A Favorable Match by Ann Elizabeth Fryer is the second book in the Butterton Brides series. Though you could read it without having read A Convenient Sacrifice (Book One), I highly recommend reading the books in order. There’s a mysterious thread that runs through the three books, so you’ll have a better understanding of that mystery by reading them in order. I read all three books in three days! They’re so exciting that you won’t want to put them down! In A Favorable Match, an overprotected heiress is sent to live with one of her grandfather’s closest friends in order to make a “favorable match” with one of the man’s three sons, yet she is warned by the brothers’ cousin to be wary of the brothers. The author does a marvelous job of describing the characters and setting. All three books have a slightly Gothic feel to them which makes them even better in my opinion! This thrilling novel is well-plotted and adds another mystery which carries into the third book. I highly recommend A Favorable Match!

Fairly good storyline but...

Just too much God. He is mentioned in nearly every paragraph and almost definitely on every page. So much praying and hoping He can help in some way. It was a shame because the story had its good points and was well written for a KU book. I remembered that I started the first one in this series but gave that up halfway through too.

Emma, a sheltered young woman in Regency England, who has has lived with her grandfather and uncles since her parents died in a carriage accident is suddenly told that she must immediately go vist a friend and pick one of his three sons to marry. Shortly afterward she is told by a near stranger that she must not visit his uncle and sons at their estate. That is the beginning of this closed door romance and the mystery and plot twists do not stop until the final page. You must read the first book in this trilogy, A Convenient Sacrifice to understand and appreciate the story. It was so nice to see pivotal characters from A Convenient Sacrifice in this book. If you like Mimi Matthew, Julie Klassen, Jody Hedlund, or Victoria Holt will love Ann Elizabeth Fryer’s books. All of her books as of the writing of this review are in Kindle Unlimited.

I enjoyed this second book in the series. At first I wasn’t sure how it connected but it was soon made apparent. I liked the hills hood connection and the whole “heiress sequestered away” portion. This was a lovely forced proximity and protector romance. I enjoyed the suspense of it and I was kept on my toes.

Clean and exciting

Mrs Fryer writes well. The characters are well fleshed out and people you want to know. The stories are more like Jane Eyre with light and dark.
A good read.
Thanks, I enjoyed it very much.
