Contains over 250 photographs of small gardens. It presents advice on initial planning and choices, ways of exploiting the space, and suggestions for evoking a particular atmosphere.
Refreshingly really does deal with gardening in small (more often than not) urban spaces - and for onace presented with an awareness of how "small" a small garden in an urban area like London can be.
Takes a different approach in that the book is presented in sections about: choice, illusion, atmosphere and a guide to plants suitable for small gardens. Lots of snapshots of parts of gardens providing good ideas which can be adapted.
Practicalities section gives some small garden plans and lists of plants for special purposes.
I enjoyed this book. It had some very practical and creative design ideas for small gardens and courtyards. The only drawback is that it is a Northern hemisphere publication so all the seasonal p,anting advice is out of whack for Australia.
