The Legend of Nyx:
You sure get a big bang for your buck with this boxset. It's very worthy of your money and your time to read it. From page 1 book 1 the only time you'll want to put it down is to grab the next book.
Truth be told, the vampire aspect in the synopsis is what drew me to these books. Not to mention the cover, love it. And thank goodness I grabbed it.
The plots are like nothing I've ever read before. It had me turning page after page, like binge watching a TV show.
Nyx is a kick butt loveable character & her love for designer stilettos is fantastic! The world is incredible & the characters are well thought out and extremely colorful. We even get characters from other of Mr. Monroe's books. It has everything. Vampires, zombies, elementals and so much more. Plus the humor throughout had me in stitches. Nyx' journey concludes in the best way Mr. Monroe could have done it. PERFECTLY!
Vilokan Asylum:
If you only buy one boxset, this has got to be the one. Mr. Monroe's writing style is so unique and very refreshing. He very quickly became a favorite of mine. Each book in this boxset has supernatural and biblical characters. Yet they all have real life human problems and insecurities that are handled in real life ways. Plus there's always a fantastic supernatural plot throughout. Each book is a fun, enthralling, wild ride for your imagination and they just get better and better. Don't let this boxset slip away. Completely one click worthy.

The Mark of Cain:
I won't give major spoilers but the book has werewolves, vampire witches, vampire werewolves, voodoo queens, rougarou, a Sith and more. The Sith is the big baddie that vampires are even fearful of her being awakened. Jessie is annoying at first but when you find out why and she stops, she really is a great character. Cain, yes that Cain, is roughly a 6000 year old mental health therapist for the supernatural asylum underground during the day and for the werewolves topside in NOLA. Rutherford however is my favorite. She finally started bringing Cain into the modern age and is also making him go out and do things with her. I guess you can say she's " teaching her old dog some new tricks." LOL
Cain's Cobras:
A lot goes on in this Cain book. More than usual I'd say. It's so fast paced that you won't want to put it down. I didn't.
First off, in chapter 1, Cain's reaction to Rutherford's sonogram is priceless. After that however, Cain has is work cut out for him. Thank goodness he has true friends to help. And pretty much everyone makes an appearance. My beloved Pauli even shows up with perfectly hysterical one liners. Beli in dragon form helps in a big way as well. Cain and crew were put through the wringer. Cain and Abel both were being attacked in multiple ways. A Haitian couple come to town and all hell breaks loose. Robenson is a hougan and his wife Rosalie is a mambo. Neither of their aspects are what they think they are. They are so much worse. I don't want to spoil anything so let's just say all the insanity (no pun intended) revolves around Adam and Eve and that blasted witch of Endor.
I can go on and on with spoilers or how much I loved this book but I think you should fall in love with it yourself.
Crazy Cain:
This is the best Cain book yet.
It starts primarily with Cain and Robenson trying to learn more of the Damballa's aspect inside Cain. Through a journal Rosalie sends Robenson, they find a ritual that requires three veves. Once the ritual is performed Cain starts having dreams of what he has done in his past. In them, he chooses different paths then the ones he took.
Upon waking from the second nights dream is where things go off the rails. Cain wakes up with his wrists, head and ankles strapped to a table in none other then the Vilokan Asylum. Now I can't say too much from here on out so I don't spoil anything but I can say a few things.
When Robenson told Cain he'd make Pauli "squirm," I could vividly picture the look on Cain's face.
Mercy's retort on their "discussion" about curse words is priceless.
There's even a new character, Bernadette that I hope shows up in the next book.
The off handed Spice Girls song quote definitely had me rolling my eyes while rotfl.
And last but not least Cain gets a cool "gift" from Damballa's aspect!
I couldn't put it down and I'll wager you can't either.

This gives both complete series for Nyx and Cain and, although the author lists it as for mature audiences, I advise parental guidance for our more mature or intellectually gifted young adults.

