Holy forking shirt friends. This is a debut novel you DO NOT WANT TO MISS! Without giving too much away the book opens with one of the seven Fates telling the reader The Fable of the Fates. We then meet one of Deaths favorite Oracles, Finian and then our story truly begins. I swear to you I am still in a glass cage of emotions over this debut novel. Was it spicy? Oooooh yes little sinner it was! What about amazing world and character building? Yes and yes! I swear to you I felt like I was literally in Epina and watching all of this fable play out in front of me.

The characters are so well written and planned out too. Don't even get me started on some of the little hints and twists Charli has put in her book...only ONE of which I've been able to figure out so far! This has my Sherlockian heart hurt because usually I am so good at figuring out these things. Will I need my own copy when it's released on December 20, 2023? Yes, yes I will. I'm already eager for book two and it's still being written! Honestly you should add it to your tbr and preorder it right now. There are a number of trigger warnings so be sure to look at those before reading.

My thanks to Charli for the arc!

What would happen if the Oracle crossed paths with the Oracle hunter? 👀

The story involves the seven Fates, Oracles and many amazing characters with multiple POV's which kept me totally hooked! Chemistry between the main characters is unmatched from the start and I couldn't get enough.

I was proud of Arabella from her first chapter, really she's my girl and I will never stop rooting for her! Also, one of my favorites is Ophelia, who is such a badass character with touching storyline. All the other characters are already my best friends and it feels like I have known them forever!

The character building was effortless and the storyline was super interesting! There was also the bigger plotline but room for character development which I adored. Also, I cried during the book a few times which proves how moving it really is.

Charli, I'm very honored and thankful to be part of your ARC team. Also, I'm incredibly excited for you and can't wait to see this releasing soon! Wishing you all the best for writing the next book. I can't wait to return to Epinia soon! ❤️

“Hello Little Sinner”

What can I say about this debut novel? Words tend to escape me because there’s so much but then again not enough I can say.

In The Oracles Dream, we meet the Fates. They form the paths that people take daily. There’s no changing fate, unless you try hard enough. 😉

Finian Atropos is our morally grey MMC. Stunning white hair, multicolored eyes (one white, one yellow), and has a penchant for blood and making music: aka, making his victims sing. His character development throughout has been a pleasant read. We see that he’s more than just Death’s Oracle. He has deep emotions and when he falls, he falls hard (over a tree branch). The way he is with Arabella is swoon worthy.

On that note Arabella Ortiz! She’s a badass serial killer, looking for the Oracle that killed her father. She has no problem doing what she needs to get the information she needs. When first meeting Fin, she’s blown away by her instant attraction. No! He’s an Oracle and Oracles are bad, right? Nah. She falls just as hard and their relationship is wonderful.

The side characters are all cool. Ophelia is a Death God who gets revenge. It was pleasant to watch. Myla and Darian… well they’re complicated (let’s just say they pissed off the wrong person) and I’m interested in seeing what happens next!

THEN we have the tear jerkers. Crying because of a book tells me just how invested I am in the story and how much heart and soul the author has put into it.

I’m excited for book 2. The Oracles Dream is an amazing debut and I see great things coming from Charli!

The oracles dream is a complex modern fantasy woven between the human world and the realm of the gods and their fates.

It’s a Spicy enemies to lovers with a badass strong anti-heroine who will hold a dagger to your throat and you will like it!

Although this is Finnian’s story ( The Morpheus / Spike / High reeve hybrid of your dreams)
Arabella is who made this story really sing for me their relationship is turbulent and dynamic and has you routing for them from the very start!

Yes this is Romantasy but with the bones of a fully fleshed out fantasy world with a brewing war tensions are super high and the politics between the fates/oracles and gods kept me constantly on edge and the ending was so wild I need to know what happens next immediately!!!

I was constantly messaging Charli while reading this some of the spicy scenes are absolutely 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and I make the mistake of reading in public 😂 (please don’t make the same mistake I did)

Overall I loved this read the only thing I struggled with at the start was the complexity of the language system but that was on me for not checking the glossary enough so do that!!!

