description

Perfecting Patience was a great conclusion to Playing Patience. I feel in love with both characters in the first book but felt like the story ended kinda of abruptly. So, I jumped on this book as soon as it was released to see what the future holds for Zeke and Patience.

Zeke’s band, Blow Hole is getting pretty popular, they are touring but a reader knows that Zeke wants his Snowflake by his side. When Patience decides that she will stay in Florida and attend school and play soccer Zeke is crushed.

Zeke doesn’t know that Patience is drowning in panic attacks and nightmares. Patience figures that the time apart will give her a chance to get herself under control…. so our couple tries a long distance relationship.

The couple faces a lot of obstacles- lies, self-medicating, a horrible accident and jealousy.

”I wanted to be perfect for you,” she said as another tear fell. “You deserve someone perfect. I didn’t want you to know I was just another screwed-up girl. I was scared to lose you.”

I really enjoyed these two sharing her apartment at college as well as Zeke finally seeing her play soccer! Sadly, they do have time spent apart but the one constant… is the love for one another.

”If it meant living on a rollercoaster of ups and downs for the rest of my life, then I’d do it to be with her. I had no other choice. She was the one I wanted.”

This story isn’t a cliffhanger and it’s told in alternating pov of both Zeke and Patience and ended with a nice HEA… you just have to have a little patience to get to it!

”I’ll love you until I don’t exist anymore, and even after I die, if there’s any good left in me, the love I have for you will continue on in my soul.”

**Review of the audiobook**

STORY: 4 Stars
PERFORMANCE: 5 Stars
OVERALL: 4.5 Stars

STORY
Patience may have physically escaped her father’s abuse, but the mental damage is hunting her. To my frustration, she decides to self medicate rather than get help. Worst of all, she lies about it to Zeke about everything, which of course just adds to her stress level. Zeke also gets into some trouble and ends up having to cope with a physical ailment, so both of their lives are turned upside down once again.

PERFORMANCE
I listened to the Audible audiobook narrated by Todd Haberkorn and Tatiana Sokolov. Although both of these narrators have voices that are more nasally than I prefer, there is no denying that they are two of the best narrators out there. Haberkorn and Sokolov are incredible actors, never sounding like they are reading from a script but delivering believable, engrossing performances!!

I just noticed on Goodreads that this book is listed as Blow Hole Boys 1.5, maybe why it is so short? Not to sure, but it was still a great read and addition to the Zeke and Patience story, although I had to get a refresher from a friend on exactly how Playing Patience ended.

The prologue confused me, but as I kept reading I got it, clever Tabitha Vargo as was the epilogue. Patience and Zeke are still trying to make this love thing work. While they have physically escaped the demons of their past, it is taken a toll on Patience mentally. She needs help, but doesn't want to let Zeke know exactly how paralyzing her past has actually become.

Zeke is back from tour with Blow Hole and is Patience's rock as always, but even a rock crumbles sometimes. He is trying to help his girl, however can't if he doesn't know the whole truth. Left to figure her out on his own, things start to get quite mixed up with the two of them.

Of course because nothing is easy for Zeke and Patience, they endure quite the traumatic event and now have to figure out how to go about themselves around it.

Well written, sexy and it shows a lot of growth between Zeke and Patience. I loved the epilogue!

Patience and Zeke have to deal with the ghosts of their pasts in this second book. Trouble starts brewing early on, as it becomes apparent that Patience is not doing as well as she's letting on. When Patience decides to stay behind while Zeke goes on tour with his band, their fears and insecurities add to the already high stress levels and Patience seeks solace elsewhere. Just when you think they may have crossed the point of no return, ruining their relationship, secrets are revealed that change everything.

It has been quite a while since I read the first book and I was worried I wouldn't remember the details. Luckily, that wasn't the case. Even though they were both fighting their own demons, this book had a much lighter feel than the first book. I was glad to see them get their HEA after the hell they'd each lived through. If two characters ever deserved a break, it was them.

This was a good book and a quick read. After the events of book one, this book provided closure and peace. It was great to see these two finally escape their nightmares and find contentment. I wish I had read this book earlier. I would recommend it, but don't expect the dark and disturbing vibe that book one had.

