Dangerous Refuge is filled with plenty of suspense, danger, love, healing, questioning loyalty, twists and turns and a colorful cast of characters, leaving the reader breathless and enthralled. It is my first book by this author but it certainly won't be the last.
Allie is on the run with her son from her abusive ex. Her only goal is to protect herself and her son. Enters Sven, who believes he can protect both of them. There is a catch: she needs to marry him. From this point things take another unpredictable turn. The mystery and suspense flowing through their love story add another layer to their development and relationship. The more time they spend together the stronger their connection becomes. Both Allie and Sven are flawed and complex. They challenge each other and make each other better. They shouldn’t work, because they are opposites in every way, yet they absolutely do. Furthermore, it's no wonder why Sven is so drawn to Allie's pure heart, innocence and her light. I found his connection with her son very beautiful. Sven is protective of both of them. On the outside Sven looks aloof and dangerous, but on the inside he is a softie for Allie, fiercely protective, possessive and obsessive. He is enamored with her from the beginning and knows he wants her. Between them existed unique connection, pull and chemistry, no matter how much they tried to deny it. Author delivered an intense, forbidden, deliciously sexy and gripping love story.
I completely adored this unique storyline, real characters and a build-up. I inhaled the pages and didn’t want it to end. It was sexy, suspenseful, intense, an emotional rollercoaster, poignant and mesmerizing. Don't miss this story.

Part of the Corrupt Bloodlines each can be read as a standalone but connect through the brothers finding the one that makes them want to be something more for someone else so hang on and double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love (ALL THINGS TO EXPECT FROM THE MAFIA WORLD). By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter! CAN’T SAY YOU WEREN’T WARNED!!! Sven sexy as all get out brother to Dominic the next Pakhan with his job comes all kinds of dangers, he is ruthless most days, deadly every day, and steps in when he sees a threat often times against innocent. Allie is a sweetheart in a bad situation running from a dangerous ex trying to keep her boy, herself safe, working as a waitress when a customer gives her a hard time which is happens on a usual day but on this day a sexy as all get guys steps in saving her surprising her more than anything since she is use to being hurt by men not saved. The attraction is there but her main goal overrides of keeping her son and herself safe although that doesn’t stop a determined ex. because when he finds her yep her night in shining armor saves her again but this time he has an offer that may just save her marriage protection with his name and it works for a while until she find out who he really is and of course she run but when she does it right into trouble but will her husband save her in time, will understand her feeling at that point, will she know the difference between what her ex was, what her husband is, will she know that what her husband is real will never hurt her or her boy, will she have realized it too late, and can she find some much needed happiness?

I finished it at least
I almost didn’t finish this book. Neither Allie nor Sven seemed to capture my attention too much at any point in this story. The main problem I have is that these two characters were not very well fleshed out. They also did not seem to grow as individuals or as a couple.
Allie is running from an abuser with her son but she refuses to take advantage of shelters or abused women’s resources to help her. It’s like she knows nothing about them in all her years of running. She has a close friend who knows all about her abuse and said friend doesn’t give her any advice on getting outside help either. She tries to be a sympathetic character but to me, she looks and sounds way too arrogant about being the only one who knows what she’s doing.
Sven is a Bratva hitman but he has no impulse control and loses his temper easily. Um, those are huge problems for a job that requires a lot of patience and planning. Not to mention when he did end up having to use a gun to defend his warehouse, in a fit of temper he ended up shooting some of his own people? Well I wouldn’t want to work for someone who can’t even tell who is loyal to him and who is not. He’s the worst hitman ever.
The entire story felt odd, like these two people had very little chemistry, at least nothing more than sex. It felt like she ended up with him and not her ex because he won a fight. The ending was a bit unresolved too. Like he never tells her he loves her but she just “knows it” and just accepts it as good enough. He still has a temper and no impulse control. And even tho this is an arranged marriage, they still haven’t married by the end of the book. It just feels unfinished.
I gave two stars for Rico, her kid and Odin the dog because the few times they were part of the story, they were both endearing. And those were very few times. I think they could’ve been more fleshed out.