If you want a Romantasy that is complex and still plot driven with the bad boy / girl of your dreams I’d pick this one up when it releases!

i want to thank charli for this arc, you’re truly an inspiration!

i loved the concept of this book, fates that determine the fate of their people with gods and oracles being their chosen right hand. i was so intrigued to find out about these beings and be thrown into a world where fate was manipulated!

i really enjoyed the world and character building. you really connect to the characters and feel for them and their horrible pasts, you even root for most them. the concept of finian being an oracle and arabella hunting his kind is what intrigued me the most but it got lost in the story for me. i would have loved to see more of them being the hunter and the hunted and the tension but i did enjoy what we got!

the spice??? next level! this book really did not disappoint 😮‍💨 you have to work for it a little bit once you get it, you GET IT!

also that ending? i did not see that coming !!

overall i really enjoyed it though the story got a bit lost during the middle and i found it overall a little lengthy, but it is a great debut novel and i am excited to see where the story goes

I'm not sure I have the words to explain how this book had me in an absolute chokehold. It was just so damn good it's crazy.

The worldbuilidng and lore is incredible, and how could I possibly forget the plethora of absolutely spectacular characters, each with their own distinct personalities. The concept with the Fates, God's and Oracles, and their respective abilities is also amazing, and I just couldn't get enough.

Having in place multiple POV's added dimension to the story that one point of view alone would have never achieved. The spice, emotions, and story were perfectly balanced, everything working harmoniously to create something that was devastatingly beautiful to read.

The action in this book ebbed and flowed, before eventually reaching a crescendo and holy moly, it had my heart hammering in my chest.

That ending hit me like a punch to the gut, but it was damn perfect, and I can't wait for book two.

Charli, hot dam girl, you pulled something truly incredible out of the bag with this one!

I am so glad that I picked up The Oracles Dream, but I was not ready. Finnian is described as absolutely delicious, as is Arabella. I've seen the art and they indeed are!
Arabella.. So much time spent hunting Oracles, just for her world to be turned upside down in unimaginable ways.
Finnian, he is so angry and a little broken. But it's because he feels so deeply!! Everyone fears him but only a very small group actually know him.
I love this duo. When they come together and stop fighting the path they're on, it's world altering, for both of them.
The characters across this book are so well written that I watched it in my mind as a movie. I can't wait to see what else the fates have in store.

I really really wanted to like this book 🥲 but I felt like it was shallow when it came to chapter development, weirdly while there was just too much going on? It's hard to explain. I do think there were too many main characters. By the time one was mentioned again, I had to look back at the character list and glossary at the beginning, and that's just not my cup of tea. But some readers may really like the many many POV thing (think like the latter GoT books). If you are one of them, take that comment with a grain of salt 🤷🏼‍♀️

My main issue is that the characters just weren't developed enough for my tastes, and it made the relationships and some of the reactions seem unrealistic and out of nowhere.

The premise is great!! A story is being written by the Fates, and we get a front row seat and dive into the fable. I really like the magic system with the Fates, Gods, and Oracles. I think it was explained pretty well, which can be heard to do when you create a whole world. I don't feel that italicizing each of the Fates added anything to the story though. Other than emphasizing how frequently they pop up? It was very distracting to me while reading.

Overall, I was interested in the story, but I probably won't continue the series 🫤

I do want to thank the author for my copy to read and review 🩷🩷

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 stars) | 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3 peppers)

I’ll be honest, I took my time with this book. Not because it dragged, but because the lore is rich and complex, and I wanted to truly sink into the world the author crafted. And wow, it was absolutely worth it. And sometimes I just needed to stop reading since I was overwhelmed by the book - and it's a great sign you know? Coz i was feeling deeply for the characters and their fate.

The storytelling style is very unique, almost mythological. It feels as though ancient gods are weaving a tale before us, deciding where to intervene and what threads of fate to pull. It’s mesmerizing, almost magical, and it really deepened my immersion into the world. It made me feeling like a good old times when I was reading as a kid (that warmth in my heart and smile on my face?), yes, that's how this book feels.

The story itself has everything I want from a fantasy novel - tragedy, humor, liveliness, drama, love and spice, and daggers hehehe. There's a full-blown magical system, a distinctive language, and a setting that feels solid and timeless. And there are a lot of characters that you will definitely fall in love with because all of them are unique and whole and broken at the same time.
If you're into classic high fantasy with layered aesthetics and soul, this one delivers.