Scared Shiftless: Either have a full, LONG day to dedicate to this PG13 paranormal LGBT romance between a water elemental and a human or allow two days to consider the ramifications of systemic oppression of the "other". A MUST-READ 5*
Bat Shift Crazy: It would probably be best to allow two days for this PG15 contemporary urban fantasy paranormal romance featuring Nicky and Devin. It is part of a series but works well as a stand-alone. 4*

The Cowl of Cain: Allow another long afternoon for this PG15 contemporary paranormal romance is set a couple of months later than The Mark of Cain. 5*

*** Reviewing “BOOK 2: BAT SHIFT CRAZY” ***
This is an action-packed story in the Nyx series that never slows down. It captivates the reader from the first page as Nyx and her warlock boyfriend, Devin, are attacked by five vampires. I actually felt sorry for the vampires as the first move Nyx makes is to kick out with her 9-inch stiletto shoes (my legs cramped even trying to imagine walking in those) and impaled the vampire in the chest. Devin followed up with a fireball to make sure there would be no coming back from that encounter. (I then had to pause for wild laughter when Nyx says about their partnership, “I staked 'em. Devin baked 'em.”)

This is an action-packed story in the Nyx series that never slows down. It captivates the reader from the first page as Nyx and her warlock boyfriend, Devin, are attacked by five vampires. I actually felt sorry for the vampires as the first move Nyx makes is to kick out with her 9-inch stiletto shoes (my legs cramped even trying to imagine walking in those) and impaled the vampire in the chest. Devin followed up with a fireball to make sure there would be no coming back from that encounter. (I then had to pause for wild laughter when Nyx says about their partnership, “I staked 'em. Devin baked 'em.”)

Anything this author writes is addicting. Very good fantasy and world building.
This series kinda contains 2 series with one book from a third. The first with nynx or Nicky the second with Cain as main characters. Of the 2 my favorite was on Cain. He may be one of my favorites by this author (druid detective being number one )
I'm not that fond of the first book in this series. However overall series is an enjoyable read. I like the characters they are relatable and teach some good life lessons, forgiveness, no one being so bad they are not redeemable, even the worst can turn around. Liking yourself for who you are and how your made, helping others (friends) even when things go bad, family, friends, looking out for each other, good vs evil (evil sometimes looks good). Plus more. Dealing with our mental health issues, resisting temptations,
Series took 4 days to read 2 of those pretty seriously. Each book in series a nice afternoon read. Cains shorter than Nickys.
First series first book especially has some LGBTQ themes rest in series although LGBTQ characters not quite as strong. That book may not agree with all. It does have good info on mental health struggles many go through. Acceptance, bullying etc. It did open my eyes to a few things. Although I'm not sure I agree with all messages in that book (but frankly no one agrees 100% with anyone) Author also uses a Bible message in these series (no judging by main characters) the 2 together actually kinda works.
I actually didn't think I'd like the series on Cain as I I figured it would be mostly dry counseling, book reminded me helping others work through mental problems often means spending real time with people and building relationships. I loved the camaraderie in this series and love shown to each other. Helping even when other friend seemed a lost cause. Like I already mentioned no one is not redeemable if they purpose to change. I liked how author used first murderer to show that.

Read These Great Books and Forget Your Troubles for Awhile
I have read more than 40,000 books in the last 60+ years. Theophilus Monroe is one of my favorite authors, so take that for what it's worth. His mastery of mythological paranormal creatures is unmatched, I hadn't even heard of some of them until I started these series.
In the first set, Nyx was a female siren, with the ability to take the form of whomever she bit. Unfortunately for her (but good for Mr. Monroe's readers), her last victim was a vampire who bit her back, and in the process stole her shape-shifting ability. So she's stuck in a male human body, but her psyche insists she's still female. Enter one cross-dresser.
In the second set, the Vilokan Asylum of the Magically and Mentally Deranged, the Asylum is led by Cain (the original murderer and the world's first wolf shifter). Dr. Cain studied psycology under Sigmund Freud (apparently wolf shifters live a LONG time) and here Cain thrives as a hero, having turned himself around a few thousand years ago. Typical of Mr. Monroe's work, this series has more hairpin curves, twists and turns then a goat path in the Himalayan mountains. He interweaves more fantastical characters and multitudes of plots in a single novel than many authors do in a lifetime. From ghosts and witches to vampires and werewolves, Biblical characters to Haitian voodoo, dragons to cross-dressing shapeshifters; you never know what's coming next, just the way I like it. This series is the end of Cain's story, but there are too many lovable characters for them to fade into the gray.
The final novel in this set is an introduction to the Blood Witch saga. Think about your life ... when you were the most healthy, most vibrant. Now, imagine immortality without ever having body pain, without growing older - just wealthier, wiser and more skilled. That's Hailey Bradbury's new life. Sounds like a plan to me.

