The breadth of knowledge in this fine book is impressive, as is the author, Jeff Patterson. After dedicating decades to mastering multiple martial arts, Jeff uses his focus and skill to clearly communicate what he has learned. He is an inspiration both to his readers and to those lucky enough to learn from him in person.
Mixed feeling about this book. It doesn't read like the author is writing to you. It feels more like a research and compile set of notes for different practices. There are 11 chapters in this book. Do not read it in order. You can pick and choose what you want a brief summary of. I respectfully doubt that Mr. Patterson has practiced everything mention. He does provide some resources at the end. Yielding is though something that we must practice and embrace in life when called upon for a higher good and sense of mind, body and spirit.
Sorry bud, but as soon as your karate school ad dispensed the worst advice for dealing with bullies I've ever heard, I concluded there was nothing in here of value to me
