I downloaded a Kindle sample of this because I was curious about its twist on the secret baby plot, and found myself totally drawn in. Reversing the secret baby situation creates a plot that's both fresh and familiar, and the heroine's struggle to reconcile her pre-coma life to the changes she wakes up to is pretty compelling. I'm often hesitant to try new category authors, but this was a pleasant surprise.

This is the first book I read by Lilian Darcy. This book sounded touching & sad from the description so I decided to read it. To be honest I only read 20% of the book & stopped. The story was slow & boring. I thought Jodie's family was so over protective & treated her like she didn't know nothing. I don't if I would read more books by this author.

This is a good book so far. About being thrown into motherhood after being in a coma and not even knowing that you were pregnant. I can understand Jodie’s struggles with learning how to be a parent and trying to form a bond with your child after having to go through those kind of circumstances. If I have one complaint, it’s Jodie’s family. They were way to overprotective of her. She is a grown woman and should be able to make her own responsible choices in her life and in the life of her daughter.

This is the first book I read from Lilian Darcy, and it will not be the last. It was a touching story of a man and woman, and her family in the aftermath of a devastating car accident.
Jodie Palmer always had a crush on Devlin Browne so when he came back to town, temporarily, she agreed to date him knowing he was not looking for a commitment. A few weeks into dating, a drunk driver hits their car, leaving Devlin with a broken leg, and Jodie in a coma.
The story starts with Jodie being home after being in a coma for months. The book shows her physical and emotional struggles to get better and stronger while trying to figure out where her relationship with Devlin stands.
Amidst the drama between the couple is Jodie's overprotective family. It is rare in a book like this to see secondary characters so well drawn. I liked the juxtaposition of how Jodie's family's desire to do the best by her actually ends up impeding her progress towards physically, emotionally and mentally getting better. Usually books on patient in a coma tend to gloss over the issue, and although it was not discussed deeply in this book, it was handled with a good amount of realism.
But the book does not only center on Jodie's healing and her relationship with Devlin. Unknown to Jodie she gave birth to a baby girl while she was in a coma, leaving Devlin to struggle with an unexpected pregnancy, a girlfriend in a coma, and a newborn child with a sick mother. I really liked Devlin and how he stepped up to the plate in the midst of these challenges. Lilian showed his frustration, helplessness but also his integrity and love for Jodie.
Jodie was sympathetic without being weak, strong without being bull headed. She was a likeable and relatable character. Her struggles to bond with her child made me cry. Lilian was able to describe Jodie's confusion, and pain in heartbreaking detail. The epilogue was just as sweet, and added a nice touch, like cherry on top of a sundae.
This book is a keeper, one I know I will read again.

The author did a very good job including what type of ongoing issues someone who suffered a brain injury deals with during recovery. Of course, time frames were adjusted for story line purposes, but it was interesting anyway (I worked with newly injured individuals with brain injuries for over 5 years).
At arny rate, really liked the hero and how he was able to see what was really needed to help the heroine deal with the fact that she had a baby that she didn't know about.
The heroine's family was really annoying as they were overprotective and felt that Jodie (the heroine)could not handle anything. I know that there was her past illness to consider, however she had showed herself to be strong and very determined to do what she wanted.
Jodie's family also seems to completely discount Dev's role as a father. They seem to want to remove him from the baby's life - often taking the baby from him and questioning his actions related to the baby.
Outside of the family's interference, I really enjoyed the story. The storyline was a little different and the situation was handled well.

3.5 stars. This story portrays a woman struggling to form a bond with her baby while recovering from a serious accident. This would be a solid 4 stars but the ending felt rushed and I wanted a scene where she stood up to her family. We are tol,d that she's been fighting her family smothering all her life, but we never saw her it. The smothering was there but no fighting back, Jodie just went with the flow. If I'm to believe she's strong enough to fight for an independent life and a family of her own it must be shown, not told. I realize the author probably had to keep the story under a page limit, but this needed about 50 more pages.

I would have added one more star to this story if it hadn't been for the heroine's family. They really bugged me and I don't care if its realistic or not it got on my nerves. I enjoyed the romantic development between the H and h but I feel the issue with the family was really glossed over in the end when I felt that it needed more attention.

Just another feel good story, there were some times where I thought this couldn't possibly happen in real life and then it irritated me a little, but then another "Awe" moment would occur and I would push through. Quick, easy read.

This was really a lovely book. The hero ia perceptive and caring. There is no bad guy, the medical background ia not overwhelming yet the challenges are clear...I really recommend it.

I liked the premise but the storyline was a little slow for me. Still, it's nice when there isn't necessarily a "bad guy" moving the story along. This was just truer to reality. A nice change.

I really enjoyed this. It tackled a serious topic in a good way. I wasn't expecting to read that from the Harlequin line.

This book was very sad most of the time, but the last chapter was a very nice end of the story, which both characters deserved very much.

I loved this book, however sometimes her mom and sisters upset me because of their interfering.
