Garrett’s job with the Coastguard is high-paced and harrowing, but his social life resembles an ocean freighter stuck in the doldrums. With Christmas on the horizon, he’s trying to hold to his new faith, but a tragedy in his childhood makes it the one holiday he dreads.

Paramedic Whitney Springfield loves Christmas, and Garrett Lovett might be the best Christmas gift ever—if she could get him to notice her. But it’s evident that silky blond locks trump her red curls where the handsome IronWorks grad is concerned.

When another Christmas tragedy strikes, Garrett and Whitney join forces to catch a killer. In the midst, they may find each other—if the guilt from past mistakes doesn’t keep them apart.

One thing you can count on when you visit the New Life Church on the pages of a Linda K. Rodante novel or novella (like Prevail) – there will be some intense drama, and the church service you happen to visit probably won’t be like any you’ve ever experienced before. This fictional church is on the front lines of ministering to gang members, and there are people – and spiritual forces – who are not happy about it.

I must confess, though, that I was lulled into a false sense of peace as Prevail begins. Relaxing into a Christmasy service, chuckling at Garrett’s grumpiness at the explosion of Christmas decorations, perking up at the potential romantic interest that plops down next to him…. I won’t tell you what happens next but, yeah, I shouldn’t really have been surprised by it lol. Cue the aforementioned intensity and a chain of events that caught me praying for one of the characters before I realized what I was doing. Because, you see, I love the characters of New Life Church & the IronWorks ministry. I’ve been with them since book one, and several of them feel like dear friends at this point. And once you meet these prayer warriors and gospel warriors, you’ll fall for them too. (You can read Prevail as a standalone but I also highly encourage you to go back and read the series from the beginning too.)

In the middle of the tension and life-threatening danger, though, Rodante infuses the story with moments of humor, swoony romance, and the true meaning of Christmas. Moose in particular simply delighted me, and there’s a great scene with Reece and Garrett toward the end that had me chuckling at loud – once I remembered to breathe! I also loved watching Garrett fall for Whitney (who has been in love with him for a while), and I adored the way the author orchestrates the perfect setting for any grand declarations he may want to make. It was Hallmark-worthy, sweet, romantic, and very Christmasy – and it put a big smile in my KissingBook loving heart.

Bottom Line: As you prepare for the Christmas season with New Life Church, feel free to wear that cozy Christmas sweater… but maybe pack a bulletproof vest too. Readers will experience a wide range of emotions as they read this novella, and they’ll be quickly – and deeply – invested in the lives of these characters. Despite the shorter word count, the plot and the people are layered and developed, keeping you glued to the pages from cover to cover. The power of prayer and the importance of a relationship with Jesus are evident, but it fits organically with the story so it doesn’t come across as heavy-handed or forced. Prevail by Linda K. Rodante is an ideal blend of breath-holding suspense, powerful faith, Christmas cheer, and sweet romance. Make sure it’s on your holiday TBR list!

Prevail by Linda K. Rodante

Garrett Lovett has a lot to thank the Lord for, he is an ex-gang member who has recently been hired by Coast Guard and he has a wonderful church family who has been with him and helped him find the Lord in all that he does. The only thing that he would like to have now is a mate, the woman that God has for him. He has been reading the word and leaning on God and he has been trying to obey more when he knows that God is talking to him. So that morning he gets to church and sits down next to Whitney, he listens to the worship music and tries to commit himself to the Lord and listen to the words. But someone came in and sat down on the other side of Whitney and he felt this cold, evil presence go through the sanctuary.

Whitney Springfield is very content with her life. She has a wonderful family & church family, a good job as an EMT, and she is always ready to help when help is needed. What she does not have is someone in her life to share it all with. She has prayed and asked God to provide her with the man He has chosen for her and she hopes it is the man that she Garrett. There is something about him that has drawn her to him, she is not sure he would be interested but if God has picked she knows He will let Garrett feel "it" as well.

Thank you Linda K. Rodante for allowing me to be on your launch team. This was very good and too short and I do hope there is at least one more to come in this series.

If you’re a fan of Romantic Suspense, you will love this fast-paced Christmas Book. Yes, Christmas and suspense together in one great read. Prevail is book five in the Spiritual Warfare Series by Linda Rodante and she doesn’t disappoint. The cover is perfect and is in theme with the others in the series. Prevail can be a standalone but is most appreciated after reading them in order.

Mayhem and murder are on the agenda of a sinister person with a grudge. Ex-gang member Garrett and Paramedic Whitney, who also volunteers at the kitchen for IronWorks, make a dynamic team to identify and capture the killer.

I love the Christian element mingled with the excitement and romance that Rodante brings to readers in her books. The gang influence is there and the warfare is clear. Prayer is a powerful component and it’s wonderful seeing young people using it. The light of Christ is also evident in the nativity and the magic of the real meaning of Christmas.

In book 5 of her Spiritual Warfare series, Linda Rodante gives ex-gang member Garrett Lovett and paramedic Whitney Springfield their own story. A Christmas story.
But this isn’t a typical Christmas story with cocoa, candy canes, and snowmen. Someone is out to get Reese Jernigan, and Garrett is determined to find out who.
I’ve enjoyed the books I’ve read in this series. Rodante tackled complex issues. She challenged readers to think about their faith journey and what it means to love those whom society deems unlovable. If you’ve read any of these stories, grab the final book!
I thank the author for a free copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions stated are my own.

Prevail Indeed!

I have really enjoyed reading this series of books! The characters are very interesting and they give a glimpse into how awful gang life can be. God’s love can redeem even the toughest gang member and show him/her how to love others.
After the last book, it is good to know Garrett has found love and love does prevail! I like the possibility of angels being involved in our lives and the way that is woven into the story!

I’ve really enjoyed this Spiritual Warfare Series. I small inside look at other people’s difficulties. Whitney was a tough sweetheart and Garrett was just tough. Too much hurt, too much mistrust. BUT GOD!

Loved the romance

Another spiritual warfare attacks the church and guilt and misunderstanding nearly destroy a romance yet to bud between Garrett and Whitney. Another great romantic suspense from the author.

The story of Garrett and Whitney was so good. It is not easy to let things so in the past. Though with God anything can happen. This story held true to all of the others in the series.

Prevail by Linda Rodante is a romantic suspense about spiritual warfare. I always enjoy her books because she shares the gospel of Jesus in a way that offers hope through her characters and their storyline. It is an easy read and can be read in one evening.