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. Better set aside some free time so you can be prepared as you are drawn into the world, and the seemingly impossible situations Nyx finds herself in. Thank goodness for her 9 inch stiletto heels that she can use in a pinch to take out the undead! I just love her humor as she transforms from club singer to vigilante seeking out the Queen vampire who changed her. The nights are to hunt, the days are her own, as life throws her curveballs that she must solve. There are other characters from other series by the same author that are craftily embedded throughout the series. Makes you curious about them too. But I can truly say this author has a gift to craft beautifully written storylines that will capture your heart, and your time.
Speaking of which, brings us to the 2nd half of this omnibus. The Viloken Academy, which is run by Dr Cain, yes, the biblical Cain that has been brought back, resurrected so to speak, but is now a werewolf. His specialty, the physiatrist that he pledges to make comfortable new patients with their newfound personality. Good thing too, because when threats arise and danger encompasses his world, or the humans that can’t know about the facility, he pulls out all the stops to figure out how to save the day. Of course this is with a bit of help from his patrons, friends and coworkers who each have gifts of their own. Some magical, some shiftchanging. One thing is for sure, Dr Cain will soon capture your heart and your attention as the pages turn in these fast paced, action packed suspenseful scenarios that will have you biting your nails while the impossible becomes possible while you wonder how.

"Shift Two" tells the story of Cain, yes, *that* Cain, the first werewolf, and now a psychotherapist at the Vilokan Asylum for the Magically and Mentally Deranged, still draws the attention of supernatural beings both positive and negative. The "Vilokan Asylum of the Magically and Mentally Deranged" is a series of adventures as he both fights monsters from various mythologies (led by his main nemesis) and treats his therapy patients.

Give me more!!
This is a complete double set by a master of paranormal, urban adventure. Theophilus Monroe has quickly become one of my favorite authors in this genre. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down.

These spellbinding books are filled with non-stop paranormal action, magic, drama, intrigue, and even some romance. I was sad to reach the end because I wanted more!

What a collection! Each book was better than the one before as the storylines built in intensity. The premise behind Cain's character lays the foundation for this exceptional series. Theophilus Monroe is able to include every possible type of paranormal in the plots in a way that is truly masterful. The non-stop battles and schemes kept me on the edge of my seat. My only complaint is the cliffhanger at the end of the final book but that just means I get to read another book in the series!