"I wanted to be perfect for you" She said as another tear fell. "You deserve someone perfect. I didn't want you to know I was just another screwed-up girl. I was scared to lose you."

It's no big secret that I ... Well, WE have a big girl crush on the awesomeness that is Tabatha Vargo.

I thoroughly enjoyed Playing Patience, even with its gut wrenching story line. The superb writing and beautiful story get you.

You can imagine the jumping up and down I did when I knew, when I realized that finally it would happen. The story would be written correctly.

Zeke loves Bree. The end!

I am sad! This did not happen. Why not? Because Tabatha is mean. Hahaha!

No, really it could not ever happen that way because Zeke was made to love Patience. The end.

I read alot and I love angst. Dramaz Sexy chapters that drip with the bad boy sweet sweet sweat.

Zeke and Patience have everything you need for a perfectly insane raw and real love story.

They break your heart. Rip it to shreds as they destroy the one thing they need the most. Each other.

There are times that I was just wishing they would let each other go. Just because their love burns at such a hot temp I was scared for them.

There is a fine line you walk when your love could set off fire alarms. Passion does not just breed sex. Passion breeds fire and fire can rage and burn you within seconds. These two need to carry around extinguishers.

This new book adds more to the story. It fills in the gaps. Allows us to peek inside just a bit more.

Zeke loves her. She loves him.

This story of two broken and battered souls who find redemption and love with each other, and in one another is by far one of my favorites. The writing is superb. The story is hard and raw, but real.

I think everyone should take the time to fall in love with them - flaws and all.

Thanks Ms. Vargo. Now get to work on the story of him finding his love for me.. Bahaha! A girls gotta try ;)

We fell in love with the two broken souls not too long ago. Patience - dealing with the years of abuse, a dying mother, protecting her sister and ultimately falling in love with a boy that was just as lost as she was. Zeke had no respect for women, he was beaten down by his father and allowed his love of his mother destroy how he saw his future, until he found a her on the floor of that bathroom in that club. That day changed both their lives. The story did not end when Patience made her way through the crowd at the festival.

Zeke and Patience have come a long way, but the pain of the past is nowhere near being healed. As they try to work out a long distance relationship they are both put through the tests of trust and honesty. Zeke knows in his heart that this girl is it for him. And he knows that beyond music there is one thing that he loves more - his snowflake.

But Patience hasn't fully dealt with the years of abuse, she is silently struggling to keep herself together and to make sure that no one sees her crack, especially Zeke.

That was our relationship from day one. Perfectly imperfect, one big fucked-up beautiful disaster, that's what we were. If it meant living on a rollercoaster of ups and downs for the rest of my life, then I'd do it to be with her. I had no other choice. She was the one I wanted.

This was a heartbreaking continuation to an already tragic story. The way these two seemed to love each other was both destructive (at times) and beautiful. They both had a need to protect one another from the reality of their scars. Neither wanting to appear weak, but both needing to be the one person that fixed the other. This led to some pretty horrific moments that broke your heart. I was torn between tears and shouting at them to get their shit together. Patience is one of those characters that was just written perfectly. Her story broke your heart and even when she fucks up you can't be too angry with her.

Perfecting Patience is the story of the healing process for both Zeke and Patience. Their story of getting to the place where the shattered pieces of their past can finally find a way to be mended. It is not an easy road and it certainly was a gut-wrenching read at times. But these two characters and their story worked their way into my heart completely.

I loved Playing Patience I fell in love with both Zeke and Patience in the book. As soon as I saw this book was being written I was ready to jump the moment it came out. I needed to know what would happen for Zeke and Patience, even though it seemed the worst was behind them, things were still able to go wrong.

Patience finally finds Zeke again but she is still suffering from the pain and anguish that goes along with being abused all her life. Patience wants nothing more than her happily ever after with Zeke but with Blow Hole making it big and recording in LA Patience can't make herself leave her baby sister. With Patience deciding to stay in florida Zeke is crushed but he would lay his life down to help make his snowflake happy.
The fact of the matter was I'd do just about anything she asked of me. I'd never let her know that, but was the truth.

