Ken Pratt worked to make a living, but his passion has always been writing. Having a busy family, the only "free" time he had to write was late at night getting no more than five hours of sleep a night. He has penned several novels that are being published along with several children stories as well. Ken Pratt says, "If you want something bad enough, you'll sacrifice something else to get it. I sacrifice sleep. I do not write to be a best seller or for wealth, I write to bring hope into the lives of the hopeless and encourage the disheartened through the lives of the characters and God's providence in my stories. There is always 'Hope' and that is the purpose of my books."

Fans of this series already know what they are going to find, unlimited action, justice being dealt and some scripture. Gabriel and Evan go to Portland, Oregon to visit Matt's father and don't waste much time getting shanghaied. Fortunately, the ship they are going to be on is in port for repairs. This gives Matt, Morton and William time to get there and try to find them. What do you do when most of the town seem on the take and the ones that aren't won't talk? It's not like following kidnappers into the mountains. There are crips and sailor house throughout the town and any one of them could be responsible. Maybe we will have to wait until the next book to see if either of them make it home. Can't wait to see if the author can top this one!

The latest in the amazing life of Matt Bannister.

Book 17 in this series, Everson Solstice is an excellent read and uplifting in spirit. Matt is a Deputy U.S. Marshall, in the west at the end of the 19th century. More importantly, he is a child of the King. This book and the other 16 books in this amazing series not only entertain the reader, you will come to know the Bannister family as almost friends. This is great adventure and really well written.

poor ending

I was so angry when the book ended! I stayed up until 2:30 in the morning! It was a good book but— how could the author react so poorly to the still missing other boy and return home!

Lots of activity.

This was a shocking revelation. To think this probably happened at another time. I am hoping in the next book , Matt will find a way to bring Evan home! Was looking for that to happen before the end.
