The Friendship Fight

Rate this book
It's fitting that they're reading Romeo and Juliet in class, because Raina Cohen's story is most certainly not having a happy ending. She'd ask her not-so-secret crush Jesse Ashcroft for his opinion, but the formerly close duo haven't spoken in weeks. Instead, Jesse's been hanging out with Nicole, who would happily ensure that Raina met the same fate as Juliet.

But thanks to meddling teachers, Raina's now stuck spending all her free time with the two people she's been trying to avoid. And with her mom breathing down her back about, well, everything, she's trying to balance family, religion, schoolwork, oh, and the simple fact that she can't get Jesse out of her head.

It's a slow journey to rebuilding their friendship - and possibly even more than that - especially with Nicole determined to stand in the middle of the road. But when Raina's father's job is put in jeopardy, it'll take the unlikely trio of Raina, Jesse, and Nicole working together to write their own stories.

First of all, thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
“The Friendship Fight” is a friends-to-lovers YA that takes place in a boarding school called Trinity.
I loved the platonic relationship between Nicole and Jesse and Raina and Jesse were so cute together.
I really appreciated how the author talked about Judaism, and I found the explanations very interesting. This book has helped me learn a lot about Judaism, and I am very grateful for it.

Thank you to Net Galley & Snowridge Press for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review!!

Just wanted to start this review by saying I absolutely loved this book! I read it over two evenings as it was such an easy read, I didn’t want to put it down - I was fully immersed in the characters and their lives at Trinity.
The real family/found family theme in this book was tugging at my heart strings, I adored how the group loved and supported each other through their troubles and their feelings.
The topics that were discussed in this book were also done amazingly - the LGBTQIA+ inclusion and talks on Judaism were such a lovely and interesting part of the story.

I have so much love for Raina and Jesse’s characters, and just the overall level of wholesome/fluffy romance without having to bring any explicit themes into it. I especially enjoyed how Jesse dealt with Raina’s boundaries and the importance of explicit consent. It was such an important factor of what captured my adoration for this book.

The platonic soulmate relationship between Jesse and Nicole was also something I really enjoyed about this book. It’s not often a male and female character are shown with such a strong/close relationship without the main plot point being a love triangle where one of the two girls is eventually completely frozen out and forgotten about. The way the relationship between Raina and Nicole was slowly developed was also really lovely to see.

Overall, I’m super impressed with this book and absolutely adore it! <3

For me, this book was about more than just friendship.

This takes place while the characters are in high school so the writing fits it perfectly, though at times I felt like Jesse spoke like he was older than high school aged. The sweet things he said to Raina were *chef’s kiss*! Where was a guy like that when I was in high school?!

While Nicole and Raina didn’t like each other at first, and never actually became besties, I did enjoy the reasoning why – it is true to how high school kids feel (and sometimes even adults). I also really enjoyed the bigger friendship group as a whole.

There was so much beautiful representation of the Jewish culture in this book. My father is Jewish but since I don’t have a relationship with him, I never learned anything about the culture. I learned so much in this book. The author did a great job of having her friends be open to learning more about her culture and her way of doing things. I related to her on some aspect because there was a time I questioned some of the things that my former religion said or things we had to follow. Raina is trying to find her path while still being respectful of what she was taught and of her mother.

All in all, this was a well written book by this young author. I’m excited to see where she goes with her writing career.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and SnowRidge Press for providing me an ebook in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

The Friendship Fight is the second book in the Trinity High series, which is a series of books that can be read independently from each other, in which we follow Raina and Jesse as they try to rebuild their friendship – and maybe something more.

I chose to request this book based on two things: the cartoon cover that is very cute, and the fact that Romeo and Juliet were mentioned in the synopsis. But do not let that fool you, I ended up being a little bit disappointed by this book. Maybe it was a bit too YA for my taste and definitely aimed for a younger public than me. It is definitely a me problem, but it did not stop me from reading this book in two evenings.
I do have some positive things to say about this book: it is fast-paced novel with a character-driven plot, and there are a lot of representations that I don’t often see or read about: the FMC, Raina, is Jewish, and you get to learn a lot about Judaism in this book. There are aromantic, bisexual and gay side characters that are absolutely adorable. The platonic relationship between two characters was lovely and it was a breath of fresh air to see a male and a female characters being close without necessarily being romantically involved.

I recently read The Friendship Fight by Allie Sarah, and I must say it was a delightful read. The story is about Raina Cohen, who is having a tough time dealing with her not-so-secret crush Jesse Ashcroft and his best friend, Nicole. The trio used to be close friends, but now they're fighting, and Raina is trying to avoid them. But thanks to some meddling teachers, Raina is now forced to spend time with Jesse and Nicole.