Zeke and Patience have a lot to get threw before their happily ever after comes in to play. Patience is broken and fears she doesn't deserve his love. Zeke faces Jealousy and throw in a horrible accident and you have a lot of things testing their love.
"I wanted to be perfect for you" She said as another tear fell. "You deserve someone perfect. I didn't want you to know I was just another screwed-up girl. I was scared to lose you."

I loved these two from day one so I was rooting for them and every interaction they had. The two of them living together was so sweet and cute. The split POV was also great. I found I was in the right person's head at the right times. You also get to see the perfect love for one another. Most of all Patience and Zeke got a happy ending and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Zeke and Patience return in book 2 and it's pretty smooth. I felt Zeke maturing fairly naturally despite Patience not maturing. She's not getting therapy for her surviving abuse from her father all those years. It's hard to blame her because it was horrible but she messes up Zeke a lot in this book.

Four stars!

The only reason this was not a five star book, it should have just been part of the first book. That being said, it was the continuation of a great story about loving someone for who they are.

Perfecting patience fills in the blank between the ending of Playing Patience and the Epilogue. They get a few days together and then Zeke has to go back on tour. He wants more than anything to take his Snowflake along with him but she won't go. She has started having panic attacks and doesn't want him to know. She wants time to get herself better for him and tells him that she wants to go to college and they can work out a long distance relationship.

"It is amazing the things love will make you do. Love will make you kill, cheat, and steal. It will also make you walk away from the person who inspires your feelings if it keeps a smile on their face and gives them happiness." Zeke

Patience gets herself into therapy but never really commits totally and when she discovers that she can take pills to prevent her panic attacks, she stops the therapy all together and becomes addicted to Valium.

"There's a funny thing about scars. You can cover them up and hide them, but no matter what you do, they're always there." Patience

Zeke's music career has really taken off and in pushing him away Patience is faced with loneliness and jealousy on top of her already fragile state of mind. She is hurting herself and Zeke by trying to hide her problems from him and things really get out of hand. Zeke is also lonely and jealous and knows something is not right with his Snowflake. The lies and suspicion are literally breaking them.

"Life had been difficult for Zeke and me. There were hard times that we almost didn't make it through. But then we found each other and held each other together. Not everyone meets their other half. Not everyone has the chance to feel the kind of love that Zeke and I have for each other, but I'd like to think that after everything I went through in my life, Zeke was my happy ending."

I give Perfecting patience 3.5 stars. I am very glad that I went back and reread Playing Patience before reading this one and got their story fresh in my mind. While Perfecting Patience didn't have that same new, scary, innocent love and didn't evoke them same feelings of outrage and shock that Playing Patience did, it was nice to have more of their story. It made it more realistic to show that after the trauma they both went through that they did struggle to get to that happy place they found in the Epilogue of Playing Patience. Such a beautiful story!

This continues the story of Zeke and Patience (still love that name) picking up immediately after the end of Playing Patience but - and this confused me - before the epilogue. At least having read the epilogue, I knew where it was ending up eventually, but it either presents a major spoiler or necessary reassurance for anyone embarking on this.

You need to read book 1 first or this book would make little sense to you.

***This review contains major spoilers for bk1***
This was every bit as well written, gripping and compelling as Playing Patience, focusing on Patience trying to overcome the immediate aftermath of the horrendous sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her father, his death and the death of her mum. She really had a lot going on, which led to her suffering from acute anxiety attacks. So far, so gripping. But this was where I had a problem with this story. She chose to keep the crutch she used to fight the anxiety secret from Zeke, supposedly because she was ashamed. That didn't ring true for me; I found myself rolling my eyes and grinding my teeth with frustration a few times. I simply don't believe she would prefer for Zeke to think that she was cheating on him over confessing her real coping mechanism. For me, that marred this story. My other issue with it was that so much of the story was angst and misery; again, it was well written, but I prefer a little lightness and sweetness to balance the angst and there wasn't enough of that in this story for me as there was in Playing Patience.
Still worth a read if you enjoyed Playing Patience, I just didn't enjoy it as much.

***I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest opinion in association with A Girl Amongst Books blog***

We find out in this novella that Zeke didn't magically fix Patience at the end of the lady book. Their getting back together didn't miraculously cure her. Patience isn't the same girl we meet in Playing Patience. She's shattered and broken. She's trying hard not to let others see what is going on with her.

