I’ve been interested in crystals and their spiritual / folkloric correspondences for a couple of years now and have read a variety of books on the subject. When reading this one, I noticed a number of red flags that I think are important to point out.
First of all, there is no bibliography nor any cited sources to be found in this book. Nothing to back up the author’s claims nor any further resources, the latter of which seems especially bizarre given that this book is intended for beginners.
My second and possibly biggest issue with this book is its repeated endorsement of treating crystals with water. In the introduction (page “x”) the author writes, “Wash them [the crystals] regularly under running water if you are using them protectively.” This is absolutely not a statement that is safe to write as general or “catch-all” advice. Crystals have all sorts of metals and compounds that should not be treated with water, much less on a regular basis. Even Rose Quartz - a crystal that is often marketed as water safe - contains aluminum and is not recommended to be left exposed in water.
The author touches on this again on page 9, listing water as the first form of cleansing. The closest thing to a disclaimer here is “This works for most tumbled stones, except those that are fragile, like selenite, or metallic, like hematite.” I don’t think this is a thorough enough warning, and I wish the author had expanded on the difference between rumbled / polished crystals and raw crystals. Crystals that are widely accepted as water safe in tumbled / polished form are not always acknowledged as safe to expose directly to water in raw form.
On page 20 the author writes about incorporating crystals in your garden, in potted plants, and burying crystals in the soil in your yard and / or in the previously mentioned potted plants. I personally wouldn’t bury crystals for the same reason I wouldn’t put them in water. She also goes on to recommend putting crystals in watering cans and cut flower vases.
On page 22 the author recommends soaking crystals in water and then using that water in drinks, and page 35 includes a paragraph that states that leaving jade in your pet’s water for “a few hours” maintains that animals health and calms aggressive behavior. Please don’t do either of these things as they are unsafe and given the things I mentioned before.
Finally, page 73 starts with “An Alternative Method Of Making Crystal Waters”. Unfortunately, this section opens by directing the reader to two other books by the author for a “detailed list of crystals that are safe to soak directly in water,” - a statement that I have to doubt given the information included in this book thus far. A short and very incomplete list of crystals that shouldn’t soak directly follows, and she finishes the paragraph with directions for the indirect method for making crystal elixirs. The author never explains why crystals shouldn’t be left exposed in water though, which I think is an important thing to mention in a disclaimer like this.
Moving on from the water issue, the author recommends leaving crystals (especially “vibrant, richly colored, or sparkling crystals”) in morning sunlight on the same page that she promotes water cleansing. There is no disclaimer or mention that this could cause the crystal’s color to fade.
Something that I noticed very early on is that the author uses a lot of definitive language like ‘x crystal will,’ ‘z crystal will cause,’ and ‘it does’ or ‘it reduces’ etc. If this is how you want to believe that crystals work, that’s your independent choice, but for a beginner’s book to write these things as though they are fact is just misleading.
The author also writes with the assumption that the reader works with angels somewhat closely / consistently. There’s obviously nothing wrong with incorporating angels into your spiritual practice, but I think it really limits the versatility or accessibility of a book that is marketed towards beginners and advertises itself as an introductory text.
I’m not super sure how to feel about the crystal healing section. To be fair, the author does at least clarify that crystal healing should not replace normal healthcare; however, the definitive language that was persistent throughout the book continued in this section, which doesn’t help its case in my opinion. I think that for the most part, using crystals as a “good luck charm,” self-soothing totem, or even a sort of placebo is fine as an addition to professional medical treatment. I’m just not as sure how to feel about her paragraphs about healing others with crystals. I guess if someone is seeking out crystal healing from another person, that’s also their personal choice? It just makes me think about all the ways that desperate people can be (and have been) taken advantage of, which rubs me the wrong way.
I like the generalized reference material, but I have other sources I would turn to first. Overall I think it’s a pretty ok beginner reference book, but I would definitely recommend comparing the information to trusted sources and taking the instructions for use with a pinch of salt.

