A therapist wrote in an afterward, “This narrative…is difficult to read. The events described are unspeakable. The anguish of the victims, the horror of the crime, the utter naïveté of those who were aware of the problem and could have intervened, are incomprehensible.” (Carol Cannon, M.A.) I agree. I didn’t enjoy the writing at the beginning when the writer was setting the stage because I am used to excellent professional writers. But the story drew me in as I continued reading, and it had the ring of truth even though the story was fictionalized. The book contains very important information. Though it was written in 1993, and things are much better with the legal system and with many churches, the book was worth my time and educated me on many aspects of the issue.