Patience is a girl still dealing with everything that was done to her. I like that about this story, Patience is character is so real because she's still dealing with the years of abuse she was put through. She has the nightmares and panic attacks. She isn't suddenly perfect just because she's with someone. She finds a way to stop her panic attacks but starts keeping secrets that are turning her into a different person.

Zeke sees the changes that Patience is going through and he thinks she's healing. His gut tells him she's lying but he won't push her to talk to him. Both Patience and Zeke are scared of losing one another, not being what the other one needs. Patience tries to be what everyone wants her to be but it just ends up making it all worst for. All her life her sister has needed her to keep her safe. Now she's safe but Patience is dealing with too much on her own. She doesn't want to admit she really needs help.

If you haven't read Playing Patience, I suggest you read it before this one. This one take place right after the other ends. It's an emotional story and its what happens to so many kids today. Patience is such a broken young woman that its hard for her to let anyone try to help her. Its a great story because it shows not only what a person deals with after abuse but how it affects a relationship. Highly recommend it.

I am in love! When I read the first one I was so overwhelmed with so many emotions. I think it's a must read for those who loves deep emotions. I love Zeke and the way how he approached Snowflake and She is also a great character. Maybe it's because of the story but it's a heart rendering I love every moment's of it, I Can't put it down. I am just at the beginning of the story but I've already laughed and cried..."

"Some scars never heal. Some get bigger as you grow. They reflect a past that’s branded on your soul and no matter what good comes your way, nothing can soothe the pain."

Of course I am finished I just can't put it down. It's an awesome story about Patience and Zeke how they find each other again, because they can't exist without the other. At the end it was hard to read because I can't stop crying it's the most beautiful proposal I have ever read.
Oh my God, I want more and more of it Tabatha Vargo and Courtney Cole give me the biggest, the purest pleasure of reading!

“You came into my life when I needed you the most. I didn’t even know I was capable of being the man I am when I’m with you. I was dark and broken, and you lit up my world and put me back together piece by piece. I can’t breathe when I’m not with you. I can’t think of anything but your smile and the way you make me feel when we’re apart. I’ve decided that I never want to be away from you again, and if you’ll have me, I’d like to be yours until there’s nothing left of me.”

Perfecting Patience start off with Zeke and Patience reuniting after the horror they went through in Playing Patience. Zeke finally thinks he has Patience back but Patience wants to stay in Florida when Zeke is in California.. So with every long distance relationship the greeneyed monster comes out.. and then baamm! An accident happens that has both of them under the same roof but so much distance between them, so many lies. At times I wanted to choke the shit out of Patience and be like tell him the truth, but of course her stubborn ass refused until she was put in the straight jacket! Yes, you read it right! The looney bin!

Ahh, an amazing book that filled in so much from where Playing Patience ended. Zeke is a reformed everything when it comes to his Snowflake. That guy does have a tender heart and call him whatever you want cuz he don’t care. He’s in love with her and she loves him just the same and that’s all that matters.

All’s good in the hood until Patience’s tells him she can’t go on tour with him and Blow Hole. She want to finish college and be there for her sister, not all together a lie but she really wants to get better and be perfect for Zeke. She starts to have panic attacks and instead of telling Zeke and seeking real help, she self-meds and that is never a good thing.
She struggles thru it and makes herself believe that she has it all under control when really everything is getting all jacked up. Zeke keeps seeing this sleazy guy with her and anyone would think the same as he did. I’m just glad that Zeke didn’t totally abandon her when she hit rock bottom. Love makes you see things those rose colored glasses and it was hard for him to see the signs that she was taking something.

It was touching to see Zeke wanted to be home to take his little girl to her first day of school. Good ending to the love of Snowflake and Zeke. The guys from the band are all softies when it comes to Zeke’s little girls.

Tabatha Vargo stuns me again with another amazing look into the lives of Zeke and Patience. It seems like these two just can't catch a break. But I think that's part of what makes this series so appealing. The characters feel so real. The conversations are real. The relationships are real. The hurdles and hoops that they have to jump through to be together and stay together just feel so real. Who hasn't had ups and downs? We all have. Just maybe not to the extent that Zeke and Patience do. Their relationship is forever doomed to be toxic. "Perfectly Imperfect". Or is it?

