Thieves have broken into the Federal Reserve and made off with millions in gold. The catch? They were dressed like leprechauns, and by all accounts, used magic to do it.
Cue up a fresh case for Sergeant Chloe Mayfield, but if she thought the last one was fraught with danger, she’s going to have to redefine her terminology. If it were not bad enough that she has to negotiate rogue gunmen, sword-wielding mercenaries, and a famous monster hunter, she has enemies within Boston PD to contend with, at least one of whom thinks their life would be easier if she were dead.
Worse yet, the vicious leprechauns she must investigate are determined to keep their newfound gold, no matter who gets in their way. Not out of greed, but because they have something far more sinister planned, and the gold heist was just the first step.
Chloe doesn’t know it yet, but the fate of the city and its residents are on the line. If she doesn’t figure things out in time, the results could be catastrophic.
A native Floridian whose resume includes everything from police officer to personal trainer, Justin Herzog fell in love with books from an early age and turned to writing as a career because anything else would have been unthinkable. He is married and currently lives with his wife in Orlando, Florida. They have one dog. He can reached at jherzogwriting@gmail.com or https://www.justinherzog.com
Love Chloe but can the author stop having everyone beat her up or get the upper hand on her 😕🙄🙄 geez This was a great one and it was nice to see the bad guys get their just due. The new character Robbie is a riot and I hope we see more of him.
When I read the summary for Book 2 at the end of Book 1, I was completely blown away! The Federal Reserve Bank!? Never mind the leprechauns, THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANK!!!???? One of the most secure bank systems (if not THE most secure bank systems) in the country??? I spent 30+ years working for the FDIC and have to several FRBs. Your description of the entry into the bank was spot on except for one thing. Adjacent to the metal detector is an X-Ray machine. All items you bring in have to go through the X-Ray while you go through the metal detector. You also didn't mention the secured one-way revolving door to get from the lobby area to the elevators. Maybe next time. I spoke with a friend and former co-worker of mine about the lower floors. 1. ALL gold deposited with the federal reserve is held in New York (Die Hard with a Vengeance got that right). 2. NO ONE is allowed on the vault floor. If money/gold needs to be transferred, it's by robot arms. NO people allowed. Just tips for the time you want to feature the FRB in a story.
Aside from that it was a good read. I've been a fan of Blue Moon ever since it started and am glad to it branch out. Please! Keep writing!!!
Massacre Site Review The second story in the Boston Blue Moon series. Chloe is still finding her feet at the Blue Moon office in the aftermath of her last case and her rogue colleague’s death , but when Kermit has to deal with an unruly nephew Topher’s desk doesn’t remain unused for very long . The team ( well Chloe) are called to a bizarre robbery at the Federal Reserve that it seems was pulled off by Leprechauns, hence the call …. Not the only interested party to track these Irish mascots down and having to obey the FBI orders to leave the robbery investigation to them , Chloe has enemies mounting right left and centre. This is a complex case and Chloe has to keep her wits sharp and her instincts sharper to stay alive. Joined by some unexpected allies. This truly is a great series for any Blue Moon fan ,it has dark thrilling cases patched with the dry humour you’ve come to expect. Well written , great characters. The background work top notch and the scenes set up to immerse you. I read an advance copy of this book and this review is my own words voluntary.
This story really had a ton of interesting characters. Several that if you read any of the original Blue Moon books you will recognize. The Swan sisters are very interesting and at first I thought they might be related to Poison from the original books, but these ladies are vicious and Ms. Poison isn’t. Then you have Vermont who if I had to deal with him would drive me nuts. I do like the addition of the FBI agent. Of course I love Chloe she is very smart and tough, I’m wondering if alt. Kermit is grooming her to take over his spot as leader of the group. I look forward to reading more of these books. Thank you for a great read.
Massacre Site by Justin Herzog and Steve Higgs keeps on surprising! Really! A heist involving leprechauns? And how do hamsters fit into the story? And just how does Blue Moon integrate with the Boston police department? I guess that you will have to read it to find out. I enjoyed the scenes throughout Boston and how they were adapted for the story. With the nonstop action, Chloe Mayfield has to work hard to keep up. Does she save the city and its residents, or does something bad happen? You have to read this story and find out!
Blue Moon Boston! The plot is intricate, the characters are great, and delightful to read
Having read the original Blue Moon series (to date) finding a new set across the pond in the US is fun! The style is a bit different, but nicely met by Justin Hretzog. Nice to have Big Ben in the wings and appearances by Basic and Hilary are awesome. If you have not tread the original Blue Moon please do so!
Sgt. Chloe Mayfield is back. Leprechauns have stolen gold from the Federal Reserve, and Blue Moon Boston is tasked with finding them and the gold. It seems like total chaos, but it sure was a good book. I loved it when some friends from England showed up. Made it more enjoyable. Another excellent book by Herzog and Hicks.
Another fantastic story where our Chloie gets physical with the bad boys and girls. She isn't eating right nor getting enough sleep but remarkably able to fight for her life and the others with her. It's very interesting how Chloie figures it out even when she becomes surprised at who is in charge of this caper. Can't wait to read the next book.
A ( sort of) disgraced cop finds herself relegated to an obscure and little known department in the BPD. She finds her calling and wants to rid her city of nefarious baddies. Quite a thrilling adventure ensues. A fun read full of paranormal (really?) action.
I wanted to love this book! Leprechauns and the Fed? But I couldn’t stop putting it down. Took 8 days to get halfway through before giving up. Unless you get paid by the word, and Steve Higgs never falls into that trap, edit for a cohesive, fast moving story that keeps my attention. How do the Swan Sisters tie in? Love the original Blue Moon series with Tempest and Amanda and Jane/James - those books fly through a tight plot that I can’t put down. I really wanted to love this book…
When leprechauns rob the Federal Reserve, what else is Chloe Mayfield supposed to do but jump in head first to serve her city…
I love how she is not invincible - in fact, she often gets the crap kicked out of her. She teams up with some new characters (that I think are crossovers from the original series?), and an FBI agent as well. And once again, I did not predict the ending.
I love Blue Moon series and this one is another keeper! Great characters and even friends from across the pond! This one was a great set up and ending!! Cannot wait for the next one!
A heist, a gang of leprechauns, two ballerinas in swan costumes with swords and some interesting visitors from the original Blue Moon Investigations series make this a fascinating and exciting rea.
Great story! With all the hype of a Federal Reserve Bank heist, this one is an all around great read. Suspend reality and just enjoy the ride! Fast paced, edge of your seat story!
So convoluted and a blemish on the Blue Moon series’ name. Main character is horribly written. One minute shes an officer who just barely gets promoted and the next she’s acting like she is an experienced military veteran but shes an idiot. Not to mention the author has no right to write about Boston. Sounds like maybe he spent a weekend in the city 20 years ago.