And then there’s Finny and Arabella. Their love story was dramatic, emotional, and at times even frustrating, but in the best way. I won’t lie: Arabella trying to kill that dangerous cinnamon bun Finny constantly had me fuming and hurting too coz he deserved better!!! (sorry, I just love him, can't help myself....) But it just shows how deeply I was invested in their fate.

A dark, rich, beautifully written fantasy.
Highly recommended, wholeheartedly <3

A spicy fantasy to warm you up on the cold winter evenings since this comes out late December 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What I liked…
So much to love in this.
I love how it starts with one of the Fates telling a story from their perspective like some omniscient narrator but then we switch to the main characters’ POVs for a closer look.
A hunter out for vengeance.
An immortal trapped in a life of servitude to the big meanies.
Gods and god blessed and their quirky ways of seeing humans.
Relationships and friendships tested to the limits.
No spoilers, but there’s one hell of a cliffhanger ending and I’m so excited to see what happens next.

What I didn’t like…
I felt like the main plot vanished for a good while and I forgot what was going on in the rest of the world. I like when characters have a moment to themselves, but there were very long stretches.

Final thoughts…
If you like spice, complications, and godly meddling in your fantasy, this has plenty. I'm excited for book 2.

What happens when the Oracle crosses paths with the Oracle hunter?

The Oracle's Dream is the first book in The Fable of the Fates series by Charli S Ashby and is a true enemies to lovers, dark fantasy romancd with a touch of Greek mythology.

Through the eyes of the seven Fates, the book tells the story of Death's favourite, and most feared Oracle, Finian, who tortures and consumes death like no other. Known as Death's Butcher, his loves blood, his favourite torture shirt and making music (the screams of his victims).

With Fates going rogue and an Oracle hunter taking out some of the most powerful Oracles, it is not the time for Finian to be distracted. When he stumbles over a tree root and falls at the feet of Arabella he knows he has met the love of his life and becomes obsessed with her. What he doesn't know is that Arabella is hiding a huge secret.

Arabella is a badass. The secret she is hiding - she's the Oracle hunter everyone is searching for. Seeking revenge for the death of her father she has no issue with doing what it takes to complete her mission until she meets Finian and is unable to fight the instant attraction she has towards him.

In true enemies to lovers, the relationship between Finian and Arabella is tempestuous and electric and while the spice is slow to arrive, when it does it is worth the wait.

The world and character building are exceptional and really allow you to connect with the world of Epinia and the side characters. Each of the characters has their own personalities and motivations and are so well written that by the end of the book it feels like you know each of them personally. Some you can't help but love, some you can't help but hate and some will have you unsure of how to feel.

This beautifully written fantasy is told from multiple POV and will take you on a journey of Fates, Gods, myths, politics and conplex relationships. Be prepared to feel the gauntlet of emotions, especially with that ending.

The Oracle's Dream is a breathtaking start to what promises to be an outstanding series. If Charli puts as much heart and soul into the next book in the series you are not going to want to miss it.

Blew me away

In all seriousness, how long was this book? I read it on Kindle, so little concept, but I can plow through a book in a day, and this took me 3! That's without even putting it down! I was trying to think about how to streamline it and make it more succinct...the fate chapters were confusing at times, but ultimately, I kind of loved these parts. It reminded me of the fates in Disney's Hercules... the chapter headers and quotes reminiscent of Rachel Gillig Dark Window series. Yes, this story also pretty much includes every current Spice trope (spitting, primal, knife play, breeding, slow burn, insta love, fated mates, who did this, mine, I will burn the world down for you, I don't share, one bed, grey trousers insert male parts outline, 14 inch cervix wrecker, no you say it first, no you say it, all of the things and then some!) I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed this so deeply. It wasn't perfect, but in a world of no in betweens...it was way closer to 5 stars than 4! I think with a little more editing and finesse, this has all of the means to become a solid 5 star for me. How with so many boxes checked, did this story still find a way to somehow be a unique breath of fresh air? How as such a slow burn was this story dripping in hotness from start to finish? I can't wait for more. This was Goooood! PS, we love curvy bad ass MFC energy, bipoc, trans, and pansexual representation!

