It must be terrifying to live in Flynn’s mind. The absolutely twisted stories she comes up with are difficult to guess even when you read lots of horror and thrillers. In this one, in particular, the biggest issue with it was that the mercy killer was barely spoken about so it feels like it comes out of nowhere and is almost too easy of a solution. If it was mentioned more than once before the ending even just tangentially it wouldn’t feel like as much of a cop out. I also have a hard time with animal mutilation and the chapter with Ben, Trey, and Diondra committing their sacrifice was a bit much for me. Otherwise, this was a really satisfying “beach read” of a thriller.

I kept reading it to find out if the murders were solved. They were with a few twists. In my mind, all the animal deaths were a bit over the top. I would only recommend this book to certain people, not everyone.
I’d give it more like 2.75 ⭐️ It wasn’t that this book wasn’t good, it just wasn’t for me. Reallyyyyyyy slow to get into, almost DNF’d but listened to some of the audiobook to help me get through it. Just don’t think this type of book is something I’m into.
