Warto? Jeszcze jak.
Meh. I feel like so many people are very judgy of solitary Witches, and Vivianne seems to be one of those people. Other than that it was a well-written, informative book.
For a reader just starting to read on this subject, I'd say it's a 3 star since the book presents the basics of knowledge about Wicca, it's history, holidays, and so on. It's a good start, then.
For me, knowing a bit more the book wasn't too great. Sure, it's good with repetitions, but it was a bit boring. I liked the exercises at the end of the book, though.
The audio version, I didn't particularly like the reading voice. She tried too hard to sound mystic, and read in a slow voice.
This has been my favorite beginner book I've come across so far. It flowed well and was very easy to understand. I kept reading it thinking "Exactly! Other books left this out!" or "This describes into words perfectly how I keep trying to explain Wiccan beliefs." With that latter statement, I was wishing I could quote parts of this book the next time I get in a discussion on Wicca. This book is now my most recommended for the next time I get asked where to start when wanting to study Wicca.
For a beginner who is completely new to the subject of Wicca this is a great starting point. It's short and to the point with exercises to help you along your path. But for someone like me who has been studying Witchcraft for around 10 years this book was just okay... I'm still happy I read it because repetition (especially in different words, and told through different eyes) helps my studies immensely.
Principles of Wicca is a descent, if not a bit dry, introductory book for Wicca. Vivianne Crowley does a descent job of taking you through what you need to know, and gives a bit of incite into the history and tales of Witchcraft. Also, many of the exercises laid out for the reader are helpful for beginning the mystery. Not a bad book, but not the best either.
This book has two sections. The first discusses all the basics of Wicca, while the second part is more like a condensed version, which is where I think the "20 minutes" comes from. In any case, the title is a bit of misnomer. It will take you more than 20 minutes to read and absorb all of the information, but it is an excellent introduction to this spiritual path.
I think the title is a little misleading, it is going to take more than 20 minutes to master anything. However this is a good short book which covers the basics well. There are lots of simple exercises to build up your practice and even guidance on how to start developing your own rituals. It's a good starting point and I can see why many introductions to Wicca have it on their reading lists.
It was a slow read, but finally got through it. I think for those New to Wicca it would be helpful to give a brief intro to many of the concepts, but for someone who already knows it is a bit boring.