With my insomnia kicking in again, what better way to while away the time than to binge on a Theo box set? And this one was a monster! Two complete series in one, couldn't get better! It's very difficult to assign a "favourite" character from any of Theo's books, they are all so different and unique that my favourites are whomever I'm reading about at the moment.
The first series is The Legend of Nyx, impossible NOT to love this character! We start off in book 1 with a Nyx who is an incredibly likeable character. Ok, so her "true" form devours and feeds on humans, she's the supreme predator. I mean, a gal's gotta eat right? Except Nyx it's a tad more complex than that. As a water elemental she changes into the form her prey most desires, and that is either gender. Yeah, she's the ultimate shapeshifter. Until her "meal" turned on her and Nyx became the prey. Here's the snag though, that encounter left her frozen in her present shape, I mean, how the heck was she supposed to know her "meal" was a Vampire? So here we have her, stuck as a male, but identifies as a female and her hunt begins to find the vamp who bit her, to try get her shifting ability back. But, to her surprise, she changes. She no longer wants to feed on every human she sees, she falls in love and now she wants to save humanity from the Order, who want to eliminate every supernatural. She takes full advantage of the human classification of Trans, she embraces it and opens a club where she is the main attraction, singing like a nightingale. The author approached this subject with the utmost respect. Nyx is one of those characters that tugs at the heart, she's such fun, a singing, fighting diva in her Louboutins! She definitely puts new meaning to "if you've got it, flaunt it!"As with all of Theo's books, there's tons of action, always fast paced, always exciting, always a twist or ten and, my favourite, always peppered with the most off the cuff humour which catches me by surprise, every time! Love this series and I love both Nyx and Devlin to smithereens!
The next box set in this box set... well, another of my favourites! See??? So hard to choose... But Cain is another very special persona. Firstly he's THE Cain, you know, the biblical Cain, the Cain who slew his brother in a fit of jealous rage. Yeah, THAT Cain but so so different. 2000 odd years have a way of putting everything into perspective, which Cain does. He's so...evolved. That's the only word I can come up with, he's reflected on his past, he regrets so much of it, mostly killing his brother. So what does he do, why, he becomes a psychologist of course! A psychologist who dedicates himself to helping supernaturals, and he's darn good at what he does. He carries his curse like a chokehold around his neck, resigned to his predicament. Even though all of Theo's books are action packed, this one surplants all others. From his role in the Vilokan Asylum, to his role with his pack, to his role trying to prevent evil spilling out into the world, to confronting his greatest fear, this is the ultimate fascinating read. We get so many awesome characters, like Michael, you know, the angel, who is NOT who we think he is. Actually, very few of these characters are who we assume them to be, take Abel, Cain's dead brother, who's is resurrected thanks to necromancy. There were so many beautiful moments between them, well once they got the resentment out the way. And my best was the relationship with Rutherford, OMG, what a gorgeous relationship! I loved their banter and the fierce love they have for each other. This series resonates with the ultimate redemption, second chances, love, acceptance and has the most brilliant biblical references throughout, just loved it! There is plenty to keep the reader completely engaged and enthralled throughout, battles, betrayal, vengeance, mystery as well as completely unexpected developments! They're light reading, pure and utter fantasy, while at the same time tackle some real life issues. Theophilus Monroe is an author I firmly believe everyone should read!

That's the only word I can come up with, he's reflected on his past, he regrets so much of it, mostly killing his brother. So what does he do, why, he becomes a psychologist of course! A psychologist who dedicates himself to helping supernaturals, and he's darn good at what he does. He carries his curse like a chokehold around his neck, resigned to his predicament. Even though all of Theo's books are action packed, this one surplants all others. From his role in the Vilokan Asylum, to his role with his pack, to his role trying to prevent evil spilling out into the world, to confronting his greatest fear, this is the ultimate fascinating read. We get so many awesome characters, like Michael, you know, the angel, who is NOT who we think he is. Actually, very few of these characters are who we assume them to be, take Abel, Cain's dead brother, who's is resurrected thanks to necromancy. There were so many beautiful moments between them, well once they got the resentment out the way. And my best was the relationship with Rutherford, OMG, what a gorgeous relationship! I loved their banter and the fierce love they have for each other. This series resonates with the ultimate redemption, second chances, love, acceptance and has the most brilliant biblical references throughout, just loved it! There is plenty to keep the reader completely engaged and enthralled throughout, battles, betrayal, vengeance, mystery as well as completely unexpected developments! They're light reading, pure and utter fantasy, while at the same time tackle some real life issues. Theophilus Monroe is an author I firmly believe everyone should read!

In this collection get two series with amazing characters and stories that kept me reading and glued to the end to see what would upset them in each story.
Nyx is a shifter but after being bitten cannot shift and instead must live on land and ends up meeting a cast of characters and being a cool vampire hunter. Nyx and her friends do battle, snark and enjoy life in these fast paced entertaining stories. Very entertaining and crazy reads.
The Vilokan Asylum of the Magically and Mentally Deranged: This series is a riot and so much fun to read. I enjoyed meeting Dr Cain and this bit of a twist on the Cain and werewolf myths combined into a cool hero. All the stories are fast paced and fun to read I enjoyed all the characters that Dr Cain met as the series unfolds with many a riot. Both entertaining and a twist to the usual paranormal series plus a dash of New Orleans twist. Never quite knew what was around the corner and the surprises that would pop up and add to all the fun.