"...You have captured the very essence of my soul and I do not want it back."

I don't even know where to begin. A beyond impressive debut novel from a talented indie author. The concept of a Greek mythology retelling with Fates, oracles, gods and all their creations on a mirror world of Earth? So very creative. Our FMC is a bad@ss oracle hunter with revenge to get. Our morally grey MMC, beyond hot with the white hair and the mismatched eyes and ALL. THE. TATTOOS, is Death's favorite Oracle. When they meet and clash, all of my favorite tropes are realized in the "holy trinity": slow burning enemies to fated mates. Toss in a bit of villain for you with the required touch her and be no more and it's everything I look for in a fantasy romance. The spice is slow coming (the best way to honor true enemies to lovers) but when it hits, it is more than worth the wait. The world building is well thought out and symbolism and hidden meanings (all the meaningful character names) abound, which I adore. I felt all the emotions while reading this one, including outrage at the ending. Charli has some apologizing to do in book two and I'm feral to read it.

Find your own path, no matter how lost you might get getting there.

This is one very strong debut to a trilogy of meddling gods, disciples and favoured, LGBTIA+ characters, trauma, love, and an impending war.

There was great worldbuilding, delivered in such a wonderful way that was fresh and just entirely enjoyable. It’s also multiple POV which helps in the understanding of the world. The complexities of everyone’s dynamic towards each other and the factions. And the mysteries of introduced concepts.

The plot definitely leads to surprising moments, just entirely a rollercoaster to behold. It’s multiple characters leading strong stories that interconnect with each other in a wonderful fashion that made me root for everyone. As this is a multiple POV, we follow many different, interesting characters which makes me unable to set aside different sections for them.

However, the romance on all corners of the story, just hit beautifully. There’s so much to unpack in the upcoming books, so much to read and enjoy. The spice definitely went very spicy. The heat and tension very palpable.

Can’t wait to read the others!

This was quite the epic story! It was hella long but so worth it. I cannot describe how many emotions went through me while reading this book.

Finian my boy was such a great villain that you come to love, and he’s not really the villain. 😉 He has so much depth and substance that you fall in love with him throughout the story, especially the more you learn about him. And he is fucking hot and smooth and flirty and absolutely fantastic! Ugh, Drool! I also highly enjoyed Death, but I always enjoy a Death character! 😁

Let me talk about the Badass B, Arabella. She is so fierce and I love her grit and determination. I love watching her relationships bloom and my heart breaks for her! I seriously need to know what happens in the next book, cause that ending had me almost throwing the book across the room. IYKYK!

Great story, so many plots within plots which kept you interested and wanting to know what happens! Highly recommend!

This was such a unique take on ... well, everything. Gods, angels, myths, you name it, Ashby has messed with it in the best of ways. It's familiar enough that you can find your footing, but unique enough that it is also very fantastical in nature, making it not a preachy fantasy romance, but instead a pure fantasy that takes you out of this world and into a new one.
Ashby takes you on a wild journey with carefully crafted characters, some of whom you root for and others whom you do NOT, that will leave you guess which way it will pivot. And when I say carefully crafted characters, I do mean carefully crafted. Each character is so well-written that by the end of the book the reader feels as if they know them personally.
The worldbuilding alone brought this book up to a four star. From there it was an easy step up to a five based on the plot. Pick this up, it will be worth it.

The Fates are Time, Destiny, Hope, Luck, Fear, Love, and Death. When the Fates want to do dirty work, they call upon the Oracles. Oracles is born through death.

Finian is an Oracle. Arabella hunts Oracles. These two should hate each other but that is not the case. I like the slow burn that these two shared. It made it more believable.

The world building is what I enjoyed the most about this book. It captivated me as did the concept of the story. While, not main love interests, I did like Finian's brother, Athis. He brought a lighthearted, comedic side to the story. Another person that I found interesting is Viktoria. She called things like they are.

The only thing I didn't like is that I did feel like the beginning was solid but then the story kind of moved at a slow pace for a long while and then picked up again to slow down and finally pick up and stay steady. Yet, this book is worth the read.

