Jacob's Trouble by Steven Martin

Rate this book
Their prophets of old speak to modern Israel and Jews of Today. Jacob's Trouble by Steven Martin is an analysis of the time to come as told by Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jona, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zechariah, and Malachi. This period is often called “end times” and is a continuing subject of interest by a vocal minority of Christian ministers and theologians. But the end times mostly concern Jews, not Christians. By the time Jacob’s Trouble comes, the Christians are gone, taken away in what is called the rapture. This would include Messianic Jews, those who believe Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. When Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Joel, and Micah wrote about the end times, they were prophesizing about their own people. The proof that the time of Jacob’s Trouble is true is that prophecies of Jeremiah, Isaiah, and most notably Daniel have already come true. Whether one believes Jesus is the Jewish Messiah or not, He correctly prophesied that the Jewish temple would be torn down which happened in 70 AD. Accordingly, what He said about Jacob's Trouble is included, as well as the New Testament book of Revelation. Jeremiah prophesied the Jews could return to Israel after 70 years in Babylon, and Isaiah prophesied that a man named Cyrus would allow them to do it. Daniel prophesied about the takeover of Babylon by the Medes-Persians, to be conquered by the Greeks, who in turn would be conquered by the Romans. All this is history to us, but were future events to these Jewish prophets. There is one more consideration as well. We have the Jews among us as living proof. They still celebrate Passover and Hanukkah, and mourn for Jephthah’s Daughter. The Jewish prophets and their prophecies are as real as Israel and the Jewish people today. The Jewish prophets wrote to and about Jews. Jacob’s Trouble has yet to occur. Zechariah wrote that two-thirds of the Jews would be killed, 13:8-9. Israel and Jews worldwide should understand and prepare.
