Searching for gods isn't easy, especially when they don't want to be found.

A quiet life is what Hathor deserves now that fewer people remember her name. But when another goddess enlists her to the fight against spreading chaos, she finds herself out in the world for the first time in thousands of years.

Finding the other gods turns out to be the least of her worries. Somehow, she has to convince them to actually help her, and that's not as easy as she'd hoped.

Hathor's Quest is the first book in the Consorts of the Goddess Trilogy and is based on Ancient Egyptian Mythology.

Quest Of The Goddess is the first book in the Queen Of Gods Trilogy and is one of my new favourites from Laura Greenwood’s books based on Ancient Egyptian Mythology.

Hathor is the Goddess of many things, which I found intriguing. The story is creative and beautifully written, and my interest was captured right from the first line and wanted to know all about Hathor’s story.

I can’t wait to read more in this series.

This was an interesting start to Hathor’s journey. I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t caught up in the story the way I have been with some of the others. Perhaps it’s because this represents the opening scenes in the part she’s meant to play in the battle against Chaos and there will be more impactful moments to come. The little bit of a cliffhanger this closes on has definitely left me wanting to know more.

Quest of the Goddess by Laura Greenwood is a witty paranormal fantasy where Egyptian goddess Hathor is pulled from peaceful seclusion to rally the gods against chaos. With sharp humor, a slow-burn romance, and modern mythological twists, it’s a fun, fast-paced read perfect for fans of light fantasy with strong heroines.

Greenwood given some wonderful quirky stories over the years that I have enjoyed. It's no surprise to see her writing about the Egyptian Gods and Goddess.

I must admit this was history lesson as I didn't know about the two she used for this story. Whilst she take liberties for her universe , I love the concept of this series. They are all real characters from history brought to life by Greenwood.

The plot of the story is interesting, there seems to be an uprising and Hathor is thrown into the spotlight because of her past relationships. Hathor is willing but things are crazy and this adventure sees her trying to recruiter.
Hathor as a character seems grounded. She isn't easily dismissed and her attitude rivals the Gods she has to deal with. Amun was the balance she need and I will be interested to see how their relationship progresses in the next two books

I found the first point of view of this book hard to follow at times. It would have been easier if Hathor’s character had been more interested in the things around her. She also seemed very fixated on the myths of her relationships and this comes out in many places as the book goes forward. I will admit that I don’t know a lot about the Egyptian God pantheon and this book did make me want to look into it more closely.
The story was very choppy in how the story develops. I got to chapter 8 and still was confused as to why Hathor would care at all about what humans assume about her, the belief that Horus is her son which according to this is not the case. Also I was unsure why any of the Gods would care as to what Seth was up to as they are not in “control” of things the way that they once were. It is pointed out by Hathor later that Seth is always trying to stir up chaos so it is hard to see why this time is more important that any of the others.
When Ma’at first comes to Hathor and tells her of the problem with Seth it seemed like it was assumed the reader would know why this was an issue. I don’t know enough about the Egyptian gods to know exactly why this would be a problem. Also it is made clear that Hathor has been hiding herself away from the world for at least 1,000 years, yet she has dedicated temples and those who instantly know her, which just seems odd to me as a reader.
The part of the book where Amun is showing Hathor who she really is, is quite touching. As a goddess she should feel powerful and above many things, but she wasn’t above crying and feeling hurt by someone being cruel to her. It was a moment of weakness and strength for the character that helped to develop her more as a character as well as set up the possibility of a relationship between her and Amun.
The dialogue that the author uses is actually quite good in places. I can see from Hathor’s point of view how she relates to others and sees how they relate to her. It is one of those that I am not sure was best written from a first person point of view, but as Hathor is a goddess I can see why it would be her point of view.
The interpersonal relationships of the gods with each other is interesting to think about. As with any set of multi-gods they all have their own imagery or things that they are known for, some better than others. Hathor being the goddess of sexuality and beauty comes out a lot in the story as if it should have some effect on the outcome of the situations that they are in.
Overall I liked the book. It is part of a trilogy, so I will have to consider reading further when I have time. I also think that I need to look at the Egyptian gods again to refresh myself in their inner workings and mythos.

