This book provides a sufficient survey of the major interactions between the Mojave nation and early Western explorers through the Mojave Desert. I walked away from this book with a better understanding of the Mojave Nation timeline from first-contact with the Spanish up to the battle at Fort Mohave in 1859. I was disappointed that this is less of an anthropological study, and more of a compilation of primary sources with some exposition provided by the writers. Additionally, the book lacks a conclusion and just sort of "ends".