The book is a heartwarming tale of friendship, family, and love. The author has done an excellent job of exploring the complexities of teenage relationships and the struggles that come with it. Raina's journey towards rebuilding her friendship with Jesse and Nicole is a slow one, but it's a journey that will leave you rooting for them.

The Friendship Fight is a beautifully written story that explores themes of family, friendship, and love. The characters are well-developed, and the plot is engaging. The book is suitable for young adults and is a great read for anyone looking for a heartwarming story with relatable characters.

Overall, I highly recommend The Friendship Fight to anyone who is looking for a fun, engaging, and heartwarming read. It's a story that will leave you with a warm feeling in your heart and a smile on your face.

Thank you Netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars.

You never know how good a book is until you realise that you have read most of it within one night. I was so drawn into Trinity and the lives of the small group of students.

Though this book is mainly based around Raina, Jesse and Nicole, you get to see all of the characters grow throughout the second installment of this series. I do want to say, I feel like I am obsessed with Jesse. He is the sweetest, most caring character throughout this book and the way he treat Raina is the sweetest.

This book has topics that I feel should be within book a lot more especially when they are considered to be YA. I felt as though each topic was perfect for the book and helped bring the story together. I also appreciate how Judaism was spoken about within this book.

This was also a fluffy romance with a little drama which isn't overpowering at all. The trope for this book would be Friends-To-Lovers with a small enemy part just because of their past. I did enjoy this book a lot more than I expected and cannot wait to see how the series unfolds.

I really enjoyed this book! It really introduced a lot about Raina and her up bringing as being an orthodox Jewish girl. She tries to navigate her first time being at a high school that is Co-Ed.
Raina wants to confined in her crush Jesse but his attention has been on his best friend Nicole. I really like how Allie navigated between the trio. Raina is going through a lot between high school, learning how to handle her crush on Jesse and all the things her mom’s been giving her a hard time about. Now that she’s been pushed to working close with not only Jesse but also Nicole, can Raina figure out how to make it all work? Can Raina, Nicole and Jesse all become friends?
I really enjoyed this story.

Here I am Readers to talk to you about a book that I finished reading in one evening. This book made me understand a lot about Judaism but with a key to understanding a young adult novel that is accessible to everyone, so much so that in my opinion everyone should read it to open their eyes and mind. Because how many times are we closed or even scared when faced with diversity? And we push people away with our prejudices without any foundation. And I liked it even more that all this was covered by narrating the dynamics between Raina, Nicole and Jesse... And believe me all their intertwined stories will keep you glued to the pages. I found myself very much in Raina.... Because many times how difficult it is to reconcile everything and everyone... Truly many.
Now I'm going to read everything Allie Sarah wrote.

The Friendship Fight is the second book in the Trinity High series. It can be read as a standalone which is how I read it, but I would recommend reading them in order because I think that would have made my reading experience better and you would know most of the characters already.

This one just wasn't really for me. It read pretty young for high schoolers in my opinion and it was very hard for me to get into. I didn't find the characters to be particularly likable and didn't feel connected to any of them by the halfway point. I'm not sure if it was the dialogue that felt off or the way the story flowed, but there was something that just made it difficult for me to get through. I read a lot of young adult books and truly enjoy them but it could just be that this one is too much on the younger end of the spectrum for me.

That being said there are a lot of great things about this book, the largest being representation/diversity. Some of the characters are LGBTQIA+, Jewish, have dyslexia, etc. and Allie Sarah does a great job of not overly emphasizing each of these pieces of the characters's identities and making it seem like something negative, but shows how it all affects their high school experiences and relationships with those around them. Consent is also pointedly marked in this book which is great especially for YA since most teens start dating in high school and should be shown more books/shows/movies where consent is an essential part of any relationship and that it's something to be expected. Without giving anything away, I did also like the English teacher and the focus on Romeo and Juliet as someone who studied English Lit in college. This is a slow burn and there is a lot of character growth from start to finish. It's definitely cute and I think would really suit younger readers and those who like YA stories that are big on found family, high school drama, and themes of identity.

Some content warnings include homophobia and antisemitism.

This book follows Raina, a Jewish student at a boarding school and Jesse, who is one of the descendants of the rich school owners. We focus on religion, friendship, and sexuality as the two of them and Jesse's friend Nicole try to navigate a messy situation.

Let's start with the things I liked about the book. The ashcroft children are on top form in this book, I really enjoy reading about how close they are. We also get a lot of Dean and gracie, which is nice. It was interesting to read a book that looks more at the Jewish faith (I believe the author herself is Jewish, so I imagine it's an accurate representation based on her own experiences).

Raina and Jesse are sweet, and I liked that the book focused a it on consent and respecting people's boundaries.