Life has been quiet for ancient Egyptian goddess Hathor for a few thousand years. Since she is the goddess of many things, people don’t know what to pray for to her and she has mostly been forgotten, which suits her just fine. Then one day Ma’at, the goddess of justice, came to see her. They were having issues with the rogue god Seth, and chaos in the world seemed to be giving him more power this time. The gods and goddesses pretty much ignored it… until now, apparently.

Ma’at asked her to join their cause and she declined. If Seth got too bad, they all knew Osiris would go talk to him, and then he would calm down and go back to plotting for the next two thousand years. That’s what always happened, so why get upset? Hathor preferred to stay impartial. But this time, Ma’at told her that Seth had Mafdet’s support (god of justice) and Ma’at needed Amun’s support to balance that and encourage more of the “fence-sitters” to join them. Or she said if Hathor couldn’t persuade him, then Horus would do.

And Ma’at knew Hathor would help if she realized this would protect the mortals. Besides, it would affect Hathor in a bad way if the world really did fall into Seth’s hands since he would destroy all of the temples and carvings that depicted gods and goddesses who hadn’t supported him, leaving them all powerless. Since Hathor had just been inadvertently committed to this cause despite her resistance, Ma’at asked her to persuade Atum and Khonsu too! It looked like she was going to have to bring together her four consorts to fight on Ma’at’s side against Seth’s chaos! But some of them are very stubborn. Her task will not be easy. She’ll be out in the world for the first time in thousands of years, and she still will have to find her consorts and get their commitment too! But maybe the slow burn romance that starts to sizzle between Hathor and Amun will make it a worthwhile endeavor! Is she ready to do all she can for the cause?

Ever since I was a child I've been fascinated with the Roman and Greek mythology and Gods. I loved the stories, no matter how brutal and sickening, and I loved how somehow all those Gods seemed to be human. At some point I wanted to dive into the Egyptian mythology too, but it somehow never really happened. It's hard to say why not. So, when I saw that Greenwood had an Egyptian Gods series, I just had to check it out!

You can't go wrong with a Laura Greenwood. Although this is certainly not one of the best books she has ever written, it's still entertaining and amusing and most of all quite short. I read this in the one hour between my alarm and actually having to get out of bed. That's mostly because the plot is quite simple and quite to the point. Our goddess has to convince the four guys everyone else sees as her consorts to fight on their sight of a conflict.

In a way I think that the plot was a little too simple. Of course, there are a couple of Gods who say no when she asks them politely, but it wasn't that hard to convince them in the end. I would have loved to see more of a challenge, where our heroine really needed to be smart to do and say the right thing to get what she wants. It would have made her more than a tool to another God. However, the cliffhanger makes up for quite a lot and I hope this means that the next book is gonna be more interesting.

Especially because the characters have potential. I like the concept of the Gods being good at whatever people believe they're good at. It makes them dependent on their followers and admirers. I also like how our heroine has clearly grown bored over the years, but therefore also distanced herself from everything around her. She's not very observing, but slowly she starts to see that the world is more complicated then she thinks it is. I'm quite curious to see what kind of person she will grow into!