Zeke and Patience have grown and matured by leaps and bounds since the first book. You really find yourself rooting for these two. I just wanted to shout from the rooftops "OMG already, give them a break!!!" but no matter what literary life threw at them they fought to be together and that was a beautiful thing to read. With the author's amazing writing they will quickly make their way onto your favorite characters list. AND into your hearts.

If you were like me and brought the tissues out at the end of the last book, you may as well keep them out because you're going to need them for this one too. Absolutely Amazing, Fantastic book. Can't wait to read the next one!

I missed my Zeke, "yes...us. I'm okay in the morning, but the pri** downstairs will take a jab at you if you wake him." He's also still concerned about his girl, well I should say protective, "hold the eff on, man! My girl's naked in here." He also still has that mean temper BUT this time it's with good cause, "what's wrong with me? Are you seriously asking me that? You went to The Pit...alone. Every time you go there something happens to you. I spend the entire effing night worried about you." He's also one to jump up and save his girl, "what happened? Did someone hurt you? I'll kill whoever it was. Tell me who hurt you." This time roles were reversed will sort of Patience did need a little saving (maybe a lot) and it some parts it was her turn to take care of Zeke and he is worse than she was when needing to be taken care of let me tell you what. He's also considerate in this book (well he was in the last book as well, but just more so in this one) "how about I keep you up all night tonight, exhausting you until all you want to do is lie in bed all day tomorrow?" See totally considerate. I'm hoping Chet's story is next I'm kind of really looking forward to his.

At the end of Playing Patience I was so happy that Zeke and Patience got back together. I knew in this book their relationship wouldn't be all lovely dovey but I was not expecting all the hard times that they were going to have to go through. Patience and Zeke are working on fixing themselves while they both do the things they love. Zeke got a record deal and Patience is in collage playing soccer. So they have to do a long distance relationship because neither one will let the other stop doing what they love. With horrible accidents happening and jealousy playing a major role in their relationship they start to fight a lot. And push each other away. They took something that was so beautiful between them and made it ugly. I absolutely loved this book!! They were both away from their abusive dad's but they still had a long road to recovery. There was one line in the book that Patience whispered to Zeke and it broke my heart and made me cry!! Tabatha did a BEAUTIFUL job on the series and I can't wait to read about the other guys in the band!!

I liked this conclusion of Zeke and Patience story. It was very realistic to the aftermath of what both have experienced growing up. Did they make the right decisions? No, but being still so young, and having endured so much abuse, they are going to make a lot of mistakes. Some reviews mentioned that they felt both were way over the top, but they may never have dealt with any of those issues. I know I have, therefore, it all made sense to me. I just love the connection both shared. Throughout all the drama and heartache, I thought their love for each other was beyond beautiful. Put it this way...the song "Patience" by Guns N' Roses is still running through my mind. Awesome read!

loved it! Again, Tabatha knows how to get her readers emotionally involved with her characters. You can't help it... she is that good.
I was really torn during this book. I was absolutely without a doubt pulling for Zeke and Patience's relationship. They have been through so much and if doesn't seem to stop. They could definitely use things going their way.
Sadly I saw that I was not a fan of the way Zeke changed. Such opposite ends of the personality spectrum. I didn't want to see him turn back into the total dick that he was but I think he may have gone too soft. I'm still looking forward to Finding Faith cuz I'm completely in love with Zeke and Patience.

Oh, the tears and tissues. I book made me cry a lot...but only because it is that good!! Tabatha Cargo is one of my new favorite authors and I can't get enough. This book is the perfect sequel to Playing Patience. The accident, the pills, the anxiety attacks, the distance, the heartache... it's all enough to endure in a lifetime rather than a moment in one's relationship. Patience and Zeke manage to find each other and fight each obstacle. This is truly a wonderful and lovely story about love and fighting for that one true love. Beautifully written. I love it!!

A beautiful and well-deserved ending to a chaotic love story. It's just that half of the time I was pissed at Patience. I get what she's been through and I actually pity her but not this time! I don't agree with what she did. And she has the nerve to accuse Zeke of being crazy? Come on! Lucky for her Zeke is a good guy and loves her just the same. Love the epilogue.
