all of them, and then there's West. Open, loving, carefree West. West is just gonna West and I absolutely love the adorable (and excitable) lion shifter. He's my favorite out of the harem, he has the type of personality that just made me smile and he like that throughout the entire story.
Then there was Drake whose prejudice against all witches but especially George irritated me to no end. The brat battle between him and G certainly was entertaining. Things take a turn and I find that Drake isn't that bad.
It was great seeing a little of G's twin, Matilda's, story right along with George. I liked she how badass she is, getting updates about her relationships and seeing her thrive in general. The Bells are great, George and Matilda really do have a fantastic family. All chaotic, loving, intelligent, and funny. My favorite scene was when everybody got together, my only wish about this book would be to have that scene extended.
And the murder mystery continues. More bodies are dropping and while the group has narrowed down the suspects, the truth is they really haven't. They aren't really better off than before but they have their theories. Which is good for them because I have to admit I have no idea where JB is taking this, I'm clueless and it's fantastic. I'm picking up clues and trying to come up with theories right alongside them. This plot certainly keeps me guessing.
Of Course, I loved it. The Goddess Is Angry was just as excellent as I knew it would be, I mean how could it not be, it's JB. My laughter could be heard throughout my house while reading. The twins aren't finished at the academy yet and the killer has yet to be unmasked but I got one answer I've been searching for and it was one heck of a plot twist. I can't wait to see what happens next.
This is book two of The Academy of the Profane series and the main characters are witch George (Tempest) Bell, who in fact is a goddess but hiding that fact from all by pretending to be a witch, and her men, West is a lion shifter, Ren is a Kitsune, Azren is the God of Death, Oscar is a Brujo and Church is a vampire. George has a twin sister, Matilda, who is a Hellhound and has two girlfriends, Mina and Mags, as they have different fathers, and a brother Micheal, who is an angel. She was given a necklace to wear from birth, to cover up the fact she is a goddess, which is kind of obvious from her family line and her own father being a primordial, but sometimes genes play about on passing down powers through a line. The current headmaster of the school wants her gone and her daughter Kaylee and BF Paris, are doing all they can to get her expelled believing her to be a weak witch. Kaylee tried throwing a hex at George’s back, but it hit her own mother instead, who is now hiding away in her apartment at the school due to her disfigurement from the hex. Azren has been asked to be acting headmaster in her absence, but even he didn’t realise the lengths Kaylee and her mother were going to, to try and get George out! At least as her professor fro one class, he can make her life impossible and refuse her entry. When the Bashees start screaming one night, it heralds the death of a very popular and powerful witch and it is not the first murder to occur. Azren doesn’t know that school policy was to pretend the student had gone home and quit their studies, instead bringing in some of the other students, like George and her partners to check out the crime scene and see if they could find any clues.
Drake is a Basiisk who wants to find out who killed his parents and why. He was raised in the Netherworld by his adopted mum Ketura and helped out by Azren. He is annoyed that Azren turned to George rather than him at the crime scene, but Azren was trying to protect him from further graphic trauma. But when George gets repeated text messages and calls from a cousin who is a powerful seer, she can’t ignore them anymore. Fate has placed Drake’s quest into George’s path and the two must work together to figure out who the killer is and who killed his parents. Drake had a severe hatred of witches, believing they killed his parents, but as he gets to know George better, he starts to rethink his hatred and it is pointed out to him, that he has no proof of who actually killed his parents. He soon joins George’s harem as another twist enters play, with them being put on the same dodgeball team, along with Oscar and Michael. It bonds them together ever stronger as they now have two tasks to solve and the killing happens again. Azren is slowly beginning to think it might be a god of some kind who is doing the killing for some reason, with a long line of strange killings having been covered up in the past. As if George didn’t have enough to worry about with Kaylee and her mother gunning for her, now she could be a target for the killer. Kaylee’s mother tries to take over again, but fails miserably, with her daughter having done something completely illegal over the Christmas break with her full knowledge, in their latest attempt to get rid of George! I loved how the other gods in the Bell family circle all come together to ensure they are gone and can’t harass George any further, as well as one of them voted to take over for Azren as headmaster, a role he hated because of all the admin! A new twist at the end of this storyline, as a possible god, living on site working in maintenance, knowing he was a supernatural but not what kind, as well as with memory loss, comes to George and wonders what he might be responsible for. A nice puzzle for Azren, as he recognises this person long thought dead and hopes they can find an answer to their memory loss and this might help identify the killer. Lots to look forward to in the next book and I can’t wait to find out what happens next for them all. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Our heroine was not prepared for what is happening at the academy, but that does not mean she is going to stand by and watch. She and her friends are going to put a stop to this one way or the other.
This is book two of the series, but it does pretty well as a standalone. The essentials are covered early on.
This is a paranormal reverse harem romance with an academy setting. The story is well written and easy to read. The characters are well done, with nice backgrounds and unique personalities. I really liked our heroine and her team of friends. The setting is also nicely done with a lot of the standard academy elements plus some surprises. There is a lot of action as well as a bit of steam. Overall, it was a fun read and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Highly recommended.