Sadly, though, I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous one. The main conflict caused by Nicole lying to Jesse and her not liking Raina felt glossed over. The lying is never discussed, and the girls spend a lot of time together being civil from very early on in the book. I'm really hoping the next book isn't going to follow blake (I actually think it'll be zara) because I'm not sure he warrants a redemption ARC.

Also, content warnings for antisemitism and homophobia. The elder ashcrofts are very unaccepting of different sexualities and they actually ban same sex couples from attending the dance together. It's nice to see the friend group rallying in support of them, but I'm sure it will be difficult for some people to read.

Right now, im not sure that I'll continue with the series. I really enjoyed book 1, but this one fell flat for me. It would be interesting to see how certain relationships progress, but I'm not dying to read it.

I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to netgalley, Allie Sarah, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

First of all, thank you to Allie Sarah and Net Galley for giving me the chance to read this book!

I’m gonna start with what I liked then I’m going to mention what I didn’t like

The book is a slow burn so that was entertaining. I like seeing growth in characters so that was also pushing me to read more

I liked that the book has quite the eye for consent and its importance and I love that, because some people forget that consent is very important. Doesn’t have to be for reassurances or anything but just the purpose of asking is a must so I really appreciated Jesse

I liked that one of the representations was dyslexia. It’s not really known. I know some people who are dyslexic so I like when it’s mentioned in books as a form of awareness

It’s the second book in a trilogy. Even though it’s a standalone, I wish I read the first book.. I think it would’ve made more sense

I’m not antisemitic but I’m not really into books that are pro Jewish and religious. However, I did like the information presented about Judaism. That was interesting to read about

I usually enjoy YA books, but I felt like I’ve matured enough and outgrew these kinds of books so it wasn’t really much of a book I enjoyed but I enjoyed the writing style. It was just a cute book but nothing galvanic. I was just reading to read

Buuut, if these are some of the tropes that you enjoy, then I suggest you give this book a go

Raina has joined Trinity boarding school this year and quickly becomes friends with Gracie and Jesse (who she *might* have a major crush on). But then Nicole rejoins the school after a month away, tells them all about Raina's crush and now Jesse is back to being best friends with Nicole and ignoring Raina. She's miserable, and then Mrs Dixon starts meddling, asking Nicole to tutor Raina in Romeo and Juliet and partnering her with Jesse for a project. Can they all be friends?

First thing, I didn't notice this was a sequel, but it works fine as a standalone book. It is, I would say, a fairly young YA book, it's all relatively shallow but I actually really liked it. It was a nice easy read and break from real life.

I noticed someone had reviewed the previous book on Amazon and wasn't happy at the swearing and references to "sleeping with". So I guess I should mention they are still there, it's not a big deal, it's just a few jokes and I'm sure anyone that's reading this knows all about that anyway.

So basically, it's not going to win any awards but I liked it. I've downloaded the first one to see what I missed and I hope it's the same lighthearted story, likeable characters and an attempt to tackle some more serious issues.

“It’s an idea” Jesse shrugged. “But I’m not thinking about college right now, Raina.” “Why not?” Raina asked. Jesse reached out to tilt her chin up until she was staring into his eyes. “Because I’m with you.”

Raina has a big crush on Jesse, who used to be her friend until recently when his best friend, Nicole, made it clear she really disliked Raina. Now they’re all studying Romeo and Juliet in school and Reina is being forced to pair up with Jesse for the project. Slowly, they start to rebuild their friendship and an unlikely trio starts to form between Raina, Jesse and Nicole.

My review 📖:

I really like how the book focuses on the importance of consent between two people. Jesse talks about how it’s important to ensure that before you kiss someone you ensure the other person wants to as well.

There are a lot of dynamics explored in this book: friendships, relationships, family drama, school life and religion. This is great if you enjoy depth to your stories.

This book is suitable for those aged between fourteen and seventeen. I normally enjoy reading YA but this one was just a little too young for me.

My Score: 3/5 ⭐️

This is a sweet coming-of-age story about Raina, a girl from an Orthodox Jewish upbringing who is attending her first co-ed high school. There is a lot of diversity in this book.

Between dealing with religious beliefs, friendships, and feeling the need to be accepted and fit in, Riana learns how to become her true self.

With all of that going on, their in a live interested that ends up ghosting her for no reason!!

Rians lens for too be her own self while sleep trying to keep some of her background on how she was raised.

I enjoyed this light and sweet story!

This is a sweet coming-of-age story about Raina, a girl from an Orthodox Jewish upbringing who is attending her first co-ed high school. I loved the diversity, as the author shows us how different Raina's upbringing is, as she works to balance her religious beliefs with fitting in and being accepted, something every teenager wants. Throw in the drama of the love interest suddenly ghosting her for no reason, and she's stressed. I loved how the author portrayed Raina, showing us her resolve to live as she was raised, but also being open to considering how she wants to live. There were a few mistakes, but nothing that got in the way of the story. I knew nothing about this book going in, and I was pleasantly surprised!