Surprisingly Funny Quest

I have enjoyed most of the books I have read by Ms. Greenwood, but I found myself particularly amused by this book. The description makes it sound serious—and the threat to the book’s world is—but the author has imbued this book with an incredible amount of dry, tongue-in-cheek wit. I found myself laughing at things Hathor thought and the conversations she had with the men on her quest. She didn't have as good of a relationship with people as she might have thought, though I don’t think she really cared. The setup of this appears to be the classic fight of good versus evil, cast in terms of justice (Ma’at, who sends Hathor on the quest) and chaos (Set, called Seth here). I'm happy the author included a list of the Egyptian gods and goddesses—including what they were known for and family ties—as well as a few Egyptian words. The character list helped me frame the book, as my knowledge of the Egyptian pantheon is a little rusty. This is not a complete book in itself but is the first part of what will probably shape up to be a funny and epic battle between the Egyptian gods. This book was a lot of fun, and I look forward to the next.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Hathor has gotten bored although she’s loath to admit it. Since people have stopped believing in the gods she’s had not much to do, this changes one day when Ma’at comes to her part of the temple complex and asks for a favor. Seth is plotting again and Ma’at asks Hathor to bring her consorts into the fold. Hathor is irritated and intrigued in likely equal measure. As none of the four gods has ever truly been her consort just something that people assumed of them. Nonetheless she’s sets off on her reluctant mission to find Horus, Khonsu, Atum and Amun. Soon after she starts one of her temple is desecrated by Seth and so her reluctance turns to resolve. Seth must be stopped for the good of all and so she finds these men and sets on bringing them in.
Fictionalized history with a hint of romance. I loved the first part of this trilogy about Hathor and her not consorts. This ends on a cliffhanger as it is book one of three and it’s a bit heartbreaking and infuriating for Hathor. As a huge fan of anything that involves Ancient Egypt be it fiction or non fiction this book was a winner for me. Even if you’re not necessarily into the topic the plotting and nuances of the characters makes for a fascinating story and this is just the beginning. I am eager to see what is next in Hathor’s story.
I received an ARC of this book. This is my honest review.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Quest of the Goddess by Laura Greenwood is the first book in The Queen of Gods trilogy. I loved this story. I am a big fan of mythology and this Egyptian mythology storyline was right up my alley! We are presented the Gods and Goddesses at a turning point in their existence. No longer as revered and sought out as the true deities, their magic is dwindling and dissent threatens to split them into factions. Hathor is charged with finding four Gods, thought to be her consorts, and talking them into joining Ma'at's side to fight against Seth (Set). This is more than a good vs evil (or in this case Justice vs Chaos) fight and Hathor is about to be plunged right into the middle of it. A fun read with familiar Gods and Goddesses that are wonderfully flawed and emotionally disinterested... until they aren't. There is no resolution in this book, there is a magnificent set-up for the next book Trust Of The Goddess.

This honest and voluntary review was made possible by reading a copy through Booksprout.

*Spoiler Alert*
With a war brewing caused by the God Seth the Goddess Hathor (FMC) gets involved and entrusted with a nearly impossible task. To get the help of four gods. Not as easy as it sounds. A stubborn, argumentative - Horus is a particularly tricky god & the Atum was not only unhelpful but down right rude. I loved Khonsu though. Hes witty and funny. I havent made my mind up about Amun yet. Less so after that ending? I love books about Gods and Goddesses but usually the greek ones. This is the first book ive read about Egyptian ones and im pretty impressed. I really liked Hathor. She seemed to genuinely care and was pretty level headed especially with what she was tasked to do. To change the minds of difficult gods. After that cliffhanger ending i cant wait to get my hands on book 2 to see what happens next. A great read

Hathor has quite a feat in front of her courtesy of Ma’at, when she has to approach men who do not like her for help saving the world in Quest of the Goddess. Laura Greenwood definitely brings out the comedy for this book as Hathor goes head to head with a God who may or may not be her son. (laugh)

Hathor’s reputation precedes her unfortunately in all of these meetings. Her temper is apparently something that no one knew about (laugh). People also apparently were missing some of key information regarding who she has slept with and who she has not. Too freaking funny and unfortunately a lot like real life are the results of stories told by others.

Hathor’s story continues after she is slammed with a betrayal in this book. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

The Gods are choosing sides. The God Seth is trying to take over and is gaining more power. Hathor has been asked to get four powerful Gods on the side against Seth, and it is an uphill battle. Most of these Gods haven’t done anything in thousands of years, and now that humans don’t believe in them or pray to them, they have lost some of their power. Hathor is the Goddess of love, motherhood, dance, and several other powers, but she hasn’t had a lover in years. One of the Gods she needs to recruit wants her and she is intrigued. But what will happen when she finds out he is using her and has lied. He is the enemy and has aligned with Seth? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

Our heroine is a goddess of Ancient Egypt, called upon for a new task after many years away. Adjusting to new things is not always easy.

This is book one of the series.

This is a rather intriguing paranormal story based around the pantheon of Egyptian gods. That alone was enough to get my attention as I enjoy reading more with that background. It also helps that the story is well written, easy to read and filled with bits of humor that help keep things light and entertaining. I really enjoyed our heroine and the story overall and am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

Highly recommended

Hathor's story-arc begins in this book, and will continue in the next two books. Hathor is a powerful Egyptian goddess of many things, including love and dance. We follow her on a journey to find new friends and reunite with old gods in order to help sway them to the side of the Karnak gods and goddesses in the fight against Seth, God of Chaos. Hathor is a strong woman who knows who she is and what she stands for, and is a good choice to send on this task. Throughout this book she meets up with Khonsu, Horus, Amun, and Atum, not all of who will choose to join their cause. It was nice to see so many gods and goddesses mentioned in this book that we've seen previously in the series. I read this on Kobo Plus.

