Ugh, Arden. My roommate. The perpetual headache with a smile that could melt steel and habits capable of driving a saint to madness. Here I am, knee-deep in nursing textbooks, trying to juggle school and night shifts at the hospital, while he swans in at dawn after his latest conquest. The worst? He steals my favorite snacks—the ones that keep me sane through my all-nighters.
But no matter how much I pretend to ignore his half-charming, half-infuriating ways, I can't deny there's a spark. A dangerous little thing that flares up when we're toe-to-toe. We both know there's a line in our cozy little apartment. But one night, everything changes over a stupid video game bet that sets off a chain of events that turns games into reality.
So here I am, living with the guy who’s the epitome of every no-strings-attached romance, wondering if I’m ready to gamble it all on us. They say don't mix love and living space—but they’ve never seen Arden waltz around in his gray sweatpants and no shirt on. You try.
ROOMMATES is a 12K novella that was part of the LOVE NOT WAR anthology in 2022. ♡ forced proximity ♡ roommates ♡ opposites attract ♡ short & spicy
Hazel Grace is an avid music lover, an undefined human being, and hardcore Oakland Raiders fan from the mitten state of Michigan. Always surprising her readers with weird Michigan sayings (they have their own cuss words) and writing "what the f*ck" storylines. When she's not writing, she's on Spotify finding new bands, working on her Camaro or watching shows with her kids with annoying songs attached to them.
Arden is a bit of a horn dog, a new one-night-stand most days of the week. He and Frankie are roommates - they bicker, but they generally get along. However, proximity is resulting in feelings; Frankie has always acknowledged that she thinks Arden is hot, while Arden is suddenly feeling possessive of her. I really enjoyed this off-kilter little story - their banter is a hoot and when they come together, it completely explosive. They’re a bit bonkers, but in the best way possible. A great quick read.
Well that was a ride! There’s spice on page one and you’re also laughing at a cute hedgehog named Quilliam. Frankie and Arden have been roomies for 2 years (off page) so tension on both sides has been built up. Love the banter and teasing. Spice was spicing for such a quick read. I’ll definitely read more by this author.
Frankie and Arden have been roomies for years. Arden always has a different girl over all the time and Frankie is an eye roll away from calling him out on his manhoeness.
Arden has wanted Frankie for years yet neither didn’t want to mess up their friendship. He has fallen fast, yet Frankie is oblivious to his wants because he doesn’t show it when he’s parading girls around left and right, yet she becomes a mess around him because says she can’t fight the pull of gravity between them.
They play video games together, he likes to eat all her snacks just to tick her off, she wants to binge sitcoms, but one dirty sentence (or a few) from Arden and she’s melting.
I loved how he knows she’s the one for him and that he doesn’t just want a “hit it and quit it” moment with her. He wants her to know she would be his whole world and when that wall between her resistance and him comes down, she knows he’ll have her heart as well.
