OMG! This book—I don't know how to put everything I feel right now in a freaking review. But goddamn, this story is so amazing, and everything in it. 🥹😍😭
I want my own Oliver, please, can I have someone like him? 😂 I've never read a more green-flag fictional character than this one, and damn him for making me swoon and giddy for most of the book. According to him, he's the guy who loves love more than anything in the world, and I think his thirty-three proposals are a good example of that. 🤣 I honestly don't know how to feel about that in the beginning, because if I have to think about it, that only means thirty-three ex-girlfriends. He's a relationship type of guy, and he doesn't do ONS, but 33 is still way too much for me, but whatever, I eventually got over that fact.
Like I said, this man is the epitome of a green flag. He's patient, sweet, caring, thoughtful, and never afraid to give his love to the people he cares about. And when it comes to Izzy, istg, if she didn't take him, I would jump inside the book and make him mine instead. 😂 The patience and understanding he showed her all throughout this story was something I rarely see in romance. He respects her and never puts pressure on her.
He was even willing to be in the friendzone if this was the only way he could have her, and honestly, not a lot of guys would put up with that. While some may find that weak, I think it takes a great deal of self-control and strength to be a good friend to someone you truly want more from in life. But Oliver did it all in stride. Did he hope for Izzy to change her mind? Yes, absolutely. But even if he wants to become more than friends, he never makes her feel obligated or pressured. He just naturally became her person and her greatest friend.
If Oliver is the golden retriever, Izzy is the black cat, and I really enjoyed their combo. She doesn't believe in love and thinks it will only hurt in the end. Her ex-fiance cheated on her with her best friend, and on their wedding day, she saw them having smex in a bathroom. She told her mother she wasn't going to marry the asshole, but the unfeeling witch told her she had to get over it. But when she wouldn't do that, the witch made her tell the townsfolk that there would be no wedding happening, and she couldn't tell them the reason why. It was BS that she agreed to it, but then she was young, hurting, and didn't know any better. You see, Izzy came from a conservative small town. So when she ended the wedding, let's just say the people had a lot of nasty things to say to her, and that made her leave that place and never look back.
Anyway, she's the total opposite of Oliver, yet for some reason they perfectly work out fine. They had ONS when they met at a wedding (that's a first for Oliver), but even after a week, she still can't get him out of her head. And when Oliver got Izzy's address from her best friend, Hazel, he sent her all of her favorite things—flowers, coffee, and food. Initially, Izzy didn't want to do anything with it, but with each passing day, she realized that she'd been looking forward to what he was going to send. Oliver eventually managed to break beyond her walls, and she accepted his suggestion to get to know one another and become friends.
Amazing is not enough to describe how I feel about this story. I love Oliver and Izzy and everything about them. Izzy's head took a while to catch up with her heart, realizing that she had fallen in love with him as well. But when she finally admitted it, she was all in, and there's nothing more sweet than this moment.
I actually enjoyed the fact that Izzy was the one who proposed in Vegas, hence their Vegas wedding. She's also the one who said I love you first, and she was also the one who said that they give this marriage a real shot. Tbf, Oliver was all in from the get-go, but being the good man that he is, he never said anything but rather showed Izzy how good they could be together. But it was also enjoyable to see Izzy gradually overcome her fears and finally open up to Oliver.
I could say so many more positive things about this book, but I've already written a lengthy review. I wish I had read this sooner because it's just that amazing. 😭 This is definitely worth reading and recommending, and I hope other readers will give it a try 💖