OMG! The first thing I need to say is "Buy This Set NOW." Theophilus Monroe has quickly became one of my favorite authors! He has such a story weaving gift. This box set follows 2 series. They are both equally incredible!
The first series follows Nyx. She is a wicked cool shapeshifter. Unfortunately, a vampire she bit, bit her back. The bite took away all of her abilities to shift. If that isn't horrible enough, she gets stuck in a man's body. Even worse, it's a human body too! Just horrid! But her brain still loves fashion, and her oh so important stilettos. She's quirky and fun. The series follows her journey to get her abilities back.
The second series follows Cain. And yes it is that Cain, lol. Cain was not only the world's first werewolf, he was also the world's first murderer. His interest gets piqued in psychology and he studied under Freud to become a psychiatrist. He works at the asylum treat magically insane. He wants Redemption. Can he earn it?
I can't recommend this set enough! It's so entertaining, and you won't be able to put it down!

The Legend of Nyx series:
I have now to accept the truth, I am addicted to T. Monroe's books and series. The characters that he weaves in his series are just impossible to resist, and the storytelling is on point. So this complete collection is just perfect, no need to worry how this is going to end, everything is already written. I really enjoyed meeting this strong heroine Nicky stuck in a male body and seeing her progression throughout the book. I liked the transgender theme and the different focus on non-binary characters. A great series!

So many books to consume in the one box set, with two complete series, a great collection. The first series is about Nyx (Nicky/Nyxie), who is an elemental, who needs to find the vampire who stole her abilities. Nyxie is stuck in a male body, but doesn't let that stop her from dressing the way she wants to and wearing her heels. Can she track down the vampire and get her vengence? I loved Nyxie's spirit, loyalty (for those who live in her heart), and the interesting adventures she gets up to. I liked Brucie, he was fun.
The second series is Cain's series, his curse lead him to be the world's first werewolf, so he has been around for a long time, now he tries to help the Magically and Mentally Deranged (by being their psychiatrist). I loved the twists and turns of Cain's story, the fights he has with some interesting monsters, and his passion for treating his patients.

Not for someone who doesn't need a lot of sleep! This 6-book set follows Nicky/Nyx on her journey from Neck to human and everything she has to deal with being trans, fighting all kinds of creatures and figuring out love.
The Vilokan Asylum of the Magically and Mentally Deranged - When Cain began working at Vilokan he thought he was just going to be doing his normal psychiatric business but it turns out that Cain, werewolves, and witches have to band together to fight off the end of the world as we know it.
Each set is chock full of action and romance, ending well. Very highly recommended.

What I love most about this author is his imaginative approach to different topics. His comments are not always original, but they are always wise, interesting and often surprising. He makes you more empathetic, and gives a lot of food for thought.
It is not only that the author is talented, the action fast-paced, the imagination boundless and the story surprising, but there is a wise approach to life and religion that I find thought-provoking and original. Also, I think the author has lateral thinking, and explains some developments based on a vivid but reasonable imagination. These stories will satisfy any lover of the genre, but there's also a deeper message to it, and that is unconditional, selfless love.
If you are intrigued, go ahead and read this book, it's totally worth it.

World, watch out! We have two very different main characters – one, the original werewolf, and the other, the trans-species transgendered slayer – trying to maintain order in their hometowns but each attracting TROUBLE, resulting in each living lives which resemble rollicking soap operas crossed with supernatural horror crossed with almost-apocalypses of biblical proportions. of biblical proportions of very different types. Fortunately, both have protective streaks miles-wide and many friends who help them save their personal worlds several times over. I have to say that it is a good thing that Cain and Nyx do not live in the same city – the city might not survive both of them!

This is a must read y'all!!! You know the story of Cain and Able? Did you know Cain was punished and was the FIRST werewolf? Oh you didn't, tell you better read this series.
Nyx... oh sweet Nyx. Who doesn't love a siren type gal who stakes vampires in her spare time? This series brings us love, past characters of other series, so many adventures, and so much more.
Theophilus Monroe writes like no other, and you are doing an injustice to yourself if you don't reach all of his series that just keep getting better and better.
Be ready to cry, laugh, cry because you are laughing so hard, and finding new 'family'.