This book really should have been great, but I just don’t know why I never felt that way reading it. I think in a way everything just felt like it wasn’t clearing explained and I was always having to think hard about what was going on and what the main plot was. The characters had lots of potential though so I feel this contributed to how confused I was that this wasn’t a better read. However, in saying this, there was definitely too big of a cast list (at least for me) because I was constantly confusing people especially with how many names they all went by.
In all, I don’t really know my feelings on this book. I think I just wanted more clarity and if we had this, it truly would have been a really enticing and intriguing book I would have loved!

Finian is a Death Oracle, also known as Death’s Butcher. Arabella is the Oracle Hunter, trying to find the man who killed her father. When Finian trips over a tree root and lands at Arabella’s feet, he knows he has met his soulmate. These two should hate each other but that is not the case. With war looming, the two of them need to work together to stop the Fate of Destiny from taking over.
The more I learnt about Finian, the more I loved him. There was great worldbuilding, even though it is quite complicated. The multiple POV helps in the understanding of the world. I loved the world building and characters. However, I feel there were too many characters, so I was confusing people. The end of the book hurt with that cliff hanger!

sexy dark romantasy

Wow. That was dark and sexy and dangerous and so full of suspense and love triangles and drama. The author sucked me in with the mythology of the Fates and kept me in with her exciting plot line. The spice in this is intense and the story keeps you guessing the whole time. The cliffhanger at the end was so intense I almost threw my iPad across the room coz I can’t believe that’s how it ended. For a dark romantasy with a variety of languages (including sign language) and lots of sexy characters (visit her Instagram account for artwork!), The Oracle’s Dream is one to read! I can’t wait till the sequel to find out what happens next!!

Buckle up for a debut that is PERFECT for winter!

This is a debut fantasy book from Charlotte and I’m obsessed! It’s the perfect mix of plot and spice & once I was hooked I couldn’t put it down!

The book mainly focuses on the seven fates, (full book summary in comments) Finian, (deaths favourite oracle) & Arabella, (an oracle hunter).
The twists and turns will have you screaming . . . And the cliffhanger 👀 good luck!

One of my favourite things about this story is that although it is plot heavy, we get these long stretches where character focus and development take over, & I love that in a book! I ended up becoming super attached to side characters quickly!

Read this if you like:
* Morally Grey MC
* Enemies to lovers
* hidden identity
* Spice
* Female Assasins
* Multi POV
* Touch her and ☠️
* Fated mates

And Charlotte, I’m so proud of you. I cannot wait for book two! Your writing is beautiful, your story is incredible and I can’t wait for the world to read it!

Oracles’ Dream by @charli.s.ashby.author was so good! I couldn’t put it down after getting to the 25% mark. Finian and Arabella are an unlikely match that works perfectly from the moment they meet turning Arabella’s world upside down. What she set out to do at first wound up being the last thing she’d ever do to Finian. I was questioning so much about Arabella. The last several chapters had me on the edge of my seat. Finally, if you’re looking for spice, the spice was spicing!

The way the author writes, is like you are watching a movie. It’s a beautiful book and story! The passion written into this is breathtaking.

I loved this book and I can’t wait to continue the story! I need to know how things play out!

This was my favorite read so far this year! I loved the world building and characters. It did end on a cliffhanger but sooo worth it! This story was beyond original and captivating. I fell for the side characters just as much as the main. Be prepared for dark, unhinged love along side action packed plot. I can not wait for book two!!

This book kept dragging me back in. It has a complex magic system and amazing characters. I enjoyed that it was told from many prospective and a lot of focus on Fin’s. The grammar errors kept pulling me out but I had to keep down to find out what happened. The end of the book did hurt with that cliff hanger.

I loved the tension between Arabella and Finian, I was giggling and kicking my feet when they finally kissed.

3,5 I like the book
great ideas
good stories but it’s written a little bit messy and unprofessional and I get it. The author is a new a writer, but editing would be nice. I hope honestly that the next book going to be better as far as the composition goes and following the characters

Ps. I know my English grammar not really correct either, but English is my language.

I really enjoyed the idea of the Fates and their powers. The characters were intriguing, though a bit numerous to follow easily. The story had plenty of spice and banter, and the ending left me hanging with a cliffhanger. I can't wait to find out what happens in Book 2.