Ok, so....it was okay. That isn't to say that it was bad, but it wasn't something I found myself needing to finish.
There was just a lot of telling and not so much showing. There were lapses in time that weren't really there, only rushed through and explained away...which isn't something new to books, but it was almost always being done. I'm not sure if I'm explaining that correctly.
The jump from Drake not liking George to suddenly being in the harem was also a jump. I think it was only a page or two that it switched - because it was an explained time-lapse.
This is obviously subjective and may not bother some. Happy reading.
This is even better than the first Academy of the Profane book (and I loved that one!) George is turning into one of my favourite of JB's FMCs - and what a fantastic harem she has! More witches are dying, and despite all attempts the group seem no closer to unmasking the killer or the motive behind the murders...and then that plot twist! Throw in lots of humour and general random shenanigans, and you end up with a delightful read!!

George is still being bullied by the head mistress's daughter - but she now has family teaching at the Academy of the Profane - and her coven to help her. Drake learns that not all witches are evil - and George's secret is revealed. Someone is killing students and stealing their hearts - is Sol responsible? Cant wait for the next book!.

Absolutely Fantastic. I just love this book. George is such a wonderful character. She learns so much in this book and is helping other characters with their issues. Plus the twist at the end of the book was not expected at all. I'm excited to see what happens next and who the killer us. Plus the Krauss lady's get what's coming to them.

Loved this story, as I always do. Just one huge thing of note, the editing was pretty horrid, even distracting at times, some wrong words used or out of order in a sentence. A couple of things were enough of a distraction I had to reread the sentence a couple times. Not going to lie it's why i took a star off. Hopefully it can get a quick re editing, so the author can get all the stars this story deserves.
Hilarious, irreverent, and emotional, this kept me hooked from first to last page. I’ve devoured everything this wonderful author has written, and this does not disappoint. The men are delicious and definitely book boyfriend worthy, the women are strong and courageous examples of female empowerment, and the setting is captivating and addictive. Definitely will be waiting for the next book on bated breath.

Didn't think Book 2 could be even better but I was wrong. Character growth and interaction with past characters was great, giving glimpses of other series characters without causing confusion if you haven't read them. So good, I couldn't put it down. Ending left me excited for the next book.

These books just get better and better. I loved Dexter in this. He and I would be best friends. My favorite part was seeing Lindsay and Headmaster Krauss get what they deserved. I got really excited right before the cliff when Aztec mentioned ragnorak. I immediately thought of Thor. I’m really hoping Sol isn’t the one killing students. I have a feeling he’s important to George.
Wow. This book was amazing. I literally couldn’t put it down once I picked it up. I finished it the same day I started it and man I can’t wait for the next one!! It has mystery, smut, a strong fmc, interesting partners in the harem, and so much more. I love getting to know these characters and just can’t wait to see what happens next. Thank you to the author for early access through Booksprout!
I am loving this series from the amazing world the author has created to the fabulous characters and everything in between. This captivating story held my attention from the first page to the last and after that ending, I can't wait to read the next book in The Academy of the Profane series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
George is back in Book 2, and she’s as bada$$ as ever! More moon orgies, more spoiled backstabbing witches, more partners added, just more more more! At the end, Sol pops up again (basically forgotten about!) - and we get some answers! This series is building to something big and I can’t read what comes next.

I loved the comedy, especially the head biscuits. The Baldur/sol twist is beautiful and between Odin, loki, and the other gods they will find answers. I want to know how church deals with learning about George. But I do see his fear of her just leaving.
Omg!! This book was so good and I absolutely love all these characters. I’m glad that a certain someone finally pulled their head out . Some KARMA was finally served but that ending tho . Wow . I’m so excited for book 3.

I was very happy to see things starting to work out between Drake and George as well as Azren getting closer to George. The way that Lindsay and Kaylee Krauss got their comeuppance was epic, and the plot twist of a resurrected God with no powers was unexpected. Who was resurrected... read it and find out.

That was an ending I didn't see coming. This book was Awesome. I love this series. I hope it goes longer then three books. This whole family is awesome and I would love to keep having stories surrounding them.
I have enjoyed this series. I love George and her coven of men. The plot thickens for this series. I can’t wait to read what happens next. Great to have this series fall from another enjoyable series Great writer
I am absolutely loving this new series from JB Trepagnier and it is so refreshing to read well written and non stereotypical non binary and trans characters!.
Mystery, humor, heat and adventure. This is a fantastic second book to The Academy of the Profane series. There were some amazing twists. I really can't wait to see what is next.
Oh my sweet baby swiss cheese! This book has it all! Mystery? Check. Petty deities? Check. New mates? Check
This book.is phenomenal. It is the second.of George Bell's adventure. As the daughter of a powerful witch and the god of Chaos- life is always interesting around George. Talented witches keep dying, and signs point towards another god as the killer. Add in an evil head mistress and her idiotic daughter, a basilisk intent on hating her, dodgeball, and twin stuff, this story takes you on a ride. Featuring cameos from our favorite uncle Loki, mom, aunt, father who is a deity, and Freya. 😍