Quick Correction to the title: This is 1 complete Series & 1 book from another series. As this took weeks to read (it's huge), I'm not complaining!
I've accumulated 45 titles from Mr Monroe & this is only the second I've read. I don't know how he survives, but Mr Monroe gives away alot of his books, & most of the ones I've purchased were $2 or less.
I enjoyed the first series I read, so decided to give this mega sized box a try.
Ironically, my only complaint is it's too long!
Much of the set was still enjoyable, & quite unique. Mr Monroe has an academic religious background, & much of this features making the bible entertaining. My personal feelings about the bible is that it only has 2 major differences from "ancient mythology":
1. I find the bible really boring by comparison.
2. It's currently actually believed as being truthful by much of the Western World.
In this series, Mr Monroe makes biblical characters entertaining (no small feat!), adds quite a bit of Voodoo, & also adds Faeries, Vampires, Witches, & werewolves.
Cain, who killed his brother Able in the bible is a werewolf, Voodoo snake & highly qualified psychiatrist. Able comes back to life & they make up. And much, much more.
If you're prepared for a L O N G read that occasionally is a bit slow, I'd recommend this one. I've got to hit some more of those 45 titles!

Two Paranormal Series. 16 books That’s right. The first 6 books we read about Nyx - her entire series that leads into Cain, as in The Cain from biblical Cain and Abel - yes, THE Genesis Cain. His entire 9 books and then the first book of Hailey Bradbury our blood witch vampire; which concludes Cain. An eclectic yet symbiotic series sets that relate to one another yet hold their own. This is a great way to read the next book without separate purchase and I’ve read them all. Hooked on this The Shattered Gates Universe. But then you want to read the origin with The Fomorian Wyrmriders (dragons).

THe essence of heart and more.
Sixteen books full of epic adventures. These enchanting books are filled with non-stop paranormal action, magic, drama, intrigue and even a touch of romance. I'm honest when I say that unfortunately I haven't read them all yet. But what I read was great. Beautifully written. Each book was better than the last as the storylines became more and more intense. Once I started reading I could hardly put it down, unfortunately not until the end. But I'll keep going because I want to know the end. In any case, highly recommend these series.

This collection contains two complete urban fantasy series in one package. Each series consists of eight books, giving you a total of sixteen. The stories are well written and easy to read, but by no means boring. The settings are well developed with lots of details that provide new twists all the time. Similarly, the characters are well done with distinct personalities and often conflicting goals. Both series are full of action, intrigue and mystery. Overall, it was a lot of fun reading and comparing each series. I look forward to more from this author.

At last! 2 of my favorite TP series complete in one place! I am not a big fan of these collections, but the price is phenomenal for number of books included and these are 2 of his series. Cain (Yes, "that" Cain!) is the first series I read by this author. I love his take on the story, the first person POV, and the storyline. The NYX books are fun but horrifying at the same time. Both gave me a lot to think about and ran me through a rollercoaster of emotions.

He is an extremely prolific author, but still creates good structure, characters that you understand, and uses the worlds available to him well ('our' world plus something).
This anthology actually covers two series: Druid Legacy and Fomorian Wyrmriders (not common to get 2 for 1).
Good intro to his work, if you are new to Theophilius Monroe. For those who have been reading (but not happened on these titles yet) - a great addition to his catalogue.

There is two entirely different series in this boxed set. My favorite is bat shift crazy. It had the right amount of everything in it like werewolves, suspense and magic. Both series are magnificent in their own ways. I have never had so much fun and entertainment reading a series before. These definitely will not disappoint.

Two Complete Urban and Paranormal Series are included in this combination boxed set! The Legend of Nyx & The Vilokan Asylum of the Magically and Mentally Deranged. Each are awesome! As is Monroe! All are well written, beautifully detailed, and beyond imagination. Full of action, suspense, and drama. Fae, vampires, witches, & werewolves are just the tip of the iceberg. I look forward to more from this author.

This series was wonderfully written. Lots of well written characters that were well developed. They know who they are and what they should be doing. The world building for the series is excellent. Storylines for the series were exciting with action, drama, and a mix of humor just when needed. I would highly recommend these books. I received these as an ARC and this is my honest review.

I love bundles and I love all the series from this author. They are always full of action, romance and humorous snark. Nyx and Cain are among the list of great characters this author has created and their stories are all bundled here.