What I liked- Grammar and spelling were correct. And Sven’s heart, though hard to find, is in the right place.
What I didn’t- I just wasn’t impressed by the book. The erotic scenes were odd and not very erotic. The sex was sometimes transactional, which doesn’t help make it hot. The rest of the time, zexytime made the brains disappear from their heads. And afterwards, it was often weird and gross. The heroine’s son, Rico, spent almost all of his time playing video games unsupervised because the heroine was either a) too busy getting down with Sven or b) too busy trying to sneak off and work at the diner. Rico, though supposedly the reason she’s doing all of this, doesn’t seem to be much of a priority. And both Sven and Allie have issues with impulse control and communication. They could both be irritating. And the bad guys killed off the only adult character that I found interesting.
Verdict- I can’t recommend this book.

This is the 2nd story in the Corrupt Bloodlines Series where we get Sven’s journey of finding love who we meet in the previous story. Being part of the Russian mob Sven and his brothers grew up around danger, killing, enemies and power. Sven knows his job is to support his brother Dominic the next Pakhan especially with the threat to take him out. Allie is a single mother hiding from her ex having moved around several times and his dangerous threats to her and her son, Rico. While Allie is waitressing in a diner Sven has an unexplained connection to Allie. Being the alpha man he is Sven steps in when Allie has a horrible experience with some customers. Later when Allie finds herself in a confrontation with her ex, Sven is there to protect her. The ex is persistent and continues to cause trouble so Sven offers Allie protection for marrying him. These two are amazing together and Sven finds himself enjoying have Rico and Allie living in his home. When Allie learns the truth about Sven she closes down and leaves him but her heart stays. Sven is broken by Allie and Rico leaving buy honors her wishes so when trouble has taken Allie Sven proves that his family connections will help him do the right thing. When all is said and done Sven, Allie and Rico are given a second chance after healing from secrets and a painfully emotional ending! Wow, I was absolutely astounded while reading this book, the story had me mesmerised the story pulled me in from the start and the characters was so captivating I just couldn't get enough. This story was about Allie her son Rico and Sven, Sven's father is the Pakhan for the Bratva but the health is deteriorating so Dominic the oldest brother will take over as Pakhan. Sven goes to a diner and noticed Allie straight away, he noticed she was been told off from a customer he jumps in to help. He started to watch her from a distance and noticed a man grabbing her telling her off. Allie has been on the run moved her and her son many times, she wanted to thank him for helping the other day twice, for some reason she opened up to him she felt good about it. The next day he went and spoke to her with a proposal so Allie and Rico were safe, for the first time with her and her son being safe ment no need to be on the run. This was a hot and steamy, intense, passion, Bratva, betrayal, lies, secrets, anger, pain, arrogance, healing, action, danger, killings, kidnapping, enemies and lots more emotions throughout this book.

A complete & utter page turner, the suspense literally gripped me throughout the entire book. I've fallen totally and in love with the MMC, Sven, and adore how over protective he is over Allie, he’s dangerous, but that’s the way I like my fictional men 🖤 I love how Lydia Hall writes, this is the first book I’ve read by her, but the way this was written made me feel like I couldn’t look away, every single page was perfection. If you’re into major spice in your books & fancy an action packed suspenseful read, this is 100% the one for you!

This book is suspenseful, a page turning, emotional and enemies to lovers' book that will bring tears to your eyes but warms your heart at the same time. Allie and her son Rico are running from her abusive ex Paul. When Allie meets Sven, he offers to protect her if she agrees to marry him. She does at first but then things change and Allie leaves Sven's home. This is when the book starts to become even more suspenseful and heart pounding. This book is a great read that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys romance and suspense all wrapped up perfectly.

Wow, talk about intense, drama, domestic abuse/ violence, mafia connections and a potential romantic interest. A woman who is trying to stay away from her child’s abusive ex, finds someone who is trying to be there for her. Unknowingly the danger waiting for her and her son, or to what extent her ex will go to. Awesome story.

Sven was drawn to Allie at first sight, coming to her aid when her Ex shows up again, he knows he can do more to protect her if she was married to him. But can they become something real between them? What happens when Allie learns the real type of man he is and what he's done well written engaging steamy, desires, action dark themes and more a great addition to the series.

Its fine
The book in general is fine. However, it’s pretty boring by starting as if we all know what’s going on and all of a sudden she is moving in with him not even half way into the back or knowing him. It’s boring. No chase. No story. Just hey. Hey. Move in with me? Ok!

Probably should’ve DNFed. I did not see a romantic relationship between the mcs and didn’t really want them to be together. Fmc claimed to be doing all of it to protect her son but then immediately moved him in with a man she didn’t know at all (she didn’t even know his last name like wtf) and barely payed attention to him throughout the book except when necessary for the plot. 👎🏻👎🏻