I'd like to thank Plunge Into Book Tours for introducing me to this book!

The Friendship Fight is the second book in the Trinity Trilogy, and while it can be read as a standalone, I would personally recommend reading them in order. This book does start out a little on the slower side, but it does pick up and you do get a really good idea and feel for the characters. I loved seeing the growth with each one, and I honestly loved all the characters that were in this story. I very much enjoyed learning about the Jewish culture and all of the rules that they have and have to follow, as one of the characters is Jewish. I thought this book was paced well, flowed smoothly, and was a really good story.

This book was a bit of a stray from my romantasy and thriller collection and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I was able to read this quickly which made it that much better. There were so many great themes in this book and of course it was pulling at the heartstrings all the way through. I love the different characters and how unique they were. The growing bond of found family and friendship was great. Jesse, Nicole and Raina, I loved them all. The little mix of drama made it feel much more realistic and if you love sweet little romantic stories this is the right book for you! Thank you so much for allowing me to be able to read it.

“I’ve come to realize I need to make choices based on what makes me happy. For so long I’ve followed all the rules, all the logic, everything that I’ve been told without question. But there’s so much more to life than that. I want to experience it all, and I want to do it with you.”

• Reading this brought me back to my highschool feels! This is a little new to what I usually read so I got off to a slow start, and even though this is the second book to a series, it wasn't hard for me to catch up, and it felt like a mystery unraveling while reading it.
• I liked the representation of the Jewish culture, I learned a lot about it and I kept on highlighting parts so I can remember them.
• Raina juggling life, friendships, love, schoolwork, religion, community, and an overly "supportive" mom lol makes her character very relatable and more real.
• I also love Jesse's character! He's such a sweetheart, a little clueless lol but very Shakespeare romantic. I like his platonic friendship with Nicole and I like the part where Nicole gave way, I was like, "Yes! Unproblematic!"
• The cousins! I love their relationship, that even though they are a mix of very different personalities, they always have each others' backs.

All in all, this was a lovely read!

'The Friendship Fight' is your usual novel of this genre. I'll be honest, I enjoyed the writing style but there wasn't anything mindblowingly special about this book. If I didn't read it recently, I probably wouldn't even know what I had read. Would I read another book by this author? Maybe, who knows what the future holds.

This was really cute. It is definitely a slow burn though. I found it really interesting to learn more about Jewish culture and the rules that Raina follows. Jesse was so sweet and I just adored their relationship. She was so unsure of things and I liked seeing her growth and learning what works best for her.

I like the read between Raina and Jesse. Raina has a crush on Jesse and it's not really a secret, though their banter is cute!

They are Jewish and that is mentioned quite a lot. If you aren't Jewish, you may find it too much, just FYI. Also I like the YA genre!

A good read but took me awhile to really get into the book. The whole thing with Jesse taking Nicoles side and believing obvious lies was a bit ridiculous but by the end he realises his mistakes and fixes them and so does Nicole which is good.

I love Raina and Jesse’s story so much🥺 I didn’t want to put this book down!! This book had me so interested in what would happen next and if Raina and Jesse would end up together. I also really enjoyed learning more about the Jewish community and Jewish beliefs from Raina. It’s not a subject I know much about so it was super cool being able to learn more about that community while I devoured this book! I also really enjoyed seeing the other members of the group go through their challenges and struggles. I absolutely adore Theo😩 I need a book on each of the characters now tho👀 I want to read Theo fall in love🥺

An entertaining read. The story starts slowly, you'll get to know Nicole, Jesse and then Raina. I kept on reading as it contains so many really interesting characters. I was rewarded for my persistence. I enjoyed the character's personalities and the teamwork between all the side characters as well whether siblings or friends. I love the concept of having a healthy siblings relationships in this book.

I don't know that it's one of the book in series, later on I came to know that it's the second book in series but now worries you can read it as standalone too. I think the first book is all about Dean and Gracie story, so if you wanna read more about him you can definitely go for it. I love Ashcroft boys, they're so damn good.

Raina grew up in a strict jewish family, her mom doesn't like the idea of her studying in Tristan and also forces her to study in Jewish ideas. Also in her community girls shouldn't talk to boys, but Raina made some friends in Tristan and also she like Jesse who's not a Jewish boy. I got to know so much things about Jewish ideologies and their beliefs. Book represent queer characters also.

Finally this book is about Raina making friends outside of her community living in her own, deciding her career and all. I love Jesse Ashcroft and his platonic friendship with Nicole. I want to know more about Nicole part of story, but unfortunately this book is all bout Raina and Jesse, hope we'll get a book about Nicole soon.
