Olivia and Ivy, the twins, have been invited to a royal vampire wedding. This trip is incredible with a beautiful castle, famous vampires, and the wedding of the century. Transylvania isn't all black-tie bats and wedding bells, as Ivy is supposed to be scoping out the famed vampire school Wallacia Academy. It would be an amazing opportunity to go to this boarding school, but does she want to go to a school that her human sister cannot.
Sienna Mercer grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was an only child, and always wanted a brother or sister – especially a twin. A twin would have been awesome! Sadly, she never got that sister so, when she was grown up, she did the next best thing - she wrote books about a girl who reminded her of herself, and gave her the most fun, fabulous twin she could think of!
Sienna began writing stories when she was a teenager, on a very wet day in Toronto when her cheerleading practice was cancelled - and she has not stopped writing since. She used to write in red leather notebooks while sat on her bed, but now does most of her writing in her attic, which is quite dark, and has some spooky cobwebs in the corners - the perfect location for thinking about vampires. She doesn't use red notebooks anymore, either, although she keeps them in a chest by her desk in the attic.
Sienna got the idea for My Sister the Vampire from a daydream she had - what if she had a super-cool twin sister... who was a vampire? She loved the characters - and their kooky friends and family - so much that she just had to keep writing about them.
When she's not daydreaming about vampires and cheerleading, Sienna enjoys travelling and exploring new cities, and keeps a detailed scrapbook of everywhere she’s visited. She lives in Toronto, kept company by Calypso and Angel – her two gorgeous cats. She is happily writing away and we wait for her upcoming books!
I think this is one of my faves of this series. I always love it when the twins are in Transylvania - it led to so much chaos and strife (but ultimately new discoveries and bonding) the first time around, and this book was no different. I love the decadent settings, the backstory and seeing how Olivia and Ivy cope with being outsiders and dealing so many new situations. Particularly the ending of this story has enforced in me why I love this series so much: the fact that the protagonists are so incredibly true to themselves. Olivia and Ivy have been role models for me since I was 7 years old, but as I get older (further and further away from the age of these characters) I've found that I only find them more and more inspiring. More pressures and expectations in my life means it seems to be getting harder to "be myself" a lot of the time, but I know I'll always have My Sister the Vampire to help me along the way. This book will always have a special place in my heart.
Twin sisters Ivy and Olivia are in Transylvania to attend the wedding of their friends Tessa and Alex. At first I thought Ivy and Olivia were being really overdramatic, the way Olivia was talking about 'The Free Rose' and Ivy was saying she might never she Olivia and Brendan again but actually now I think it added to the overall effect of the book. All the vampires in Transylvania are extremely dramatic and ridged with their traditions. The feel of this book was definitely over-dramatic. Loved it!
I mean there was nothing wrong with it. It was a good book, i liked the vampire puns and stuff, but im really only still reading the series bc younger me never got the chance to and i kinda wanna know how it ends. its a pretty good book but as an adult, at this point, not really enough to hold my attention. Is that gonna stop me reading all 18 books? absolutely not.
"This is a funny, super-girly story with a vampire bite to it. Sink your teeth into Olivia and Ivy's tenth fright-time adventure. The twins are back in Transylvania for Prince Alex and Tessa's wedding, and to settle Ivy in to the Wallachia Academy. Plus they've landed the juicy job of reporting on the royals' big day for VAMP magazine. Exciting! But Olivia's pining for Jackson and, to make matters worse, wherever she turns she's confronted with happy couples! She struggles to overcome her feelings until distraction comes in the form of an old feud that threatens to spoil the happy couple's day..." (Amazon.com)
I skipped the 9th book!!!!!!!! I'm so frustrated! I feel so bad! Ugh!
To explain my disappointment, here's the story: I was downloading the remaining 3 My Sister The Vampire books - that are available - to read. When the 9th book was done I opened it and started reading but I then noticed that I have already read this... It was book 7, Lucky Break. I checked the link from where I downloaded it from and it said something something "07_Lucky_Break".
I was like
So after deleting it and downloading it all over again I tried to look for another place to download the book and I found nothing.
Nothing! Seriously nothing! My best bet to find to book now is to buy it from a bookstore and the only bookstore I know that sells this books series takes me 5 hours to go there from my house and 3 hours from school. I guess I have no choice. I love this book series too much to let one book left unread. So I've decided to buy it when I get the chance.
I missed a lot. Sienna Mercer did explain some parts that happened in the 9th book but only a little. The info that shocked me the most was that a certain perfect couple - again, I'm not spoiling anything cause I have an anti-spoil policy when writing reviews cause I want my readers to read the book themselves - were having troubles in their relationship (just when I thought everything's going well!) and it made me so mad at myself for not waiting to buy the 9th book first before reading the 10th and 11th. I cant help it, I just love reading these books so much - too bad for my straight reading streak though.
I love how Ivy and Olivia are back in Transylvania with a very unique purpose, Prince Alex and Tessa's grand royal wedding! I'm not a fan of weddings but I did love reading the drama, suspense, struggles, and romance in this one. Another "wedding-themed" story I like is the movie; 27 Dresses. And a new romance is revealed throughout the story, a very short yet sweet significant romance.
I love the idea of The Summer Rose thing. It's very creative and captivating! I would love to catch my own rose although I do not have someone right now.
Again, I am so looking forward to - if ever - a director/producer/whatever person to make this book series into a TV show. I'd be it's biggest fan! Seriously gonna be killer.
I also love how Sienna Mercer wrote about the vampire community. It's not like what I read in other books or what I watch in my fave vamp movies or what I know, its different but a good great different cause I definitely see it as a realistic contributing factor to paranormal things in the real world. And, as I said before in my other reviews, the goth/vamp-lingo is seriously drop dead.
I already started reading the 11th, page 94, if I'm not mistaken. I really do hope I get to buy the 9th, it will be the last My Sister The Vampire book I'll read - while waiting for the next book to be published. It's like two years ago when I stopped reading at the fourth book cause the fifth book was still being written. How time flies too fast...
I started reading this series when I was back in 6th grade, which meant I wasn't that much of an avid reader, which means that I LOVED it back then. So I realized that there was a 10th book, and I actually got it. I suppose that after reading so many 400+ page novels, I thought this book was so short and childish. Unfortunately. I really liked the first book, though!
It was a major disappointment. I'm not planning to get any more of this series. I'm done. I would recommend it for Elementary school kids, though!
Imma be real, I don't remember a whole lot of this one. I don't remember said vampiric wedding however, I think I would remember a vampire wedding that sounds dope. Fun though !! The end of MY journey with this series.
I literally BEGGED my parents to get me the 10 book set during a scholastic book fair when I was like in the 3rd grade, and finally got around to reading them !! Better late than never I say !! 3rd grade me would've loved this !!
Good book for tweens who are too young to read the Twilight books, but are looking to be a part of the vampire craze. I didn't like some of the writing style, but it was okay for the age group. The first book in the series is My Sister the Vampire.
I think that this book is intended for a younger audience but I enjoy reading them for some light reading when I don't have anything else to read. I intend to keep reading the books in the series that keep coming out. Other then that I thought that it was pretty good for 4 stars.
When I was younger, I loved the covers of the series. I had no idea which one was the first book at the library, so I took a random one out and read it. I can't really remember the name of that book, but I remember this one being one of the three MSTV series
Loved it! This was my favorite series when I was in 4th grade, and I honestly cant imagine anything cooler than having a twin sister who is actually a vampire!