Hathor was approached by Ma'at about what Seth is up to. She asked for Hathor's help in gathering forces against him. Hathor has to get her consorts on their side of this problem. Hathor isn't sure who to go about it, it won't be easy with some of them. Seth has also destroyed on her temples.
Hathor will have some issues with getting the help she needs. She has one person on her side, she will need to work on getting the others.

This is a good read to lose yourself in for a time. You will enjoy the Egyptian mythology as well.

Forgotten Gods: The Queen of Gods #1

Hathor is enjoying a quiet life with less people remembering her name but she’s visited by Ma’at asking for her help in recruiting 4 gods to help in fighting against Seth and chaos. Her problem is that before she can persuade them to help, she has to find them.

I really enjoyed this boom which is a side series connected to the “Forgotten Gods” series. The characters are well written with a light romance throughout the book. It’s interesting to read about the different elements of Egyptian culture and mythology and I can’t wait to read more in this series.

I have to admit that the cliffhanger ending came as an unpleasant shock, but I guess I didn't read carefully enough when deciding to read this book. The other books in this world were all standalone in terms of the romance, so I wasn't expecting it to end without wrapping that up. Everything else was excellent. I loved Hathor and her interactions with everyone. I'm eager to read the rest of the story in the upcoming books.

Ma'at requests Hathor's assistance in enlisting Khonsu, Amun, Atun, and Horus to aid in quelling Seth's increasing power to dominate the world. It is unlikely that any of the other gods or goddesses desire constant chaos. When Hathor encounters Amun, she feels a strong attraction towards him and desires a relationship, but she becomes aware of the possibility that Amun may have ulterior motives. This quick read includes romance and petty squabbles, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

Hathor Book 1 Trilogy.
What an interesting story! Hathor debuts with a coerced task from Ma’at. It seems to be Ma’at status quo for securing allegiance with other gods. We learn the behind the scenes into her thoughts and what her feelings bout some of the aspects she embodies. Very interesting. Her mission to secure four gods to Team Ma’at had led to one major plot twist. The fact that Hathor is starting to feel affection and not just lust with Amun proves quite a dilemma when she learns something about her crush.

This book took me away to another world as soon as I started reading. It moves along at a great pace, making the perfect speed for reading. Has amazing and unique characters that you want to know about and want to see them overcome everything in their way. This story is a must read and no matter what once you start you cannot put it down. This book will grab you and needs to be read. No doubt about it.

Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses must combine forces to combat a rogue chaos god. Unfortunately, not all of them want to participate. It is up to one Goddess to unite her four consorts in order to combat the unruly God and save their people. She is only what she is believed to be. This was a pretty good read and I enjoyed it. I would recommend it.

I read a variety of genres but I am an old-world mythology geek. This adventure with Hathor is right up my alley. An old god who no longer has any followers who have been recruited to contact other old gods in order to save the world. The mystery and intrigue of whom she's slept with if one of them was her son, and does she REALLY have a temper when provoked? All this to confront an unruly God. What a great read I thoroughly enjoyed.

Quest of the Goddess is book one in The Queen of Gods Trilogy and I loved the characters, their interactions and the banter between them. This was a fun and interesting book to read. It sets up the series beautifully as the common gods and goddesses of mythology are alive and well but with a bit of a problem building being caused by Seth. I liked the simple plot of good vs evil but with very interesting characters. The story easily sucked me in and I had to see what Hathor and the rest would do. The setup was entertaining and kept me reading. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

With this new trilogy, we get to delve into Egyptian mythology and since this was not something I was really familiar with I found everything quite interesting, especially the names! Lots of action, deception, godly intrigue, and a history lesson presented in a way that we all wish we could have gotten it when we were back in school! lol! Hang on because we are in for a wild ride!!

I love reading about the Gods and Goddesses. Hathor is a wonderful character and in her quest to form an alliance of the Gods to battle Seth's chaos, her determination to complete her quest and save the world is apparent. I loved the new friendships she forged and the betrayal she faced broke my heart for her. I mean she's kept to herself and not let anyone close for years and she finally begins to consider a relationship and it doesn't work the way she hoped.