This is a perfect introduction to the power of crystals in everyday life. I'm only giving it three stars because some things are in inconspicuous lists that make it hard to read what each crystal actually does. I wish it had been organized by crystal instead of by sections like "Crystals in the Home" and "Crystals and Children." While those are useful chapters, many of the crystals fall into several categories. The current organization just makes it a little hard to find all of the traits and uses of particular crystals.

Well, I have already been studying crystals: the use of, healing properties, and power of crystals - since I started my spiritual journey. Although I have some pretty basic knowledge of crystals - from reading books and making it a part of my livelihood to visit crystal shops, there is always more to learn; so I picked up this book as another crystal guide.
"A little bit of Crystals" is definitely an introduction to crystal healing. This book goes more into listing methods, practices, and suggestions for crystal healing - all while being descriptive of the properties of these crystals. Cassandra does a great job of explaining the different types of crystals - being categorized by shape, color, and kind. I honestly didn't even realize that crystals were categorized by color, and the deeper I got into this book, I made the connection that generally, the color of the crystal is linked to a certain chakra. For example, carnelian- orange, used for creativity, openness with oneself, sexuality: sacral plexus chakra - orange, linked with one's creativity, sensuality, sexuality.
I appreciate the complexities of this book as Cassandra teaches us how to work with crystals in many key parts of your life, such as: with love, with family, with money, with traveling, within your home, with animals, with plants, with work, with fertility, and even with your zodiac sign(and other signs in your natal chart)
I have highlighted and bookmarked so many pages and sections of this book as I will be using it as a reference when doing crystal healing work.
- I am grateful. Thank You Cassandra

I really liked this book! It's full of interesting information and the reading was very fluid and easy.

It has many descriptions of crystals and what they can be used for, plus methods of healing and how to cleanse and energize your crystals, which was very interesting to me because it's very practical.

There are two things I didn't really like, but it's more of a me thing:

1. The book tell you to buy a bunch of crystals - That's not a problem per se, of course buying crystals is one of the most common ways to get them, but for someone who's just starting their practice it can sound a bit like "you need to spend a lot of money and get all of these crystals". Again, that's more of a me thing.

2. The fact it only mentions angels - I don't have a problem with those who only work with angels or those from a different spiritual tradition, but I personally would like to see some mentions of other deities and entities, like which crystal could be associated to a Greek God, or Norse God, or to a nature entity for example.

Other than that, I think this book is very good for those who wanna know more about crystals or want to introduce them in their spiritual practice.

This was a very quick read (after I finally decided to focus on it as opposed to reading it on the side). I'm definitely no expert on gemstones after the read but it was very informative and kind of makes me want to start expanding my crystal collection more. Very useful and I'd probably go back and take a peek at it again once my collection grows.

I have the French version which is rather good. (I specify because the book can be modified from one language to another...)
There are some facts and anecdotes about crystals that are interesting but delivery is not really ideal for lithotherapy…
If you are a beginner, this is not a book for you because it is a little complex.

This book is a perfect introduction for people like me who want to know crystals and their functions. How ever, it doesn’t have pictures so it’s hard to imagine the crystals. Yo need to pause the reading and search for the crystal on line so it stops the reading flow.

A good short read, perfect introduction for anyone looking to work with crystals. A beginners book for sure, but that's okay. Well organized and clearly conveyed so that it's easy to follow along. Not bad.

Packed with information but presented in a breezy, palatable way. Some information was so inconspicuous that I could not find it when I searched for it a few pages later. I learnt of many new crystals from here, and realized the author liked Golden chalcopyrite alot. I have orange moonstone and even perhaps a Girosal quartz and till this book, haven't been able to identify them. Thanks for that!

Great book for an introduction to the healing powers of crystals. Cassandra Eason gives you advice on how to use crystals to protect yourself, your loved ones, your home, and your pets too! She also uses crystals in conjunction with candles and spells to help bring more of what you desire in your life. It's not for me but could be useful for another.
